Now I see block width seems to be an intermittent problem. It only occurs for me using any custom post template (never did with standard Theme Panel post templates) but not always. I haven’t figured out what triggers it. For now just another of the vagaries of the wayward world of Newspaper templates.

One way round this is to edit using the reliable old Style 1 and then select your template before publishing – but it’s ridiculous hack.

Mark Gilbert

Calin & Catalin – above you seem to give different code to adjust to widen Gutenberg blocks.

Mark Gilbert
tagDiv Member

Calin – I downloaded gutenberg-editor.css by ftp but see it’s not a text file. How can I edit it?

Mark Gilbert
tagDiv Member

Calin – you need to adjust the theme permanently. Whoever designed this obviously isn’t an editor, potentially dealing with thousands of words a day. This is a very basic bug, reducing workflow enormously.

Mark Gilbert

Dead right – there’s a lot about Newspaper Cloud Templates that causes more trouble than it saves. These problems don’t occur if you avoid Cloud Templates and use Theme Panel settings only. Which is a pity, because customisation is good. I agree Newspaper should be able to circumvent this. It’s their theme messing up WP.

I have spent a couple of precious hours checking my configuration against https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ and the NP System Status page seems to answer most of the system requirements. Please see my current status here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1FbnwEnLmUHPGfCK-domaGlvkT4iY3_ig

Those not included there, as far as I can see, are these: WP Memory Limit (my wp-config.php file contains no define( ‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’ line, but the hosting package gives me a memory limit of 640mb) & MySQL (it’s 5.5).

Can you suggest what else is causing Cloud Templates save button to spin and not save?

Mark

I’ve been using Newspaper for 18 months but only had problems with non-save since starting to use cloud templates. Why does everything else – posts, pages save ok but cloud templates don’t? Do they have a special problem? Can you be sure there is no bug in cloud templates before I spend valuable hours checking https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/?

Mark Gilbert

I can’t see how to edit using the website manager as you say above. It seems I can only import what I already have – another faulty footer.

Ok, Vlad, thanks.

Mark Gilbert

Ok, Calin, thanks – but this will leave the image floating in space, with no text around it.

I hope you will add a Style 1 template to your cloud templates. It’s a really obvious, useful, popular style to have, with its compact thumbnail image. That’s why it’s called Style 1!

Thanks – please add unhide button to your list…

Mark Gilbert

Hi Vlad – I mean AdSense or custom code. It has never appeared.

Check this page – https://jazzjournal.co.uk/2020/05/20/sonny-stitt-the-early-years-1941-1952/ – where I have placed this code in the field “YOUR ARTICLE TOP AD”:

<script async src=”https://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js”></script&gt;
<!– JJ display horizontal 1 –>
<ins class=”adsbygoogle”
style=”display:block”
data-ad-client=”ca-pub-7426344127145001″
data-ad-slot=”2925354814″
data-ad-format=”auto”
data-full-width-responsive=”true”></ins>
<script>

The same code in “YOUR ARTICLE BOTTOM AD” produces an ad, as you can see.

Thanks
Mark

Did you see my reply above, with type of element and code?

Mark Gilbert

Is it possible to give a list of live css codes to solve this problem for each such accident we might encounter? Or a guide to how we can form our own code for each circumstance? Or eventually a button saying “show all hidden material”?

Mark Gilbert
tagDiv Member

Hi Vlad – I didn’t realise different code for each circumstance. It is the Flex Block 1 at the top of https://jazzjournal.co.uk, with custom title “Three items from the last seven days at Jazz Journal”

[tdc_zone type="tdc_content"][vc_row][vc_column][td_flex_block_1 modules_on_row="eyJhbGwiOiIzMy4zMzMzMzMzMyUiLCJwaG9uZSI6IjEwMCUifQ==" limit="3" hide_audio="yes" show_btn="none" show_cat="none" image_floated="" f_title_font_family="fs_3" f_title_font_size="21" f_ex_font_family="fs_7" f_ex_font_size="14" f_title_font_weight="600" f_ex_font_weight="500" tdc_css="eyJhbGwiOnsiYmFja2dyb3VuZC1jb2xvciI6IiNmOWY5ZjkiLCJkaXNwbGF5Ijoibm9uZSJ9LCJsYW5kc2NhcGUiOnsiZGlzcGxheSI6Im5vbmUifSwibGFuZHNjYXBlX21heF93aWR0aCI6MTE0MCwibGFuZHNjYXBlX21pbl93aWR0aCI6MTAxOSwicG9ydHJhaXQiOnsiZGlzcGxheSI6Im5vbmUifSwicG9ydHJhaXRfbWF4X3dpZHRoIjoxMDE4LCJwb3J0cmFpdF9taW5fd2lkdGgiOjc2OCwicGhvbmUiOnsiZGlzcGxheSI6Im5vbmUifSwicGhvbmVfbWF4X3dpZHRoIjo3Njd9" category_id="" sort="random_7_day" image_alignment="4" mc1_el="20" custom_title="Three items from the last seven days at Jazz Journal" header_text_color="#000000" block_template_id="td_block_template_7" modules_gap="25" f_header_font_family="fs_3" f_header_font_size="18" modules_divider="" modules_divider_color="" image_height="100" show_excerpt="" author_txt_hover="#000000" author_txt="#595959" show_review="none" meta_padding="10px 0px 0px 0px" art_title="0px 0px 6px 0px" art_excerpt="10px 0px 0px 0px"][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row gap="10" tdc_css="eyJhbGwiOnsibWFyZ2luLXRvcCI6Ii0yMCIsImRpc3BsYXkiOiIifX0="][vc_column width="2/3" tdc_css="eyJhbGwiOnsibWFyZ2luLWJvdHRvbSI6Ii0yMCIsImRpc3BsYXkiOiIifX0="][vc_row_inner tdc_css="eyJhbGwiOnsiZGlzcGxheSI6IiJ9fQ=="][vc_column_inner tdc_css="eyJhbGwiOnsibWFyZ2luLWJvdHRvbSI6Ii0yMCIsImRpc3BsYXkiOiIifX0="]

I have the same problem and have tried both

.td-pb-row.vc_row {
display:block!important;
}

and

.vc_row.td-pb-row{
display: block!important;
}

but see no access to missing element in any viewport.

I should say I hid Element, not Row…

This is bug – if one can hide, there should be a button to unhide…

Mark Gilbert
tagDiv Member

Do you need this? https://jazzjournal.co.uk

Mark Gilbert
tagDiv Member

How do you unhide an element that has been hidden in all viewports? Through code view? I can find no reference there to “Hidden”. Thanks

Mark Gilbert

Sorry – ignore! My mistake, I added ad code as html to the sidebar and forgot I’d done it.

Mark Gilbert

See here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/17luss2RwZtkxAgqTw-1PAvbS9NUXgeNj/view?usp=sharing

I add additional text “Posted:”. Nothing changes in the template date line.

Mark Gilbert

Yes, that is what I am doing, but the font remains unchanged. It only changes in live article if I change it in Theme Panel/Theme Fonts/Post Content. See in this image – https://drive.google.com/open?id=13dHIV_96qC41K5WUK0IQMUoFJSbtJqjA – I have selected Verdana 13 but the post content font remains as set in Theme Panel, at Palatino 18 – https://drive.google.com/open?id=1dYT_QIPp9P6UqmJ6PYS-B8iek1byoIx See live page here – no change to Verdana: https://jazzjournal.co.uk/2020/05/25/wynton-kelly-someday-my-prince-will-come/

Mark Gilbert

Further to this, Calin, you say in this post – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/single-page-template-google-adsense-not-displaying/

“Please make a test, set the code in a div with a width for inline ads and check the results.
-> https://i.imgur.com/421qX6d.png
<div style=”width:320px”>
<div>

If is working, set the width to auto or 100%”

[<div> should be </div>]

Two questions:

1) Is 320px true for all users
2) Where is “set the width to auto or 100%”? I can’t see any option to set width in Single Post Content/Ads

Just want to make sure I have correct, universal message for all users here.

Thanks
MG
