I’ve been having trouble getting the Amazon Affiliate programme’s Responsive Search Widget to display on my site: https://affiliate-program.amazon.co.uk/gp/associates/promo/search-widget.html

Has anyone managed to get this working on their website? I don’t think this is a problem with the theme as such, but I’d be grateful to hear from other Newspaper users as to how they got it to display.
As it stands I’m (unsuccessfully) using the Ad Inserter plugin which is added as a widget on the sidebar, but the raw JavaScript block in Visual Composer failed to display the Amazon widget either.

Transitioning to NP theme…and I know this doesn’t fall under typical support but I am really hoping someone out there can help me. I have a custom RSS feed in my current site I’m trying to copy over (working on a staging server – not sure if that makes a difference).
I have added a functions.php to my child theme and added this code:

I have enabled the “SUMMARY” button in Settings > reading , in my main wordpress admin, and have added a “read more” tag in my posts, but it is still showing the entire post on each page. Looking to add a “READ MORE” button to each post, encouraging readers to click and improving SEO.

You’ll need a custom function which convert published post date to unix format then compare the result with a value which will also be unix format. Basically you’ll need a variable which store the published date for current post and another variable which store the date to compare. Here you can find some useful information in this regard: http://php.net/manual/en/datetime.settimestamp.php
This is a complex task which require many customizations and tests in order to be achieved.
We can’t offer customization services at the moment so if you still need guidance on this or you’re not aware of the steps you need to take in this regard please consider hiring a developer or a freelancer to do this for you.

Guys I wanna share this to you anybody out there who tried to put FB comment instead of the default one.

Here’s what I did:
1. In order to implement facebook comments, you have to disable the theme comments and then place the facebook comments shortcode in the template files.
You have to do this for every post style you use on your site. every post style has it’s own file.
Theme Panel > Post Settings > ENABLE COMMENTS ON POSTS
Enable or disable the posts’ comments, for the entire site. > Disable – Credits to Bogdan B.
2. Add the following code to header.php located /wp-content/themes/Newspaper

This error -> http://screencast.com/t/XW2ZouO2hQe comes up in the search/block 21/module 16 when a post has no featured image set to it. This is the case because the search uses the default WP thumbnail. We are working on a fix for this and until we can implement it, you can use this workaround:
You need to edit td_config.php and add this code:

Basically, you are just adding another thumbnail to the list in between the existing ones. Then the error will not display anymore.

I have checked your website I saw that you have a lot of additional customization for this type of header that breaks the layout and cause a bad design. If you want to return to the default settings, you have to clear all your custom CSS code to this section -> http://screencast.com/t/Ca7gkrnyi and also, if you want to have a bigger logo you have to switch your header style to another one that supports it, as example header style 11. At the moment you can filter posts only by custom post types, not by custom taxonomies in Visual Composer.
We plan to extent theme’s flexibility in future and maybe a sorting by custom taxonomy will be available. However I can’t promise anything in this regard as this is a very complex task and some investigations must be made before. Also we have a long implementation list and we need to chose carefully what features we add.

2)So, please notice that our theme uses a lof of thumbs and sizes to display the featured images. Also, from the Thumbs on modules & Block, you will turn off some options for size and that size are used in some blocks that are active, the featured image will not be shown because the thumbs for this type of block are deactivated. I hope that you understand by explanation.
3)Also, if you want to add some link in our footer section, you have to use a footer template that allows you to make it as you wish, for example, the footer template style 5 and then you have to use a bit of HTML code to add a link, using this syntax -> http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_links.asp

You can change the size in the code to fit your needs. Careful of the smaller screen devices though as if you increase the logo too much, on an old iphone for example, the logo could overlap the hamburger menu.

Please notice that if you are not using the name for your block and you are using the Ajax Filter you will have this case. So, you can set the title for your block and then the ajax filter will be displayed fine or you can use a bit of CSS code to add a padding-top for your block.

First you have to create the content in Visual Composer, then switch in backend editor, copy the shortcode and paste it inside do_shortcode function.
