Hi, Radu!
I’m just glad you figured out a way to do the async ads (remember my post way back in the “coding” category). That is one tricky beast!
By the way … one way to make a quick and easy “web safe fonts” methodology for folks would be to change the default fonts in your main style.css to something like this:
font-family: Segoe, "Segoe UI", "DejaVu Sans", "Trebuchet MS", Verdana, sans-serif
font-family: Constantia, "Lucida Bright", "DejaVu Serif", Georgia, serif
and then by default folks could simply leave fonts as “default” in the theme customizer; -or- switch on the Google fonts if they needed them.
This would be a super simple way for you to answer everybody’s thing about fallback to web-safe fonts without having to recode.
Just use the above in your style vs the Google fonts, and then let people turn “on” the Google fonts to match your demo.
OR: you could provide an alt-stlye.css using above replacement, and then tell folks in docs to rename to style.css to use web safe fonts.
Just an idea 🙂 (I was playing around with that).
Of course, this doesn’t solve the load of the fonts in the functions.php file by default, but a savvy person could strip that out if they knew they only wanted to use web fonts.
I could post a how-to on this ‘hack’ but I’m going to presume at some point it would be better to have the Google fonts be optional “all off” and “don’t load in header the pulls to Google CDN” vs doing hacks.
Thinking out loud. 🙂
Hello,
The option Infinite scroll is an option for Blocks(visual composer or widgets) as you can see here: edit a block and set it like this: http://screencast.com/t/4cDAmIcZjZk
Also other settings is Next prev ajax, this option is used for this block on our demo: http://screencast.com/t/RL92yCSX7kR
Please check in console(Firefox or Chrome inspector), to not have js errors.
Thanks!
I bought this theme partly cause the way it looks on the demo regarding bbpress.
There for I do wonder why the to say the least ugly original bbpress layout shows up here and there in the styling. It seems to me the theme is not coded all the way to maintain a good bbpress layout or am I wrong?
Second thing is I now have a problem with my layout.
The regular news flow page for my site comes with no page title whilst a new made category suddenly got blessed with a ugly headline naming the category a headline that is cut of in half and all pages – including original news flow – suddenly are missing out on some kind of padding to the menu making them look very ugly. If I could have uploaded a file here I could have showed how.
I already had to give up the shop feature on my site due to insanely broken layouts regardless my actions when installing this theme on our site and these new findings are not making me a happy camper..
Hello,
Please check on the footer widget the retina logo have an incorrect image link: http://lsport.nl/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/images/demo/logo-footer-retina.png
See here: http://screencast.com/t/7FZjw0bf
Thanks!
Hello,
The demo content from our demo is very huge and is useless for you, because you don’t need 100+ post, and 30+ categories in your site only to delete then.
We can provide an XML file but that import only the posts, files and categories. The all sidebars and widgets will not be imported. So is useless.
The one click demo data install is the best for a quick start.
Thanks for the message!
Hello,
I don’t understand what you want to make, adding a blockquote in block?! Can you show me a screenshot or a link to see the issue.
Here are all the theme quotes style: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/blockquotes-pullquotes/ that is used in article not on Blocks content.
Thanks!
Hi,
I have just purchased your theme and would like to make my site exactly the same as your demo (http://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/full_screen_preview/5489609) in the first place, so I have a basis to customize on. I already know [Theme – Options > Install demo] cannot do this for me.
So how can we do this?
Many thanks to you.
Is there a step by step tutorial showing how to setup my property to look and function like the homepage of the newspaper theme “live demo” shown on theme Forrest?
Thanks,
JTM
Hello,
We fixed the author widget on our demo, now you can include or exclude authors for that widget.
We don’t have a short-code for author boxes only if you make something similar with pagebuilder using photo on left on a column and name and description in right
Thanks!
On the author page, as well as after posts, the author block has more information on it. A bio, web link, and some social media profiles. When I try to use the visual composer to make a custom author section on my About page, the author area looks more like the sidebar on this page: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/author/admin/
I want it to look more like the author block seen in the actual post itself. I will be showing multiple authors like this. How would I go about doing this?
thanks
I’m curious about the code you use for the sidebar Ad seen here http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/asus-xonar-u7-sound-card-hassaba-a-built-in-headphone/ It goes from 300×300 to 250×250, etc. Could you paste the Google code that looks like this?
<style>
.app-comrade-sidebar-responsive { width: 320px; height: 50px; }
@media(min-width: 500px) { .app-comrade-sidebar-responsive { width: 468px; height: 60px; } }
@media(min-width: 800px) { .app-comrade-sidebar-responsive { width: 728px; height: 90px; } }
</style>
<script async src="//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js"></script>
<!-- App Comrade Sidebar Responsive -->
<ins class="adsbygoogle app-comrade-sidebar-responsive"
style="display:inline-block"
data-ad-client="XXXXXX
data-ad-slot="XXXXXXX"></ins>
<script>
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
</script>
I will replace the necessary ID’s with my own. I just have no idea how to customize the Google responsive ad unit.
Also how can I use the theme to insert inline advertisments after the title? The settings only lets you insert inline ads after ‘X’ amount of paragraphs. Would ‘0’ paragraphs insert inline ads right after the title?
Thanks and happy new year,
-Octavian
Hello Ryanx,
We have reports about issues with older phones, we will try to test on an s2 soon. Until then here is what you can try:
1 and 2: please disable the speed booster plugin – it’s in beta. after that try to delete this from site.js http://screencast.com/t/Qn08ZVaOF
3. Disable all your plugins and test the site with a standard homepage and speedbooster enabled. You should achieve similar results as to our demo. We use a stock theme on the demo.
So first of all I’d like to thank you for creating an awesome theme. It really is doing its job on practically every level and so far I’ve encountered only 3 things that do not really suit me.
1. The scroll on mobiles is absolutely horrible for me (tested on Galaxy SII with android 4.1). Instead of going smoothly it’s choppy and requires me to tap the screen repeatedly to scroll up/down. Pointing out that the problem is not only on my site, same thing happens with your demo.
2. My website is in Polish so it requires usage of foreign letters (ą, ł etc.). All the letters appear just fine but when I turn on the tagDiv speed booster, the letters suddenly go lowercase arial (they’re just no longer being formatted).
3. Despite enabling the speed booster, google pagespeed is still throwing out that there is a ton of render blocking js/css (especially on mobile).
If you could help me resolve those 2 issues, I’m honestly giving 11/10 to this theme. Will immensely appreciate it!
Hi, Marius.
The error displayed in all the reviews in your demo page are:
Error: Missing required hCard “author”
Error: Page contains property “logo” which is not part of the schema.
Error: No rich snippet will be generated for this data, because it appears to include multiple reviews of an item, but no aggregate review information.
@mmcmsp I will see what we can do about that
@BigN0701 sorry for the delay, I hope you solve the problem
@Marija1m1 It was not resolved 🙂 it’s a issue that is hunting us for quite some time …. it drive me crazy and it’s hard to debug because it appears just sometimes.
@sbo I will update the theme forest details page shortly.
v 2.1.3
* fixed an ugly bug with slugs that begin with span row and container
* fixed pinterest button media
* improved adsense synchronous ads
* fixed rss excerpt not respecting the wordpress option
* small code improvements
* better windows phone 8 compatibility
* better responsive videos (including dailymotion)
* Better mobile (windows phone 8 and android) expirience on our demo
It’s a general issue. All the reviews in your demo page also display the errors when checked with the Google Richsnippet Tool.
My Shop got completely messed up regarding layout when swooping in and installing the Newspaper theme. Anyone have any experience of the same sort? On my playground site I installed a fresh Woocommerce after installing Newspaper and that worked fine.
On the live site images are not in line with the demo nor the playground site’s layout but are more to be found here and there and kind of everywhere.
Already turned off and on plugins, regenerated thumbnails and such.
mehedi,
see how Radu got the demo to the pagespeed
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
“speed” is a process which requires many tools to accomplish, no one theme “magically” has high pagespeed. YOU need to research and implement many things separate from the theme to achieve a high pagespeed ranking, including NOT using various things like adsense, or plugins which “dial out” to get resources. But, if you follow the link above, Radu explains how they optimized the demo site.
You should also read through this thread, as you may need to update your htacess file for expiration headers, optimize your images, etc.
Hi!
I am having problems with the theme Newspaper. First of all the top menu is not showing. And the speed is not too much as the demo! How to fix this?
And I want to know, how to give the Login on top-right?
Thanks in advance. I need help with this site: http://www.techierevive.com
See the threads on page speed. Follow Radu’s recommendations for how he got the demo theme to be 90+.
REF: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ .
To save you having to read Everything on the forum:
Fonts can’t be optimized on your side or by the theme, as they live on Google’s website. Digg buttons are loading from Digg’s website. No way to optimize that. I don’t think sharedaddy is part of theme. You either have to load the font stuff locally and optimize CSS since Google “dings” their own stuff in PageSpeed (!) or switch to web-safe fonts (see my and other comments above on this topic).
For styles, you need to either minify if you don’t intend to modify for your site; or use a WP minify plugin. See my link to the site I use to minify my css and js code.
WP by default loads elements in the head and “enqueues” them to render the page. All WP sites will have a “render blocking code” in head error. For javascript (.js files) You would need to try the optimization plugin included with theme, or a WP plugin which moves the js to footer “elegantly.”
Hope that helped. 87 is a great starting point and that means you’re in the “zone of safety” as I like to call it. 85 or below is “bad” 87-89 is okay. 90+ is rockin’. 😉

Hello,
To delete the demo content, just delete from posts there are some post created by demo.
To edit the menu items, edit the menu from Appearance -> Menus
Here is the documentation, you can read here some useful steps: http://import.tagdiv.com/newspaper/doc/
Thanks for the message!
hi Guys,
I would like to set up an authors page as in http://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/full_screen_preview/5489609 . I have created a new page then I dragged a author list widget into the right column, but how do I get the detail for each author show in the left hand column as in the demo page above,
Thanks for any advice Martin
So I already had the Newspaper Theme set with categories along the Header, and about 8 pieces of content. I finally loaded the demo home page because I wasn’t able to to find how to set the home page up with the large carousel.
Is there any way to remove all of that demo info, so that I can get my categories back and build that home page without all of the demo content? Or, in the least, move my categories/ menu 1 over to the new home page ?
Thanks …
Hello Marius,
1) Same problem on your live demo! I don’t see, the mobile version of theme, but I see the site as on my screenshot.
No, I didn’t try to see the site from other smartphone, I can try with my friends.
2) Regard to change the color of links on topmenu, can you suggest me how do?
Thanks!
Hello,
You have followed the steps from here?: https://forum.tagdiv.com/asynchronous-google-adsense-responsive-ad/
I’ve tested on our demo site and work ok.
Thanks!
