Hi, we are really happy with the Newspaper template and so far all works pretty well. But now we ran into a problem: We want to remove the author name in blocks (for example, in the Big Grid or Block22, where the name is shown next to the date), but haven’t been able to find the setting for that area of blocks.
Where can we adjust that part of the blocks?
Thanks for your help.
Dorothee
Hello,
If you want to change the heading for the post titles in modules and blocks you will have to change this function code: https://www.screencast.com/t/WUGBmiHy
Thank you!
Hello,
Unfortunately our theme modules and blocks have implementation for custom post types but you will not be able to filter them based on their custom taxonomies. The theme does not have implementation based on the custom taxonomies.
Thanks.
Hi,
It would not be easy to change the thumbnail size for the module and would require changes made to multiple theme elements. If you were to do it, this will modify the thumbnail size for the module everywhere it is used. Something like this can create unexpected problems because the predefined blocks are specially designed and tested with the current values.
For the category pages you can choose from the available modules
– https://www.screencast.com/t/TTHhtUkpykzp
The category pages are not available for editing at the moment, all the modifications will have to be made through the theme panel. The theme will not display more modules if the thumbnail size is smaller, and there cannot be 4 or 5 columns in the category pages.
Thanks
Hi,
You can display pages instead of posts in the Big grid or a block like this
– https://www.screencast.com/t/gZyQJycs
In addition you can enter specific page Id’s to display
– https://www.screencast.com/t/jrSE3tmOdQ
Thanks
Hello again,
I am trying to set up an some pages on my site that will be sort of a landing page for sections on my website, so they will show all the different content types i have in each section (posts,products,events,etc…).
I have managed to use the theme blocks with my posts types by inputing the relevant post type in the “Post Type” field : https://gyazo.com/2c335ae941b180f10a173010f553c489
and that works great, but when i try to filter the config further, and show for example the products but only from specific category of products it doesnt work. I tried to input the category id in this field:
https://gyazo.com/6748131bac5be5f48a8232bcff38a1a0
but it simply shows no products.
Same goes for the “Ajax dropdown – filter type – filter by categories”, it doesnt recognise it as a post type, and shows the categories for posts rather then products.
Please assist on how to make it work…
Hello mixalakis123,
I have inspected your website and I saw that you are using two different blocks/modules on homepage than category page and that’s why you bring different results. On the homepage, you are using the Big Grid full 4 which uses the module mx_21 and for category pages, I saw that you are using the Big Grid full 3 which uses the module mx_19. If you want to have the same results for both pages, you should use the same modules. For category page, notice that you can switch the modules from Theme panel, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/j9XnTKM2L
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the message!
Hello Elisa,
I have inspected your website and I saw that your featured image are not correctly displayed at the front end. Make sure that you have correctly added your images from post editor and also, ensure that you have added the big size of your image. After this, you should use the Regenerate Thumbnails and Force Regenerate to regenerate your thumbnails and then check the results. Try to check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello,
Sorry but our news ticker does not have that kind of layout as seen on the site you mentioned.
There are only 2 styles available for the ticker: https://www.screencast.com/t/W8zpJViil
Categories cannot be edited like static pages using visual composer so you cannot add block elements to them unless you add them through coding.
Here is an example of a trending now block added through a do_shortcode function in the category top post files https://www.screencast.com/t/k9zFLrYkEg
Here is the code used: <?php echo do_shortcode('[td_block_trending_now tdc_css=""]'); ?>
Thank you!
Hello,
This issue is caused due to many complex elements on your site. That causes a very high load in the serve. In this case you will simply need better hosting so all the complex elements can be supported by it. Visual composer is known to be slow and demanding and that is why people tend to find different page builder solutions. Our own page builder does not present a risk as you say as it’s developed by us not a third party. We are working hard on the page builder and it will become a very powerful tool.
Now for a solution to your ajax problem. The first one would be jot to use too many different blocks on your homepage. Using more different blocks will cause a higher load. You seem to use lots of different blocks on your homepage. Make the homepage simpler with no more than 4 blocks if your hosting cannot handle a larger number on high traffic spikes.
To reduce ajax calls, simply remove some of the pagination and ajax filters on your blocks. For mobile users, one solution could be the mobile theme plugin: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
And last but not least, check your plugins as they slow down the site radically. You also have lots of js errors in your console most likely due to plugins or customization.
Thank you!
Hello,
The images on our modules and blocks already have an alt title set to them: https://www.screencast.com/t/sQIT4iMYBFcS
As for the excerpts, if the field does not show up on your post, please check the top screen options: https://www.screencast.com/t/NU9yMvx3WQR
Thank you!
Hello,
Unfortunately thumbs cannot be altered with css. You can change the height with css but the image will still remain the same size. I recommend choosing another grid as the theme block layouts are not editable.
You can try big grid 10 for example as it gets close to the layout you are looking for.
Thank you!
Is this possible? I tried following this tutorial here…
https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/
but it doesn’t give any examples on how to add a page instead of a blog post.
Hi dear guys, I ask you a favor about Block 4.
When I click on “Load More Button” the Thumbnail images are not the same size as the previous ones. How can I fix this? Have you a css custom code?
https://s22.postimg.org/4v0kuy3y9/Voila_Capture_2017-05-06_10-05-06_PM.jpg
You can look at this problem on my homepage just on the bottom of the post, above instagram plugin.
Many thanks!
Elisa
Hi There,
Firstly, I’m not sure if it’s just me, but the search functionality of this forum seems to be broken, It makes it difficult for me to research this issue.
We continue to have intermittent load and performance issues, we seem to have narrowed it down to multiple /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php
It appears one article page load will generate 21 requests to /wp-admin/admin-ajax.php.
We are seeing strange intermittent issues where I believe (according to our tech) we are being flooded with these requests, we get an abnormally high number of active nginx connections, the site eventually slows to a stop and crashes. Strangely it eventually (maybe after an hour) it corrects itself, it doesn’t seem to be associated with high load.
I’ve read a few similar threads of people experiencing ver similar issues
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/i-need-shim-working-again/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/high-processor-usage-by-admin-ajax-and-index-php/
I’ve read a few different bits of advise with no particular resolution.
1. Potentially it’s an issue with Visual Composer and changing to TD Composer might fix the issue, this seems risky, so I’m hesitant to do this work unless there is a high level of confidence that is will fix the issue.
2. Reduce the reliance of ajax and pagination on blocks, I’m happy to do this, but the vast majority of my users access the article page directly and through mobile devices. For example yesterday we had 550K impressions on mobile and 7K impressions on desktop.
What specifically should I be looking for to reduce AJAX calls and pagination? I can’t see any specifically on the article pages.
At this point I’m willing to forgo almost any functionality that is not crucial to our business to ensure stability.
The site is http://www.shwemom.com
Cheers,
Mick
Hi there,
I’m trying to do some SEO optimization and I’ve realized that the front page using blocks isn’t the best, since there isn’t a lot of text in google’s Text-Only cache. I have two ideas I’d like to try, but I’m not sure if they’re do-able with the theme’s current capabilities:
1) I’d like all photos on the homepage that are rendered by the blocks/modules to use an “alt” tag.
2) I’d like all excerpts to be the meta description instead of the first X amount of words in the post.
Does anyone know where I can tweak these? Thank you!
Best,
Miranda
Recently I’ve had trouble that when I try to add a post to featured block, it does not show up in the above the fold block section for featured. I’m up to date on WP and Theme versions. Any thoughts on what might be causing this?
Thanks.
All of the block settings are and were enabled. I also cleared cache, regenerated thumbs, still an issue.
My site is private due to being a work effort.
Can you please email me and i’ll set you up with a login?

The ” Lees meer / Read more ” button goes black but i would like it to stay as it is when you don’t hover.
please correct me if necessary,i am very new to CSS.
Hello modaestrat,
1,3)Using the post ID for your desired post, you can hide the related articles and author box for this post. Try the code below and place it in Theme panel->Custom CSS area.
The code is ->
.postid-380 .author-box-wrap, .td_block_related_posts {
display:none;
}
The result is here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/tnSmf1IwoG
5)Notice that the category tags for Related Articles should have to be enabled from Theme panel->Block Settings ->Category Tag on Modules/Blocks, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/NsO1MhdZsTc Then if you want to display the meta info container (author, date, and comments counter) you should make some changes in order to achieve this, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/pLXvabdP1tA and then use a bit of CSS code to adjust these details, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/zjHZlHbsOjo6
The code is ->
.td_module_related_posts .td-module-title{
margin-bottom:2px;
}
If the future, if you want to make your design, you will have to consult our useful guide here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/create-custom-code-using-the-browsers-inspector/ because there you will find the method by which you can create your custom code yourself.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the message!
Hello,
I found this, along with similar posts, while trying to achieve the same: The mobile menu instead of the full/mega menu on portrait tablet view.
I believe I’ve found a solution which I’d like to share, I have added the following code to my child theme:
@media (max-width: 1018px) {
#td-outer-wrap {
overflow: auto;
margin: auto;
width: 100%;
-webkit-transition: transform 0.7s ease;
-moz-transition: transform 0.7s ease;
-o-transition: transform 0.7s ease;
transition: transform 0.7s ease;
-webkit-transform-origin: 50% 200px 0;
-moz-transform-origin: 50% 200px 0;
-o-transform-origin: 50% 200px 0;
transform-origin: 50% 200px 0;
}
}
@media (max-width: 1018px) {
#td-top-mobile-toggle {
display: inline-block;
position: relative;
}
}
@media (max-width: 1018px) {
.admin-bar #td-mobile-nav {
padding-top: 46px;
}
}
@media (max-width: 1018px) {
#td-header-menu .menu-mega-topics-container{
display:none;
}
}
}
I’ve yet to test this very extensively, so if anyone uses this and identifies any issues, please share.
I hope it helps.
Thanks.
Hi,
Please provide more details about what exactly you are trying to achieve with the post, so I can try to give you a solution. I do not understand what table you want to insert in the post content. I suggested how you can add a block for example in the post content, in the previous reply. If you have a widget that you need to insert and it has a code that you must enter, try entering in the post template files, as shown in the screenshot.
Thanks
Hi,
Thank you for the extensive explanation.
I got it for the most part running now, exept the side bar is gone now.
I got the page template now up at : page builder + page title
How do i get the side bar back 🙂 ?
EDIT:
In this image i see you recreate a sidebar in visual composer. Is that the way to get the sidebar back ?
