Hello,
Mainly we bought this theme for the optimization and loading speed.
But after installing the result is very poor, PageSpeed shows 63/100 in mobiles, very different than what shows its demo 95/100.
Install the “demo data” and don’t show the images properly.
We are very disappointed with the purchase, any solution? or I can request a refund?

Your image width must be at least 745x483 as you can see on our demo – http://screencast.com/t/Ohpp7LDCNPwx to fill the whole container. If your featured image is smaller, please note that WordPress doesn’t enlarge images and you will need to use plugin like Thumbnail Upscale to enlarge thumbnails: https://wordpress.org/plugins/thumbnail-upscale/ For upscale use a combination of plugins Thumbnail Upscale + Force Regenerate.

Do you refer to the hover color? – http://screencast.com/t/x66xnFNf1t3O This is the theme accent color that is used also on hover – http://screencast.com/t/VKEX5PbHc and you can change it via custom css depending what module(if you use blog for you homepage) do you use.
Also if you are using blocks on your page if you change the background color for your block title it will change automatically the hover color for your articles titles like you ca see on our demo – http://screencast.com/t/MI5hGnqlh8 – http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/

Hi,
The activation warning appears a few days after you have installed the theme, till then you can use the theme. When you get the activation warning and activate the theme, it will not affect the demo content, your own articles or options that you have set in Theme Panel.

Thanks but I’ve tried this and nothing seems to work.
One thing I have just thought of though is that when I first got the theme I installed the “demo” theme but didn’t let it fully complete as I think my internet cut off.
Could this be the issue and is it worth trying to reinstall it again from scratch? I’m assuming this isn’t a common issue with the theme?
Presumably. I haven’t done that. I build my own content and don’t use the demo content for anything.

Hello All,
Just bought the theme today and read documentation. It is a great theme. I have some problems with the theme.
1. On the front page i want to use Block 7 with 2 COLUMNS >> http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-7/, and 2 COLUMNS BLOCK 2 http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-2/. On my website they look with 3 columns the both blocks. Why?
2. Here the pictures have the same dimension in blocks http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-2/. On my website the pictures dont have the same dimension (featured image).
3. In categories “SHOW FEATURED SLIDER” dont work. From 4 posts the slider show only one pic from one post.
The site has 6 post on it, posted before install the theme.

I downloaded the demo version of newsmag. Now I am trying to modify everything to my own material.
Im struggling how to modify the homepage blocks.
For example, the “fashion week” block under the featured pictures, how do I change this block to my own articles???

When I purchased the Newspaper theme I installed it and immediately installed the DEMO and liked it so much I started filling in content and modifying it.
Then I noticed I had not ACTIVATED the theme yet.
My question is when I activate the theme will it wipe out the DEMO? I hope not because I really like it and was hoping to modify it for my needs and content.
If it will wipe out the DEMO, how I can I preserve what I have already done?

I deactivated all the plugins and still see the large logo on the retina display.
I inspected element and changed the max-height to 90px and it seems to load correctly just like the newsmag demo. Would this be an acceptable solution?

Regarding the icons, I shared your reply with my hosting support team for their help in changing the htaccess and they came back with the below.
I have added in your website .htaccess the directive that was suggested in the article, however as I checked the characters remain unchanged, but via Chrome I am able to see another result:

I think it’s because a finite number of people want to share that info and/or are perhaps not interested, or just lazy/busy. Also some folks come/go, switch to Newspaper theme, or perhaps another theme altogether. Funnily enough this cane up again a few days back, also:

I do think it would be neat to have a “showcase” topic but I don’t think anybody has the time to keep updating that, checking to see if sites still using the theme, etc.
Most folks are more anxious to solve a problem, than necessarily see what somebody else is doing. I tend to follow my own way and don’t look at others’ sites as a research thing, and the demo does a fairly decent job showing possibilities.
I think if 100 people participate it might be worthwhile; if 10 people do, not so much.
Probably somebody with a blog about WP could do a “10 awesome sites running NewsMag” or something like that.
If somebody were so inclined, they could (ahem) troll through all the posts where folks are pasting in their site URLS, compile that list then do a post with a list of sites by name, language and URL, and request THAT be made into a sticky … so, I encourage you to possibly do that if you have the time (I sure don’t).
If this were my theme, I admit I’d be inclined to do something like that.

Regarding the icons showing squares and chinese letters issue I’ve noticed these errors in browser’s console which pointing to theme’s icons fonts: http://screencast.com/t/BXRl080N2b and also noticed you use cdn. This usually happens when loading the font file (which contains those icons) from another host/url like your case of using cdn.
The solution would be to load them from the same url as the site or try this solution – http://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/71630/font-blocked-from-loading-by-cross-origin-resource-sharing-policy-no-access-co

Unfortunately the bbpress plugin doesn’t have any settings regarding comments moderation you can try a plugin like this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/bbpressmoderation/ or search fro another solution online.
There are a collection of fonts used by default in newspaper theme, you can find them here: http://screencast.com/t/0bFKu7yWba and change them from the custom typography section in theme panel.

How can i fix this? I want my post to show the views from outside the post too.

@apolitikal Please also test this without using any plugins and also make sure that you empty all caches, disable all js/css/html compression and test again. I’ve tested this as Alin instructed above and found no issues using the latest theme version so this should also work for you.

Checking your site using google’s pagespeed testing tool have noticed a server response time issue: http://screencast.com/t/GdslWWzKi which could cause the slow login.
There are many factors which can be taken into consideration concerning server’s response time. You can use google’s improvement recommendation on this: https://developers.google.com/speed/docs/insights/Server
I suggest you first try this without any other plugins active, leave just VC plugin active the check again.
Also consider using a cache plugin and to improve the loading speed look the mysql query cache: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/query-cache.html We also use it on our demo.

Demo data is really just intended for creating a demo site, such as to show client for mockups; not for adding to existing content.
Ideally you should revert to backup of your live site and without the demo content imported!
If you delete a page and then it’s “back” — that is your caching. Not the theme. The demo content is a static file, it doesn’t suddenly keep publishing new content at set intervals.

a)i tried all things your listed options, except “you have to set a featured video”, nothing works.
I dont understand what is meant by “set a featured video”.
Do we have to set every single video imported to the site, to featured image? but this doesn’t make sense.
We use a video robot and it imports different videos from youtube etc.
The index page shows these different videos and they change hourly. In the hundreds.
But still after clicking on them it opens the page but there is no video.
I didn’t set up a single post page. We just installed the theme and child theme as in documentation,

Used Block 8
-multiple category filter(hollywood, rides, luxury)
-Random Posts
Limit Post Number-5 (this is set automatically)
Pagination – infinite load is set
(load more was also tried. this shows on page. but when clicked its shows load circle but nothing more is added or changed. so this doesn’t work either. FYI.)
But please help with the Infinite Load.
Without these the site is useless 🙁
