First of all, please make sure you have the latest version of the theme(11.4.1) and plugins, and all the requirements are done as you can see here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
Deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv ones, also if you are using a cache plugin, deactivate it, clear all cache and try again.

Unfortunately, you can’t display tags or custom taxonomies there, only if you will modify the element you’re using from code, but this will require custom work which is not covered by the support team.

The placeholder disappears because when you click on search, the input is automatically focused there. If you click-right on the search button, then you can see again the placeholder name. A workaround there could be to delete the placeholder from the element’s settings.
