Hey, so I am currently trying to optimize the speed of my page and tried to do everything from here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ and here: https://www.infophilic.com/get-almost-100-pagespeed-newspaper-theme/

I added the multi purpose style css to the ts-speed-booster.php. It currently looks like this:
function css_mover() {
//if ($this->td_theme_name == 'Newspaper') { }
// wp 011 - Newspaper 6

$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('bbp-default-bbpress'); //bbpress old
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('bbp-default'); // bbpress
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('contact-form-7');
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('td-plugin-multi-purpose');

But Google Pagespeed still tells me that I have blocking CSS resources: td-multi-purpose/style.css?ver=4.9.6

hi, I recently updated my website with your theme and I noticed a slowdown in performance. The site continues to load as if there were some background process that fails to load. On the homepage, for example in the slider images just below the featured images, the first img load and the rest remains empty or it load after 3 min.

Can you tell me what’s wrong with the site? The plugins installed are those suggested by you plus 2 extra (which do not affect the upload because trying to disable it does not change anything).

I could not install WP Super Cache because it says “not supported”. And the only warning I see in system status is this Speed Booster v4.9.3 – Disabled – incompatible plugin detected: akismet / akismet.php
I also have the jetpack plugin (by default) and disabled lazy load and other stuff.
Also Regenerated Thumbnails.

Tried to follow your guide for a faster website but I can not understand much …

Hello trailblazer,

Please notice that the speed of your website depends on how well your site is optimized. Notice that is not a simple task and if you do not have any experience in this regard you will do not bring good results for the theme. Also, notice that we have a speed optimization tutorial but this is addressed only to advanced users. So, if you follow the steps which are presented in this tutorial here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ you can increase the page speed loading and if you are not aware of the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because the speed optimization services are not covered by our support policy, as you can read here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/support-policy-2/ Check our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ regarding on dedicated server to fit our requirements.

Unfortunately, our theme does not have such an option to minify the style.css file and we cannot recommend any plugins with this functionality because is not tested with our theme. For minifying this file, we are using CloudFlare for our demo and works fine. Hello alecaus,

Check if the Speed Booster is enabled in System Status. It can be disabled if you are using some untested plugins which are not tested with it. Otherwise, please check the following topic from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/security-and-backup-always-incompatible-with-speed-booster/

I followed this guide:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/

In the part that asks to put a function in “functions.php” to get all the .css and .js files of WordPress, for me only a few, not all, appear.

I say this because, I need to change to the footer, the theme style.css and the style.css of the Demo. This is causing render lock.

Speed Booster is on.

Hi,

The featured image can be bigger, for example the live theme demos use in some cases much bigger image sizes
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/
This will however not have an impact, these original images will not be loaded in their full size on the website. Only thumbnails created from them will be shown
https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
Of course images can be further optimized. If you do not set featured images the modules in block and grids will display a default placeholder thumb. Of course your hosting plan has be ready for increased content and traffic
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/

Suggestions for website speed are many, in this forum and also online

Hi,

The initial color of the elements will be replaced by the color you set. For example the header style you are using has an initial color by default, this one
https://www.screencast.com/t/fZy8NTTnaD
Then the theme accent color applies on the header replacing the default color
https://www.screencast.com/t/p7keikKtk
Then the color you set as menu background applies (this is similar to the one before however)
https://www.screencast.com/t/dDeIGRxBWUp
So these colors will apply one at a time, cycling through each starting from the first to the last.

Same for the block titles which seem to also flash a bit
https://www.screencast.com/t/6gbXFl6HhsH2
This transition would not be visible when the website is loaded faster.

You could remove or replace the initial colors of these elements from the theme stylesheet, with the one you want
Block titles – https://www.screencast.com/t/eYH2Qi9kpg1
Header – https://www.screencast.com/t/K11jSLjA43

Thanks

Yes it will, like this for example using the category unique ID
https://www.screencast.com/t/YpFjvLdXj8VH
You can use the name as well, to recognize the categories faster

Hi Simion

I just changed my hosting from Bluehost to Google Cloud, that’s the reason why it’s way faster 😉
Mixed content etc. should be solved?
I guess you checked while I was updating.

Kind regards

Hi,

For me your website loads quite quickly, homepage in about 2 seconds and posts in just under 3 seconds.
From what I can see there are some timeouts on some resources that are trying to load
https://www.screencast.com/t/JYmeNiIOzI
Those seem to be related to a plugin
https://www.screencast.com/t/HerqPcvvHbS
Also there a a few mixed content warnings related to some images. All of these could potentially slow down the website. Try to fix them and check again.

Also consider using caching if you do not already, we recommend the WP super cache if possible. There are also many speed optimization guides here in the forum

https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/

Good day.

The problem is not from the caching plugin. I believe caching plugins don’t work on WordPress dashboard. Caching plugins help our web pages load faster but it does not make items on the dashboard load faster.

I had this same issue while using an older version (Newspaper 8.1). It stopped when I upgraded to a newer version.

Maybe you should update your theme if you have not.

Or you could delete the theme completely via Cpanel and re-install.

These are my suggestions. Hope it helps

Hi,

There is a plugin included in the theme package that will help with render blocking issues. However it will not work when it detects plugins that are not part of a predefined list. This check that it does could be deactivated
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tinymce-advanced-and-other-various-disabling-speed-boster/
Then the plugin will try to move all the blocking resources it can to the footer of the page. Removing this check could cause issues for other plugins that may not function correctly after this. This will have to be tested by you.
Or you could try other render blocking or optimization plugins and make tests.

Thanks

How do I fix this issue? I would like to make my website faster. I’m using Newspaper, current versions of both WordPress and the theme with no custom modifications.

Hi,

The custom CSS from the theme panel will be loaded after the theme stylesheet. You can also add custom CSS in a child theme stylesheet if you have one, or directly in the main theme stylesheet file.
If you add it in the main theme you will probably have to re-add it after a theme update, but this will ensure that the code is loaded faster, along with the theme style.

Thanks

Hello,

Page speed must be improved constantly if you want to have the site load fast. You have to make a few adjustments on your host in order to have good loading speed. Please follow google’s instructions here: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?hl=en&url=https%3A%2F%2Fcrypto-prince.com%2F&tab=desktop
And use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/

Hello,

Your site is not accessible from our end: https://www.screencast.com/t/XPmzZGkk30n
As for the css issue, This is usually caused by css optimization and cdn, as well as too many rewrites to the css code. Also a low page speed will also cause this effect to be more visible. Please check your host and cdn server and remove any css optimization.
Also. please make sure you use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
as well as: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/

Thank you!
