Check to make sure you didn’t paste in a CSS or text element into a widget or elsewhere with garbage characters, or direct from MS Word, etc.

Ideally, open your page in text editor or find the line 233 noted in error and look at what is there which is not clean text (UTF-8).

The simpler way to check errors in your feed is here:
http://validator.w3.org/feed/

this can also SHOW you the error in your text that needs to be fixed 🙂
(it’s what I use when my feed gets borked…)

Hi,
you don’t need to duplicate the expires header section. I just changed the method I was using from days to seconds. Doesn’t matter either way. 🙂

Nothing you can do about elements loaded exetnally like add this .css

For the local .css files you need to optimize those by either minifying them manually, and make sure they are enqued properly with the speedbooster plugin.

How to set fullwidth header background? And some more doubts - reply

Thanks for the reply!

About n. 1, I see you are right, they used black background color to “complete” the fullwidth effect. Anyway, I should have explain myself better:

I’m going to use an illustration on my header, but I want the image to cover all the width of the header, I don’t want the margin on sides, and I can’t use background color to “complete” the sides of the header because it would look like weird (it’s a colorful illustration and I want continuity).

Ideally I would use an background image (fullwidth) + logo, but since that is not possible with this theme, I though that the Style 3 header would be the solution (combining the background illustration and the logo in one image and setting it as the fullwidth logo at theme panel), but now I see that even in the fullwidth logo I still have margins on sides.

Anyway, please tell me if, by CSS, it’s possible to have a real fullwidth image background on header (without any margin on sides). If not, I think the alternative could be use the boxed version with background image and transparent header, right?

Hi,
1. There is used Style 3 for the header and black color for Header color http://screencast.com/t/K8OdnFqtJdAQ
Also if there are some spaces, margins, etc can be tuned via CSS.

2. I guess you mean on IE8 which is an old browser, IE8 browser don’t support responsive sites, just resize the browser and you will see that the site have fixed size.

3. Here you should check the Upload folder to have write permission. Could be from there.

Hi guys !
Newspaper is a beautiful theme but if one has many images need many MB for that
I have disable some cropping by commenting each line // for the image size that are not used .
A good idea is we can make extra sizes only for featured images ( I have a fashion Site with many images and galleries )

I use the Big slider but many times the images is smaller from Big image 745×483 px
how I can set the .iosSlider image height and width on css for stretch image to full size

Hi
only use the mod_pagespeed stuff if your web hosting provider has Google mod_pagespeed installed – ask them about that, and what functions they support. Don’t use that if your host doesn’t have it installed.

Is not posible, sorry for that.
What you can do is to use this template: Homepage – with article list and add the slider directly in code, something like here: http://screencast.com/t/wvDhzF7TZVBs

You add the shortcode of the slider there, but the slider doesn’t know on what column is and you need to fix the height via CSS

You can make this with some CSS

Add this CSS in Theme panel -> Custom CSS

.widget_categories li a {
    color: #FFFFFF;
    margin: 4px 0 10px;
    padding: 4px 10px 4px 12px;
}

and this to add color for each button:

}

The mobile score is better ;). But in the screenshots appears empty the mobile screen :S

In w3 total cache i only check the Page Cache in the general settings tab or i need make more changes in the other tabs?

The option of Minify should be enable?

I use http://cssminifier.com/ for my style.css and works but i realized another pagespeed test ando mobile score was 59.

What can i do to improve this? The thing that appear in the list are of jetpack pluging, contact-form, and things of the theme. The screenshots in mobile test only show the menu with any format, and in the desktop text the screen was empty.

I compare the source code of the theme demo with the souce code of my page and its too different. :S. I think this theme is too complicated to config correctly to improve the speed. Its necessary a guide to config the plugins like the theme demo, with the same options, then each user could comment your personal issues. If in the demo has been changed .htaccess for improve the speed and changed a w3 total cache, i think its necessary a guide because the speed of theme is one of best things that it have. If you make a bad config of this items, the theme is slowly like another themes.

Another question, i update the theme with the patch folder, is better reinstall all theme or is the same? I tell this because one of the updates was “clean code” and in my <head> there are a lot of code, more than in the theme demo and another pages that the people put here in the other posts :S

I made test in pagespeed and the score of mobile version its poor. the tool shows this problems. ¿How can i fix this problems?

Is something with autoformating from wordpress editor, what you can do is to add a padding-bottom on tabs, try this CSS

Please also note that I am using shortcodes in the templates that are used by plugins I have installed. I also set my posts to the Video format. And I have modified the child theme CSS to add a top margin to P tags using this CSS code:

.format-video p {margin-top: 21px !important; padding-top:0 !important;}

From what I can see, when the second template gets adding, it removes the blank lines surrounding the text, and WordPress doesn’t format it automatically as a paragraph because of it.

I’d like to reduce the height of the slider background on smartphones, so that there is less background visible above and below the slider so the slider uses less vertical space. What has to be added or changed to the css to achieve this?

The forum where I found the plugin asks for the code to be inserted before </head>. Do I need to paste it in all php files or only in style.css?

Hi, what I’m trying to do is make the Logo fit the hole (Yellow) area at the top. I’ve tried to find the CSS coding myself but I’m rather lost.

I tried to use the
HEADER ALIGNMENT UP/DOWN
Move the header up/down (ex. -10) help with the placement but doesn’t seem to help.
