Unfortunately updating from a very old version such as newspaper 4 will need some elements to be recreated. the sidebar implementation was changed, some elements from the old theme were removed, some elements were added and so on. You will have to re-create your pages in visual composer. The post templates, the header styles, the footer styles, they will all be different as they have been changed over the years. Sorry for the inconvenience but updating from such an old version will require a bit of extra work to do as it will not be a smooth update such as updating from version 6+ to 7+

Thanks for sharing this. I have checked into this and there seems to be an issue causing this. I added it to our list for future updates.
As a quick fix, you can add this code in the theme panel-> custom css box:

Then you can use it to create your css code. You can target the .td-module-title class

Maybe your code requires a bit of extra implementation like maybe a script that goes in the theme functions.php or header.php in the head section. Please check with amazon for wordpress implementation on the ads. Unfortunately the smart lists are just lists, They are not separate posts. It is a list inside a post. The hit view is generated only once per post, not per slide. The theme will not increment the views for erach slide in particular. It increments per post not per smart list slide.

This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files.
