I found an article where someone asks Googles John Mueller about this specific question.

John Mueller (Google) reply:

“Okay. Now I don’t know, how what the specific page would be and where that might be coming from. What one of the things that sometimes happens is we need to be able to fetch the CSS files for these pages as well so that we can see what they look like. And sometimes we either don’t have enough time to do that for your pages, or your server is a bit slow, and we don’t have enough capacity to get that very quickly. And then the test might fail. So if we can’t get the CSS, then it might look like the page isn’t really mobile-friendly. And usually this is something that settles down over time and maybe you’ll see individual pages that fall into the state. But in general, that’s something I wouldn’t really worry about. If the page is really mobile-friendly, if for the most part other pages on your website are seen as mobile-friendly, then that would generally be fine. It might fluctuate a little bit. You might see that as a warning in Search Console but I wouldn’t worry too much about it if you’re really sure that everything else is lined up properly.”

So hopefully I will not have to abandon this theme. 🙂

For some reason, the CSS with data in is highlighted in blue and doesn’t allow me to select and change it. Check here: https://photos.app.goo.gl/gfARXueg274N2YD56d

Also, what would be your recommended image size? I don’t want the featured image to be so high. And how to change all the featured images to the same size across the entire site?

Cheers Simion.

Hi,
I installed tagDiv Speed Booster plugin on my blog running Newspaper 9.2.2, I followed https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ guide, but without results in google page insights for problem “Remove render blocking css/js”.

I’m wondering if tagDiv Speed Booster plugin is compatible with Newspaper 9.2.2.

thanks for help!

Hi,
You can try couple of things, first activate the mobile theme of Newspaper, that will bring the speed upto/over 45 (mobile).

Next you need to check the render blocking scripts.
I used this tutorial to bring those down. (you need to understand coding for a little while)
https://searchtides.com/eliminate-render-blocking-javascript-css-fold-content/

Also I am using lot of plugins to get the work done, You can also check some for yourself.

JCH Optimize is a good one to bring the speed index up. But remember if with plugins, the website might not work properly. So, keep experimenting.

I use WP Super chache, since any other cache plugin does not make the new stories appear, and you would end up cleaning the cache every time you post a new story/article. It is not the best Cache plugin, but seems to be the only one working with Newspaper.

We also use WP Smush Pro to keep the images size low.

Some of the plugins might reduce the desktop site index, as it puts more load on server, so make sure you have good RAM and CPU on the server.

Newspaper requires good amount of resources to be quick, no matter what anyone says you need good amount of RAM and CPU for your site to be fast if you are using this theme :).

However, Newspaper is much better than other themes we have seen, as they keep it updated and their support is excellent. Only thing missing here is infinite article load and infinite smart list load. Probably we will see it in the next update. That will make bounce rate lower and also time spend on site higher.
Hope all this helps!

I am replying to my old question because I have a new question about logo header images
and I can’t find a way in my account to submit a New Question.

Question January 12, 2019 —

I’m using the Newsmag 4.7 Fashion Magazine Demo install but want to revamp it into more of a Commentary & articles site. I kept “Fashion” because I like the styling.

I want to use a HEADER LOGO up to 1024 px (or greater) in Width
& I have a version up to 2500 px wide by 500 px height.

I want a Retina Image HEADER Style (the LOGO is already IN the Header image) that is responsive, full width when the browser reports it & then responsive scaling of the header down to Mobile setting.

Besides changing CSS files, what is the most direct way to alter necessary files so that NewsMag offers another Header Style with my preferences?

Using Header Style 8, despite the media library settings for this Header Image, my header image, though loaded with correct W & H pixels, only loads to the default max LOGO image in Newsmag which I guess is 572px.

What is being loaded from the Media Library is correct — width=”1199″ height=”245″ —
<img src="https://www.mytest.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/olympus-header-copy5-2500.png" width="1199" height="245" />

BUT the Newsmag page surrounds the same image with this instead–

<div class="td-header-sp-logo">
            <h1 class="td-logo"><a href="https://www.mytest.com/">
		<img src="https://www.mytest.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/header-copy5-2500.png" alt="" width="572" />
		<span class="td-visual-hidden">View from Olympus</span>
	</a>
	</h1>        </div>

I’d like to apply something like this generated with the Demo install–
`
<div class="td-full-screen-header-image-wrap"><div id="td-full-screen-header-image" class="td-image-gradient"><div class="td_marker_animation" style="height: 0; width: 0"></div></div></div>

Are there php files where I should also modify the generation page preferences besides overwriting the default CSS?

Thank you for having the patience to read this!

Hello, the product pictures under the big product pictures are in low quality. Thats with every product.
Examples:
http://prntscr.com/m6apvi (Link: https://champlife.de/produkt/champlife-poster-set-alle-drei-poster)
http://prntscr.com/m6aqc2 (Link: https://champlife.de/produkt/persoenliche-beratung-mit-nino)

How can I bringt them to high quality?

More Information for you:

I added custom css:
.thumbnails.slider .caroufredsel_wrapper {
height: 250px !important;
}

I did that, because the little pictures used to be cropped, you can see it here:
https://prnt.sc/m52lzf
https://prnt.sc/m52mhb

I already spoke with WooCommerce, they told me that:
http://prntscr.com/m6as1m
“Since you know the size of the thumbnails – 250px, contact the theme developer and let them know they need to assist you in setting the global setting for the thumbnails to 250px. That will force the change, and any updates will keep that change.”

So I hope you can help me with that.
Thank you

I solved the problem above by changing the columns padding to 0 px, and paste this to the phones repsonsive CSS section.

But one last question anyway. The 8 px botton padding works pefect for the image block as well as for the column block. Exept from when the block after is a text block without a heading. The text then comes to close to the picture, both on desktop and mobile. Is this possible to adjust as well?

Thanks a million in advance.

Wow – so border options shown in the CSS tab in Newspaper theme aren’t activated, even though most real-life newspapers use them? They only work in the lower-spec Newsmag theme? Is there a page with CSS codes for borders in Newspaper then?

Hi all,

I’m trying to get Newspaper tagDiv Composer play nicely with our domain mapper plugin.

It seems to be throwing a cross origin whenever it loads up the editor (never stops spinning).

It seems to be throwing when it gets to this part of the code in css-live.php line 396

// Everything must be done onLoad, to be sure that all live css components are in loaded.
jQuery( window ).load(function(){
if ( ‘undefined’ !== typeof window.parent.editorChangeHandler ) {

Not sure what’s going but it seems to be making a call to jquery using the un-mapped url

http://localnetwork.napco.com/our-website/wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.js:2:26863

Has anyone experienced this before?

It works when I turn off the domain mapper.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I am still having the same issue with the background gradient of the Main Menu.
I have been trying to override the CSS and was able to get it to work for the sticky menu only. I want them to have the same custom background gradient for both.
I am not sure if this is a browser cache issue?
URL: http://www.theravendaily.com/
Custom CSS I have:
.td-fast-news .td-header-wrap .td-header-menu-wrap-full, .td-fast-news .td-header-menu-wrap.td-affix {
background: linear-gradient(to right, #00274d 0, #00539e 25%, #0078e5 100%) !important;
}
Thanks so much for your help ahead of time!

Thanks a million. The provided CSS totally solved the desktop issue; it looks perfect now.

On my iPhone I still have a larger padding above the two portrait format pictures. Also I have a small extra padding to the right of the first portrait picture, and dito to the left of the second portrait format picture (in the column block).

Are those issues possible to sole as well?

Thanks again.

Hi,

Unfortunately those are Gutenberg settings not Newspaper and we can not change those settings, but if you want we can provide you a css that change the padding for those images
https://www.screencast.com/t/bcIgqEX1Z
Just add this custom css in Newspaper>theme panel>Custom code>Custom css -.
.single .wp-block-column:not(:last-child) {
margin-right: 5px;
}
.single .wp-block-column:not(:first-child) {
margin-left: 5px;
}
.single .wp-block-image{
margin-bottom: 8px;
}
.single .has-2-columns .wp-block-column{
margin-bottom: 0px;
}

Hope this will help you!
Thanks.

Hello

Having updated to the Gutenberg editor I am experiencing some challenges with the paddings between the pictures.

1. Using two picture blocks after each other give me a padding twice the size I had before the upgrade. I find the smaller padding nicer.

2. I use columns block (not the picture gallery block) when I have two portrait format pictures; as this shows the pictures next to each other on desktop and one under the other on mobile. But I get a huge padding between the two pictures on desktop and also bigger padding between the column block and the next picture block than usually.

Is this something which will be changed in next theme updates? Is it possible to create a “same padding as before Gutenberg” adjustment by CSS code?

New padding with Gutenberg: https://test.ladiesabroad.se/2019/01/gutte-pyrgos-pa-santorini-alltsa/

Old (nice) padding: https://www.ladiesabroad.se/2019/01/hong-kong-utflykt-macao.html

Thanks from Lena

Hello,

Your css selector could not be specific enough. The browser inspector will show you which css code applies to the specific element so you might want to use it to create your custom css. You can try to add !important to your code like so:

.customcssclass .entry-title > a { font-weight: 900!important; }

Thank you!

Calin
tagDiv Staff

Hi,

Yes that is normal, but if you want to remove that gap, you can use custom css.
Let me know if you want to this.

Thanks.

Good Morning,

I have customized the css class in a widget that I show in the news, because I want to capitalize the title of the news and the css customizer does not seem to work.

Can anybody help me? I’ve built the css code like this:
