Hi,
It could be a child theme that is causing this error. Code from the child theme might need adjustment for the new theme version. Try disabling it and see if the error is still present.
Also if you use Visual composer try disabling the tagDiv composer, or the other way around and check if this has any effect.
Thanks
Hello,
Thank you for all your appreciation and back-up. We appreciate the kind words.
I’m not saying that all of the problems originate from the misuse of visual composer but most of them certainly do. It was our fault that we left the visual composer options active even though they did not run properly. We created a guide to teach people the proper and intended way of using VC with our theme in order not to limit the user so he will not feel restrained https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/, but it backfired now since moving over to our new page builder.
Basically just the 3 columns work properly and pages only as mentioned in the guide above. We have mentioned this lots of times but people still used the options even though not recommended. Now the layout breaks exactly because of that use of unintended options found in VC.
However the solution is simple. Disable the tagdiv composer plugin and use VC as before.
The downside when using visual composer in an unintended way is that moving to our own page builder now will be more difficult as we did not make the same mistake again. We only left the proper columns active in the settings and we do not allow the use of the new page builder on posts.
If this is something you cannot live without, then the new builder is not for you.
Thank you for your understanding and I hope this sheds some light on the subject.
Hello,
Please do not use both page builders at the same time. This is a known issue when using both visual composer and the tagdiv composer.
Thank you!
I tested and work.
Dont have problem if I user Visual Composer to posts?
Hi,
If you used Visual composer to create your website, then deactivate the tagDiv composer and everything should work fine. Maybe something went wrong during the update process. Please try and reinstall the theme by FTP
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Than temporarily deactivate all your plugins except Visual composer and theme plugins, and clear any caching installed. If the error is still present, it would be helpful if you could provide some screenshots so we can see.
Thanks
Hello,
Single image blocks are the first to be affected if using both page builders at the same time. Please do not use both the visual composer and the tagdiv composer simultaneously. Please only use one or the other.
Thanks.
After I’ve updated Newsmag to version 4.0 and visual Composer to 5.2, I found that Responsive options in Visual Composer (from the pencil above each column) is not working anymore. I tried to make some column to hide on mobile device and show only PC but the result is it shows on every device regardless the size of the screen. Please check if this is a bug. If it’s not a bug, please let me know how to fix this problem or what cause this problem.
Thank you.
I like and trust the TagDiv team, I just believe that there is no way to generalize with a page-only solution, when you have a magazine theme and the idea is to propitiate through WordPress and its quick editing of notes via posts, the solution Should consider better migration.
From what I see in the forum we are several who have problems with the posts. In my case it is the sidebar that overlaps with the content that was previously in Visual Composer.
After installing TagDiv you can not choose to use it for one thing or another. It is a definite change since if it is active there is a conflict with the VC and the sidebar does not work. If we activate the VC and deactivate the TDC we simply do not have the blocks for the main pages.
That is, would not it be too much to ask for an intermediary solution?
I do not need an editor for the posts, I WANT TO USE THE TDC. But if the sidebar does not work and the VC is conflicting … maybe you have to change the subject. Even enjoying it and using it for so long.

You can keep using Visual Composer – it’s not ‘gone.’
The TDComposer is a more lightweight, faster, more secure solution for those who only use the pagebuilder for home page, business info pages, etc. and don’t use it on posts, where there is already wide variety of custom post layouts.
For our sites, it’s a perfect fit, as we don’t custom build ‘posts,’ only ‘pages’ and so it’s much faster, and less prone to all the weird system issues we’ve had with VC.
Nothing to correct in the sense of “it’s bad….” — if you have found a bug and can identify how you experienced it, where and why, and what steps taken to debug that, they will definitely address it for the next update to TDC — which is still fairly young, and still being developed.
TDC is *not* a 1:1 replacement for VC. Two totally different things.
If you like VC, keep using it. If you don’t want to switch to TDC, you don’t have to.
Hello Guys, also happened to me with the update. The Hompage gets an error. To workaround i needed to activated the tagDiv Composer. If deactivated the homepage gets an error message. I use only visual composer. So please help.
Here´s the screenshot: http://www.screencast.com/t/KD7oql1YqU
And also break other visual composer things!!!
All posts that use visual composer’s ‘tab’ are broken…
Why would I need to have TagDiv composer instead of Visual Composer in order to change the titles of the categories that show? This doesn’t make sense to me. There’s no other way? I would rather use Visual Composer…
They can’t fix your content.
You can keep using Visual Composer — you don’t need to stop using it. TDC is optional, and is primarily for those starting with theme first time, or who only use it for stuff like home page and custom pages — not posts.
If you use to use TDC in place of VC, you will need to redo some stuff.
Or, just keep using VC.
This is very interesting information. This is exactly the issue I’ve been having with the Newspaper theme. Not happening on any of my other themes. I have version 6.7 on two different sites that continue to get hit. I actually sent a support ticket today about it, but have not heard back from the Newspaper support group. As you can see by the numerous support tickets in recent days, it’s not easy to upgrade to version 8 because of recent conflicts between Newspaper and Visual Composer. Newspaper wants you to start using TagDiv instead, but this forces you to rebuild all your pages.
With 8.1 you can continue to use Visual Composer if you wish; so keep using that, and do not activate TD Composer.
TDC doesn’t support posts; only pages.
Hello,
td composer is not working after updating to theme version 8.1 and also updating the td composer plugin.
I then deactivated td composer and installed visual composer. That totally broke the site.
I now have td composer activated, but can’t use it.
My site is http://carolinaepicurean.com
Yes, there is an oooold version of the theme which had a security issue, as did many themes; as did Visual Composer; as did WordPress core prior to 4.7; and that issue was fixed with very fast dot upgrade.
You need to review changelogs when new versions of any WordPress element is updated to ensure it’s been patched for any discovered security flaw.
Something like over 100,000 WordPress sites got hacked earlier this year for not updating WP core to new version with vulnerabilities patched. Also, old versions of PHP are no longer secure, either (e.g., 5.2 and 5.3 are end of life; 5.4 now end of life; 5.6 and up should be used).
Hello,
Thank you for the reply. The layout problem is there even with only the tagdiv page builder active. Kindly fix it. I have deactivated the Visual composer then also the same layout issue in the posts where the visual composer was used. If the tagdiv builder is only for the pages please make it to work in posts, so that is supports some general elements.
Hi, I am working on democracynewslive.com and I’ve been trying to set up a new homepage design with tag div composer. I’ve deleted visual composer plugin and re-installed tagdiv composer, but still the drag and drop function doest work. I can give you the credentials or we can use teamviewer, you can see it for yourself. I’m a webdeveloper myself. Please, this is highly urgent, I’d request you to place it on high priority.
Hello neevin2017,
1)First of all, ensure that you are using the latest theme version via FTP way because this is the surest method in this regard. Also, check the system status parameters to be increased according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
2)Basically, you should not activate the theme for each update of it but notice that you should check every time the theme’s status because it is possible to need to reactivate it in some cases.
3)Please notice that you should not update your Visual Composer to 5.2.1 version because this is not yet tested with our theme, sorry! Please ignore the message and use only the plugin’s version which comes bundled with the theme core files and without use other versions of them.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hi,
Not the Visual composer, deactivate the tagDiv composer
– https://www.screencast.com/t/Kz2T5yWu1
Having both editors active can cause some issue in some cases. If you used Visual composer for posts and pages, deactivating the tagDiv composer will make everything display like before. Clear any caching installed after disabling it.
If after deactivating it you still have problems, then maybe something else is responsible. Please provide a link to your website so we can inspect it, in that case.
Thanks
Hi,
If you used Visual composer to build your website, deactivate the tagDiv composer.
When you decide to make the switch to the tagDiv composer you can do it at any time you see fit.
The pages will have to be rebuilt with the new editor, and replaced.
Please rest assured, when and if Visual composer will not be included in the package or supported, it will be announced properly ahead of time. I could not say at the moment what will happen exactly.
I have tested the Text block with title and found no issue with it. Maybe you can provide more details about the error it is producing for you, when possible.
In the meantime, please try and enjoy your vacation!
Thanks
Hi Simon,
I have tried everything you have suggest. I have disabled all plugins and no change to mobile. It crashes. Have left all plugin disabled and lowered the PHP version from 7.1 to 7.0 to 5.6 and still crashes mobile. Have made sure that cloudflare and all serve side cash is empty and dumped and mobile still crashed. Made sure all CCS/HTML.Java codes were removed from “Custom Code” section and still crashes. Installed a fresh new version of Version 4.0, still chrashed.
Activated Tagdiv composer and mobile works fine 100%. (No, have not changed any page format in Tagdiv Composer which could cause page to fail). Now I have a working Mobile and Desktop with Tagdiv Composer but this plugin will not work well with a good amount of Visual Composer addons which is what some of us bought and developed our pages around.
Unless you have other guidance or assistance, can you kindly send me an email link to the previous Version prior to 4.0 update. Think it was 3.3.1. This one worked fine last I checked.
Thanks
Hello all,
Notice that our builder is at the beginning and also, it is in a continuous development. You will not found all the elements which Visual Composer has. From now on, this plugin will be improved with some features which have to be exclusively for this builder.
For more information about right using of TD Composer and transition between these both page builders, please check the following topic here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/ -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/visual-composer-tagdiv-composer-transition/
As you probably know, our page builder is much restrictive (regarding on layouts) than Visual Composer because in that way we can easily handle the performances which can be achieved with our product. If your entire theme has been created exclusively with Visual Composer and if your elements used on your website does not exist in TD Composer you should use VC.
Thanks for your understanding!
But i used in all posts, if disable Visual Composer my posts is desformat, and i will write again.
