Most of the time this problem it is created by an extra plugin. Please make a test using only the tagDiv plugins and see if the problem persist.

1. It is not recommended to keep more theme versions, but you can do that (but in case that you have sidebars made with widgets, those will be move in inactive widgets if you use the WP install method).

2. Normally, the update should not changed any settings that were made in the previous version. Did you checked the url from the logo?

Unfortunately, there is no option for that. It can be achieved only if you edit the theme files. The structure of the child theme seems to be correct, but please use the child them from the Newspaper v11 package.
Also, why not try a single post template form the cloud and then the video icon will be displayed automatically on the featured image (there are to featured image elements, one that is set as background only for images and a normal one that can be used for images, video, audio).

I hope that you made the posts using the WordPress editor and you made the single post template only for the post layout (this is the scope of cloud templates), after that you only selected that cloud template as individual or global.

Ok, lets start with the first block, the Flex block 3, you have set there the number of words for excerpt, but most probably this is set on hoiden in layout tab, also those will be displayed only for the big module -> https://i.imgur.com/TVnSv6r.png -> https://i.imgur.com/jVGhxl6.png with the flex block 1 you need to check the same settings
Also, the excerpt it is only in flex blocks, on flex grids there is no excerpt.
