I suppose you have a problem with pagination for the block. This kind of issues seems to be caused by conflicting plugins. Please try to disable all the active plugins, except Visual Composer, empty all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the plugins in conflict.

I have tested the menu and added quite a bit of items to it but could not recreate this error nor do we have reports of it. Please try to recreate your menu from scratch and see if it appears again. If you use any plugins to your menu please disable them or rather all of them except visual composer and clear cache to rule out a plugin conflict. I’m not sure exactly what you mean but i will try to cover a few things. The category color can be set from the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/uuYAEhpmq but this color will only be visible on posts: http://screencast.com/t/3NqXqrge3
The category tags color on modules and blocks from the homepage cannot be changed from the theme panel and they will not receive the color you set for the particular category.
You could change these tag colors with css:
.td-post-category{
background-color:red
}
But this will affect all category tags:

Another method to use the blocks with different colors is to set the color from visual composer like the example in the reply above.
Unfortunately these are the only controls the theme has at the moment regarding category tags.

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the update to version 6 but eventually you will need to update your theme to the latest version as more and more features will not work anymore due to updates to wp or php or plugins so version 4 is getting deprecated slowly but surely. Please allow some time and update your theme. Do it on a testing site (sub-domain) and see how bad the damage will be…It will not be as drastic as you may think. We tried our best to maintain compatibility between version 4 and version 6. You will only need to remove a few widgets from the side-bar, and recreate a few elements in visual composer. When using visual composer on posts, you cannot add content above the article top sharing as the elements will be placed inside the post content which is positioned below the article top sharing. The big grey area comes from the post template you chose (template 3) but even if you use another template, you will still not be able to set a big grid above the top sharing. You will need to alter the theme files for this.

Please try to disable all the active plugins, except Visual Composer, empty all your caches, purge the CDN file if used and install only the plugin that come bundled with our theme. Your errors could be caused by your untested plugins that you are using in your theme. Please rule out the conflicting plugins and try to test again. SEO Yoast Plugin is tested on our theme and works properly with default settings. I have no idea why do not work for you. If you use another Plugin for Seach Engine Optimization, try to disable it, maybe cause this problem and try it again.
Also, you can try to disable all the active plugins, except Visual Composer, empty all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme.

The new version of visual composer is tested to work 100% with our theme. Please try to disable all your plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn if you use it. Update your version of vc and check again.

Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches and test again. Usually this issue appear when the photon module of Jetpack plugin it’s used. If you use this module make sure you deactivate it and test again.

I am not aware what plugin you use for rating and how this plugin works. Since is not tested with the theme there is a chance to appear some issues with its functionality. Try to deactivate all others plugins, except for Visual Composer and the rating plugin then test again. Also you can test this with a default wp theme to see if you get the same behavior.

Thanks a lot that CSS did the trick since a poll plugin from Envato is doing all the fuzz, somehow the big grid 5 was only showing 4 articles when we have hundreds with the featured tag used on that config, activating and deactivating Visual Composer plugin did the trick too.

Go to Pages > then its probably going to be the News page if you didn’t change. The page where you would setup your blocks for your homepage…..look below the Visual Composer section for “Homepage latest articles” section. In that section you can choose the Sidebar Position, and also the Sidebar that you want it to use.
If that doesn’t help, you’ll have to wait for a mod.

Just a quick question. I updated to the latest version 6.6.3 version of the Newspaper theme, and then updated the included Visual Composer plugin to the version (I think it was 4.9) included in the download. However, unfortunately VC 4.9 broke the front page of my site. I use a 2/3 + 1/3 column which you can see here:
The 1/3 sidebar column would only display below the main 2/3 column using VC 4.9. Nothing I could do — rebuilding the page etc — would fix this. The Newspaper theme just would not recognise the 2/3 + 1/3 style which I set in Visual Composer. And yes, I tinkered with the row settings as recommended on this forum. No change.
However, I’m conscious that there is a security hole in versions of VC below 4.7.4 (I’m currently on VC 4.6). I’m keen to try VC 4.7.4 or above with the current version of the theme. But I can’t find a way to download this. Can Tagdiv provide a version of this file for download, or let me know where I can get it? I’m happy to pay for it.

I’ve checked your site and the images are displayed fine now: http://screencast.com/t/XHdRG5zKa This issue usually appear because of lazy load animation which’s script conflicts with one of the installed plugins. If this happens again you can try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, then activate them one by one see which one causes the problem.

If you notice, I activated the Visual Editor for this post, and replaces the entire body of the page, except that the top where does featured image of the post. Notice that the Grid that appears was placed under social buttons.
Then I wouldn’t have a way to activate the Visual Editor and this part of featured image with author name, post date and ect does not appear more? Because after all, activate the Visual Editor the intention is not to turn the page of post on common page.

When the child theme it’s used for files customizations it’s a good practice to check update_log.txt file for each update and see what files had been modified so if those specific files are used in the child theme you will have to check your customizations to not break the functionality of the theme.
@rbemerson the way in which child theme works with our theme is by moving the file that you want to modify in Newsmag-child folder. You have to copy every file that you want to edit in child theme folder.
@DSLRMZ I have checked the child theme functionality and works fine. Please make sure that you’re using the child theme from the same package with the main theme: http://screencast.com/t/gwJPjoBUbvZ clear all caches, deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer and test again.

The theme is responsive as it is fluid and style for desktop/tables/mobile screens unfortunately it doesn’t have any settings to disable background image on mobile(you can only hide it via custom css) and this option is from Visual Composer(background to the row/column).
For css you can differentiate phones an tablets using media queries – https://css-tricks.com/snippets/css/media-queries-for-standard-devices/
