Hello !
Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate ALL non theme-related plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.
Thank you !
I am in the process of upgrading to 9.8. Took the safe bet and made a local copy of the site first (good idea it turns out :P)
I still have a few things to work out before changing the actual site. There is however one thing I can´t get my head around, and that is the pagination for comments. Some of my posts have well over 100 comments that gets divided up into pages of 50. Before I used the Child Theme functionality to alter how the comment pagination was display (for reference). Since pretty much all the Child Theme functionality is gone I wonder how I can make this work again, without altering the actual theme files.
Having a small text just saying “Newer Comments” is´nt really so great. Otherwise really excited about the update.
A previous developer did a bad thing and didn’t use a child theme. Would you mind Emailing us a clean copy of Newspaper 9.7.3 so we can compare for changes? Thanks!
Hi Vlad, I deactivated child theme and activated main newspaper theme, I deactivated all plugins except TD Composer and I flushed cache and the error still occurs!!
Does this look like a familiar problem? Again please note that it is happening on both sites the main and the sub.domain version. What could it be?
Thanks
Haha. Awesome. First I ask you and you give me a solution that does not work with your theme.
And then when you ask me to clarify you respond like that.
This should be a minor modification of the wp_enqueue_scripts in the child theme functions.php. And as the developers of the theme I thought you would be able to answer this easily.
But instead you ask me to get a developer to dig into how the theme works. Great thanks…
I want to add a query string to bust the browser cache for returning visitors so that they get the new css styles from my child theme when we are making design updates. Like this:
<link rel=’stylesheet’ id=’td-theme-child-css’ href=’https://lastat3.wpengine.com/wp-content/themes/lastat-nyheter/style.css?ver=3.0′ type=’text/css’ media=’all’ />
I read a lot of articles about this and most referred to modifying the wp_enqueue_scripts. But I couldn’t get that to work when trying to modifying the code that is in the child theme by default.
I tried the code you linked to above by adding it in Code Snippets but it did not work. This is what it looks when running it on my website:

I would prefer it it added the version that I specify in my child theme css stylesheet but filemtime or anything other will work just as well.
How could I do that?
No, the pages are not cached. As soon as I switch from child-theme to default it works.

Hello,
when I use the default settings for categories (no cloud template) the setting of the “Article Display View” has no effect on the output. It always stays the same, no matter which layout I choose.
This also is a bug when using a child theme. Switching to the default theme makes changing Article Display View possible.
Still Newspaper’s child-theme-support is very poor and should be tested.
Hello !
If you have not used the Child Theme untill now then you don’t need to update it. You don’t have to keep it even installed. The tagdiv cloud library is a plugin that gives you access to all of our demos and features and tagDiv composer is the one that helps you modify it so you can create a fully custom website.
The answer is no. If you haven’t used child theme untill now, you can delete it and stick to main theme.
What I suggest is to backup before updating and also take a look through our updated tutorial for installation and updating the Newspaper Theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ ( I recommend updating via FTP or WordPress )
Thank you !
Hi!
I can’t really understand the relationship between “TagDiv Cloud Library plugin” and the “Child theme”.
My questioning:
– Do I have to use the “Child theme” or the “TagDiv Cloud Library plugin” take care of everything when I do the next theme update?
– When I next update, will it not overwrite my Menu changes, categories, etc.? ?
I don’t know if I still have to use the “Child theme” or if the “TagDiv Cloud Library plugin” allows to secure my changes (categories, menu, etc …).
Thank you for bringing me your clarifications to reassure me and that I correctly install my theme.
I need to install 4 sites with the theme NewsPaper 9 in the coming weeks. Two now!
And I have 4 sites with old versions of NewsPaper which I then have to update.
Your help and advice are therefore essential.
Cordially.
Hi
After some larger design updates I would like to force visitors to get the new theme css file by adding the child theme version as a query string to the css.
Today the child theme css looks like this in the head section:
https://i.imgur.com/oq65B4z.png
I have the following script in my child theme functions.php:
add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘theme_enqueue_styles’, 11);
function theme_enqueue_styles() {
wp_enqueue_style(‘td-theme’, get_template_directory_uri() . ‘/style.css’, ”, TD_THEME_VERSION, ‘all’ );
wp_enqueue_style(‘td-theme-child’, get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . ‘/style.css’, array(‘td-theme’), TD_THEME_VERSION . ‘c’, ‘all’ );
}
How would I modify the wp_enqueue_scripts above to achieve that?

Hi,
Now this is quite an unusual issue. Looks like when I click on the drop-down arrow it refreshes the page, like a misclick on the current language menu item.
For me it works fine on mobile – https://prnt.sc/osimjj -> https://prnt.sc/osimgk
I found a similar topic about this issue here – https://wpml.org/forums/topic/opening-language-switcher-drop-down-causes-refresh-page/
You could try the javascript code mentioned there, in the theme or child theme functions file. Then check if the issue is solved.
Thanks
