Theme updates are becoming a problem especially if there are customization made to certain files.
From what I understand the last theme update – updated Visual Composer, however multiple files reverted any changes I made to them.
How do I go about updating the theme without losing my changes. This is frustrating and I do not recall at all having these issues with other themes.
It it not feasible to have to redo all the custom coding again and not updating the files doesn’t seem like an option because there could be important changes that I could be missing by excluding them from the update.
How can I update the theme without losing my changes?
Hi

Hi,
I have a problem with the home page on my site and I think with visual composer. I’m trying to edit the page so that the posts I create appear under the categories I place them in.
my site is http://www.sonorama.com.ec/n/.
Also when I go to appearence/personalize this appears on the screen Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 52428800 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 16 bytes) in /nfs/c03/h06/mnt/51770/domains/sonorama.com.ec/html/n/wp-content/plugins/ubermenu/admin/settings-api.class.php on line 141
Could I get your assistance with this?
Thanks,
Marcia
Hi
I’ve checked this on my side with Speed Booster plugin active and works fine: http://screencast.com/t/npwUeqk8t Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer and Speed Booster, clear all caches and test again.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks!
Hi,
Please make sure you install the correct version of visual composer. The one that comes with the theme: http://screencast.com/t/d2Pcop9KtNJo
If you have installed another version of the plugin, please remove it and install the correct one.
If the problem is still there, please try to disable all other plugins except visual composer and see if it’s not a plugin conflict.
Thanks
Yes, those screenshots represent the area I am working on. I can see, based on your screenshots, that the Visual Composer has not changed their options. So I don’t know what changed. I just know that prior to the latest update (which is AWESOME!), the most current events displayed first. I’m guessing that a lot of people who use the Newspaper theme have also been using The Events Calendar plugin, so if we can figure this out, it will probably be helpful to many of us. I am also requesting help in the forums of The Events Calendar.
Thank you for your help.
Buna
Multumesc!
Hello jerryd,
I’m guessing you are editing a page in visual composer. Please check if you did not remove other parts of the code as well. If this is not the case, sometimes the visual composer row gets messed up and needs to be replaced. Simply delete the row that contained the social counter and recreate it using the 2/3 + 1/3 layout.
Thank you!
Hi
I’ve checked your site and noticed that the four small modules on the left of big grid are empty, there are no posts to be displayed: http://screencast.com/t/9xLQu6zE5xO Check if you have enough posts according with the grid’s settings from Visual Composer: http://screencast.com/t/LWIN8ZUSX I mean if you have at least 5 posts in the category selected, or in others filters that you have set. Also clear all caches and test again.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks!
Hi
Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches, browser cache too, make sure that the Show Featured Image is enabled: http://screencast.com/t/txJm270T8M5 and test again.
Let us know how it goes and if the problem persist please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your login credentials and we will inspect this issue as soon as possible, also include a link to this topic.
Thanks!
Hi,
Please note that it might take a while until your ads to appear (even a few days). You can try it without any plugins active, leave only Visual Composer active, clear cache and check it again.
I have checked your site and the adsense code is there. The theme makes it responsive and the ad will fill the available space. You can also test your ad code using a WordPress text widget to place the ad into your page or sidebar, if your ad code works/was approved this widget should display the ad.
Thanks!
Hi after having cleared the cache and deactivated all the plugins except the Visual Composer, nothing has changed. Still the non latest posts appear (and alway the same posts appear).
Hi
I’ve test this on my side with the current theme version available on themeforedt (V 2.2.1) and works fine: http://screencast.com/t/I0mn57MrZv Try to clear all caches, deactivate the plugins except Visual Composer and test again.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks!
Hi,
I’m using several types of Visual Composer-grids on my Newspaper-homepage for showcasing products and topics. Before displaying the actual picture/thumb, there is a grey-coloured area which irritates some users. It’s really annoying and it’s always happening – doesn’t matter if I have a large grid with 10+ thumbs or just one with two thumbs. Is there a chance to minimize or shut off these effects (which is probably due to loading times of the thumbs)?
Hints appreciated.
Hi Pandian,
It seems that i cannot see the problem because your slider is not sliding. This might be due to some errors in your console: http://screencast.com/t/yZfxO23EA3
Please try to disable all your plugins except visual composer and check your site again. It might be a plugin issue.
Let me know how it goes!
Thanks.
Hi,
1. You can hide post views via custom css in Theme Panel > Custom Css – http://screencast.com/t/nwr7yQRBX
.td-post-views {
display: none;
}
2. Please make sure you select all elements from Visual Composer settings(and save) – http://screencast.com/t/CLOL9hsaZ
3. Please check the Tag template and change the module(the search module doesn’t exist in version 6) – http://screencast.com/t/Tb918utRX
Thanks!
Hi,
I recommend to upgrade to the latest version of the theme 6.5.1 so it will be no issues, please check this guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
We will test latest version of Visual Composer also with Newspaper 4 but we need some time to do this.
Thanks!
Hi,
I have checked your page on desktop and did not found any issues, the background image is loading fine – http://screencast.com/t/o3zfabXVFa Do you have this issue on specific browser?
I also checked on an Ipod and you are right the image is not loading.
Please disable all your plugins except of Visual Composer, clear cache and check again. Also make sure you use the latest theme version 6.5.1 and update the Visual Composer to the latest version 4.7.4.
If the issue persist please provide about your settings for that row(some screenshots may help) so I can recreate it on my side as I could not recreate this(I have used a parallax image and work on mobile device).
Thanks!
Hi,
This can happen when loading the font file (which contains those icons) from another host/url. I have checked your browser’s console and you have some errors – http://screencast.com/t/rmymkQquIbS
The solution would be to load them from the same url as the site or try this solution – http://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/71630/font-blocked-from-loading-by-cross-origin-resource-sharing-policy-no-access-co
If the problem is still there, you can also try to disable all your plugins except visual composer and see if it’s not a conflicting plugin.
Thanks!
I am using The Events Calendar plugin and displaying events from the calendar on my home page through the use of tags. However, there is no option on the visual composer to sort items from least recent, only from most recent. It did work correctly before the update, showing events from most current to future events. My website is onechristianvoice.com.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you might have on this.
Hi
I run Newspaper
Version: 4.6.2
at
http://www.alltomtrav.info
Does this mean that I have a security hole because of Visual Composer??????
Hello!
In one of my pages, I have a parallax section I created using Visual Composer but the background image isn’t loading properly. Sometimes it doesn’t load on desktop and it never loads on mobile.
You can see it here: http://mktg.mx/alianzas/octopus-agencia-de-marketing-digital/
Thanks a lot for the help!
Hi,
Also you could try to update the theme and try the shim version of VC – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/disable-visual-composer/
Thanks!
Hi,
Please check this without any plugins except of Visual Composer, clear cache and re-save your permalinks. Maybe the permalinks are affected by a plugin that you use.
Also please check if you have added a custom code to your page, that may add the numbers to the links. For example it could be an ad code, if you use different then adsense.
Thanks!
Hi,
You have this issue because you use Visual Composer on posts page, unfortunately the tagdiv gallery was not designed for to be used in a text block. We will take a look at this and we will try to fix it in a future update. Please try thsi custom css until we fix this: http://screencast.com/t/nObvBKsvR
.single .wpb_text_column .td-gallery-slide-copywrite {
background-color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8);
display: inline-block;
float: left;
font-size: 11px;
font-style: italic;
line-height: 1;
padding: 4px 6px;
text-align: left;
}
.single .wpb_text_column .td-doubleSlider-1 .td-slide-item .td-slide-galery-figure img {
bottom: -50%;
left: -85%;
margin: auto;
overflow: auto;
position: absolute;
right: -50%;
top: -50%;
}
Thanks!
