Despite the template used for the category pages on desktop, the mobile theme will use it’s own template. That is the case for author pages, tag pages, etc. The mobile theme has a template for all of them which will be used.

The exception is the mobile homepage, this will display a top grid with featured posts and a latest articles section, so it will not be empty.

1. AMP has become widely used, our old dedicated AMP plugin did the job for a while. A decision has been made to discontinue this plugin and instead use the official up to date AMP plugin, which can be integrated with the mobile theme. In the coming update more options will be added.

2/3. You can design the category pages as you want, use the predefined category templates or cloud templates. These will be used on desktop, on mobile when the mobile theme is active, the mobile template will apply regardless. These mobile templates are AMP valid as well, since 9.6.

4. The mobile theme is created for mobile, if you do not use the mobile theme the responsive version will take place. Meaning the website will adapt for mobile or the device used. Be careful when you design templates with the composer, always check how it will look on mobile.
For example while a flex block with 3 modules per row looks alright on desktop

So in this case set the block to display 1 module per row – http://prntscr.com/myah9s
Most settings are per viewport, check and configure them differently for each when needed.

5. Some examples of what exactly is happening would be very helpful. The only instance when pages would be blank is if we are referring to actual pages. With the mobile theme active each page will require 2 versions, one for desktop built in any way possible with the theme and one for mobile built with the mobile editor – http://prntscr.com/myajbc

You need to use tagDiv Cloud Library and tagDiv Composer, note that those options are available only from newspaper v9.5

Please make sure that you have set on amp settings the classic amp -> https://www.screencast.com/t/sHib2nnCb2 if you have set on native or paired those error will still appear.

Thank you for oyur kind words and also, I feel sorry if you are not happy with the latest version of our theme (v9.6).
The new feature of this update is the AMP+Mobile Theme packet which works well if there will be together enabled. Regarding on Ads, if you do not want to use the Mobile Theme, and just using the AMP plugin and if you want to display more Ads, you need to make some custom modification through the code in order to display them. Unfortunately, the theme does not have any support for this, if the Mobile Theme is not active, sorry! Please notice that we are working on a new update, where we add another functionality regarding on AMP which you have possibly to use the only AMP without a mobile theme, remains the desktop layout. We try doing our best for our future updates.

You still can chose on each post/page you want to show the amp version, but you’ll not longer have the layout of mobile theme, you’ll have the layout of WordPress amp

If you re using the mobile theme with automatic amp the layout of amp will be the same as for mobile, if you are not using the mobile theme, only the amp you’ll get the layout of WordPress amp ( the one that you have now ).

So you are using footer template 1, the one with the two predefined blocks and a categories block

The editor picks block displays featured posts (posts from the featured category), so if you have posts in the featured category they should appear there.
What exactly do you mean that the other blocks cannot be updated?

1. In order to have the sing in / join ( img ) you’ll need to enable this option from theme panel -> https://www.screencast.com/t/jgvIKZZH7erY , unfortunately you can not replace this https://www.screencast.com/t/9E41sa25 with https://www.screencast.com/t/jgvIKZZH7erY

2. Also captcha can be add on this https://www.screencast.com/t/9E41sa25 login with some plugins, if you want to add it on pop up you’ll need to edit some theme files and set for that pop up a code for captcha, but this is not very recommended because when you’ll make an update all those changes will be lost.

1. A setting like this is on our list and will be considered for a future update. Currently there isn’t such a setting, sorry for the inconvenience.

2. Should be the setting I mentioned above, try changing the font there and check again. Let me know if there is a problem, also post a link to the website so I can take a look. mention for which element exactly would you like to chnage the font.

Please do not install the theme with another theme, if your theme is a prev version of newspaper please follow our guide for update -> https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/

If there will still be a problem, please provide me some screenshots and some details about the problem you get.

Also please check the internet connection, and if you are using some plugins that was not tested with our theme, please deactivate theme until you make the update/installation.

Maybe you are using an old version of PHP, they seem to recommend 7.2

Those errors seem to refer to a rethink theme, what exactly is that? Please try and reinstall the theme fresh if you are using it, then update WP Engine again. Note that if you made modifications to the theme files these will be lost.

If you make changes in theme files, and those can not be set in child theme, all those changes will be lose after theme update.The best way will be to use a single post template from tagDiv Cloud Library those templates can be edit with tagDiv Composer, and you can set the comment any were in the post.

It is true that the ad management is somewhat limited, also it hasn’t received any improvements in a while. There are quite a lot of plans for future updates based on user requests mostly, it is hard to decide which gets implemented first. Then it is also a matter of implementing them and testing, which can take a lot of time in complex cases.

I will add these requests on the list, they will be considered.
