Hi Simion

Thanks for your reply. I’ve already fixed the issue (found a workaround)

What i noticed is that when i install the newspaper9 theme on a domain example.com
everything is working fine.
+During theme installation tagdiv composer is installed automatically (no further steps are needed) Icons are workin fine then.

But when i redirect domain example.com to another server via entry in /etc/hosts
on my local computer then
-When i install newspaper theme, tagdiv composer is not automatically installed
-Then i need to install tagdiv composer manually. Installation works fine. Tagdiv composer works, BUT ICONS are not visible

Workaround:
Install newspaper theme on the server where authoritative dns is pointing to.
Then move the all wordpress files and mysql database to another server.

Case case be closed

Lukasz

Hello Simion & Catalin,

Are you plannning to include the button to disable all unused theme features in future updates ? I mean this could help a lot for people who require fast loading time and less fluff that is not required. I see some fast themes are using this.

Thx for considering this.

Hey, is there any option for the menu or features like the footer to be in the AMP versions of the pages?

Also, is it possible to create the Homepage in AMP?

Hi,

Our theme do not work with the that WordPress setting, (unfortunately any page you set in the Post page will take the template from the theme panel, template settings, blog and posts templates ), please do not use that setting.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
https://www.screencast.com/t/7TRSzO5lOHM

Way not not change the name of loop template and set it in menu, and in this way you’ll have both.
I will give you an example, I will set the loop template as home page and I have the New set in menu, in this way I got goth settings, also you can have both in menu if you want.
https://www.screencast.com/t/Sww6KQpoN
Hope this will help you.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi,

That is a customization made in the demo stylesheet directly
https://www.screencast.com/t/th6GTWCsP0
That is because in the theme panel you can only set a solid color as background, not gradient
https://www.screencast.com/t/YusfYYz1pI

To change the colors used you could override the demo customization with a similar code but use the colors you want. For example
https://www.screencast.com/t/c64R74TlqC49
If you should consider it, this is the code for it

.td-fast-news .td-header-wrap .td-header-menu-wrap-full,
.td-fast-news .td-header-menu-wrap.td-affix {
background: linear-gradient(to right, #aebc22 0, #4f6565 25%, #8b0081 100%) !important;
}

Replace the colors with the ones you want, then enter the code in Theme panel->Custom code CSS section.

Thanks

Hi,

If the images you use as featured are small, then the theme won’t be able to create the larger thumbnails that grids use for example. If larger thumbnails are not created the images will be displayed as they are, not stretched.

In case that you cannot set larger images as featured for the posts, you could maybe try some thumbnail upscale plugins that could stretch the images to fill the modules.

With CSS it may be possible as well. I could give it a try, provide a link to the website where I can test.

Thanks

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to ask one more question on this. Take a look at the below image to see exactly what I mean.

https://www.irreverentgent.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Byline-Example.jpg

Please let me know if there’s any bit of code I can use to move the byline up so it’s beside the picture, rather than below it.

Thanks!

Dave

Hi,

Yes you can, our blog is made with newspaper using tagDiv composer, also you can find more templates/pages in tagDiv Cloud Library plugin , were you can edit them how you like, ore create a new one, all you need is some skills for design and test with the items.
You can use an affiliate link to test the cloud library and tagdiv composer
https://affiliate.tagdiv.com/#/load/All

Here is an example of the pages, just paste the below code ( from the url ) in a page like in screenshot
https://www.screencast.com/t/6V5il7Mm

https://pastebin.com/Wwtg1BQk

Thank you.

Hi,

You can make the elements inside the page have a higher width or full width, not the actual page as a whole.
For example you can stretch the rows used in the page
https://www.screencast.com/t/RmCEWTPmqOB
Then you could use flex blocks in the page, flex grids or full width grids.
There are 10 types of full width big grids – https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/full-big-grid-1/

Through the cloud library you can import blocks designed by us based on flex blocks, preview and even edit them here
https://affiliate.tagdiv.com/#/load/Blocks

Please let us know if you have more questions.
Thanks

Hi,

From what I can see you are using an older theme version (7.4) the latest being 9.1. This may create problems when using the latest WordPress or newer PHP versions. You should strongly consider to update, that may fix the issue.

There were quite a lot of changes and new additions since that version. It is good practice to keep both theme and WordPress updated when updates are available and when possible.

A changelog for each update can be seen here for example
https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609 (bottom of the page)

An update guide is here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
The most reliable and most used method to update is by FTP. Remember to make a backup of the website before updating, just to be safe.

Hi Simon,

Thanks for the quick reply.

OK, so I get both the options you have shown in the screencasts. However, when I click on “Translate +” from “Edit Page” I have no option to translate the content built with the TagDiv composer (see here https://cdn.wpml.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/2890516-Screenshot_2018_11_08_18.13.49.png?x59034).

Both TagDiv and WPML examples say that I should get all the individual fields to translate from this view as shown here: https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/create-multilingual-wordpress-websites-using-the-newspaper-theme-and-wpml/

Does this make sense now?

Thanks 🙂

Hi,

Using similar filtering and sorting in blocks and grids will lead to them displaying the same posts, that is normal.

If it’s necessary to use the same filtering and sorting, either use the unique articles setting, or the offset setting for each block
https://forum.tagdiv.com/offset-feature/

The homepage blocks and grids will show what you set them to show, according to the categories you choose in the filter settings
https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/

The latest articles section below your content in the homepage has filtering settings as well
https://www.screencast.com/t/nwFw6H533
So basically every element currently in a page can be filtered differently. You can exclude categories from each element if needed (by IDs), example
https://www.screencast.com/t/s8moK1Qt
Or even specific posts (also by IDs) – https://www.screencast.com/t/gRsj0Yb40

Hi,

There should be an option to translate pages, regardless of what was used to build them. For example in these places
https://www.screencast.com/t/1oK4HvabbcL
https://www.screencast.com/t/tBjxdAK4yLx
None of those options are appearing in your case? Or maybe I misunderstand the problem. Let me know.

Hi,

@rozemarijn
If you want three images in a row in the post content you could simply add them there like that, when writing the post. For example
https://www.screencast.com/t/2VuZDboble

We don’t recommend WPBakery on posts, as the guide mentions
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/
In the past that created layout problems when also the tagDiv composer was active, we fixed most of them however.

I can’t say at the moment if the tagDiv composer will be available for creating actual posts (post content). I am not aware of such plans at the moment. Sorry for any inconvenience.

Thanks

Hi,

1. I believe you are referring to the category tags – http://prntscr.com/likf3f
Those have predefined colors, they could only be changed with CSS, not by a theme setting.

I could try and give you a solution, mention for which elements you want to change the color, which blocks and where. A link to the website/page would be helpful so I can test.

For example something like this would work for all the category tags at once
https://www.screencast.com/t/kFYKB3RkS

.td-post-category {
background-color: blue;
color: black;
}

2. Maybe something like this – https://www.screencast.com/t/1IPmNEYmVI
The menu will start from the right if you enter this code in Theme panel->Custom CSS

@media (min-width: 767px) {
#td-header-menu .sf-menu li {
float: right;
margin-right: 14px;
}}

3. I could take a look, provide a link to where the grid is in your website and exact details about what you want to do.

4. Seems the theme will override the font weight on mobile, it will set a font-weight of 600, so the one from the theme panel will not apply anymore
https://www.screencast.com/t/rhlVigkI6Hh
I will add this on our list of issues, I don’t think this is intended to happen. As a quick fix I could give you a code to make sure your desired font weight applies. For example
https://www.screencast.com/t/t5hkyCyH

.td_block_big_grid_4 .td-small-thumb .entry-title {
font-weight: 100!important;
}

Let me know.

Thanks

Hi,

That page isn’t hard to make with Newsmag as well. It consists of a single image element at the top, then a column text. The next two sections are made with Woocommerce shortcodes, for example
https://www.screencast.com/t/liO6o09Px
https://www.screencast.com/t/qCg9WJSBmYQH

The section at the bottom (product loop) will appear after the page is set as shop page

How can I create my own Category Template? For example, I am already using a Child Theme so I want to make a copy of td_category_template_8.php and create something like td_category_template_88888.php. I do not want to make changes directly in the Child Theme of td_category_template_8.php because I need it for some categories. So I wish to create an entirely new td_category_template_88888.php

Is there a way to do that? Maybe add something to functions.php?

If edit the template and i add to page the element “Single Post Comment” and after that appear wordpress comments not facebook comments. And comments.php is edited with this:

<div id="fb-root"></div>
<script>(function(d, s, id) {
  var js, fjs = d.getElementsByTagName(s)[0];
  if (d.getElementById(id)) return;
  js = d.createElement(s); js.id = id;
  js.src = 'https://connect.facebook.net/en_US/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v3.2&amp;appId=******&amp;autoLogAppEvents=1';
  fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
}(document, 'script', 'facebook-jssdk'));</script>
<div class="fb-comments" data-href="" data-width="100%" data-numposts="10" data-order-by="social" data-colorscheme="light" data-include-parent="true"></div>

Hi!
The theme/look you have for your own site https://tagdiv.com/blog/ is the cleanest blog look I have seen. I really love the fonts and look&feel.
Can I create this look with Newspaper 9 theme I bought?
Possible to get this as a demo and ready to use?
Thanks !

Hello,
I wrote my problem here https://themeforest.net/comments/20793623 and after installing the cloud library plugin I can finally edit post templates. Thank you, but my third question wasn’t really answered.
How I can actually use a pagebuilder on the post content itself? I mean not to edit a template, but for edit the post itself. For example I want to be able to insert colums in the text or add divs and change the background etc. Actually same as editing a template but editing the post content. I hope you get what I mean.
I’ve already read some other posts here in the forum which asked the same question and you say that it’s just not possible and we should use the WPBakery plugin instead. If I edit a post with that plugin, will I still be able to use the template for it + sidebar etc? Will it just edit the post content or the whole post will have an empty template and I have to build it from scratch without sidebar?
However, if I activate it, I can’t edit any post at all anymore. If I click “edit”, I just get “Error 500”. If I deactivate WPBakery, I can edit my posts again.
Do you plan to support posts-content by the TDcomposer in the future? Or at least give it support for third-party plugins like Elementor. That would be great. I don’t see any possibility to add simple things like colums, divs with bg etc. in a post right now at all. For example on other websites I always used Elementor and it worked perfectly. I could add textboxes, divs with content etc.
I have to say that it’s really disappointing for me to use Newspaper so far, since it is only possible to write simple text (with pictures) and nothing more as posts.
Greetings

Hi Simion,
thanks for the reply. What I mean is WOrdpress generated over thumbnail sizes too (300px x 300px for example) which I believe holds aspect ratios of the original image. I’d love to be able to use that one rather than the smallest thumb of 150×150.
