Hi guys!
I really don’t understand why my website is so slow… 🙁
My speed booster is active, My site looks so light, I barely install plugins, theres only one adsense banner… I just use TagDiv’s plugins…
I’ve checked your instructions at link: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ ( But no sucess ), my site remains very slow when I check it on Google’s Speed Page.
If you guys can help, I’ll be very grateful.
Best Regards
Following here:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
Have moved lots of CSS to footer in td-speed-booster.php
Examples:
/**
* here we move the css
*/
function css_mover() {
if ($this->td_theme_name == 'Newspaper') {
// wp 011 - Newspaper 6
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('google_font_open_sans');
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('google_font_roboto');
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('bbp-default-bbpress'); //bbpress old
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('bbp-default'); // bbpress
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('contact-form-7'); // end of initial list, rest custom
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('gd-captcha-style');
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('geodir-core-scss');
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('font-awesome');
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('geodir-event-frontend-style');
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('location_manager_css');
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('social-widget');
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('woocommerce-layout');
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('woocommerce-general');
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue('td-theme');
But Google is still listing all these resources under the Page Speed error (Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content).
I’ve cleared the cache and checked several times. Nothing. What am I doing wrong?
When you say to add something to a functions file, where exactly does it get added?
For example: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
How and exactly where would I add this? I am not good with PHP so I don’t understand the tags. Also, somewhere I saw something about taking Contact Form 7 off every page by adding code – where was that? What would that look like here?
add_filter( ‘jpeg_quality’, create_function(”, ‘return 50;’ ) );
Here is the end of my functions.php
<div class="td-skin-scroll"><i class="td-icon-read-down"></i></div>
</div>
</div>
<div class="clearfix"></div>
<div class="td-set-hide-show"></div>
<div class="td-screen-demo" data-width-preview="380"></div>
<div class="td-screen-demo-extend"></div>
</div>
<?php
}
}

Hi,
I recommend to use the Visual Composer version provided and tested with the theme. Newspaper 7.3 package contains and it was tested with Visual Composer 4.12 – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Speed Booster is an optional plugin and it can be used to move the css and js resources to the footer, you can check the pagespeed optimization guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
Thanks!

Hi,
Well, yes that site menu loads faster than our demo, but that does not mean it takes 2 seconds to load as you mentioned above. If your site loads slower than our demo, then there is a problem on your end that needs addressing, if not, then this is the way our theme works.
Thank you!
Hi,
You can try to cut things down based on your own preference. We cannot cut things down ourselves from our own theme. All of the css is needed in order to use all of the features of the theme. If you are able to figure out what you use and need and are able to discard the rest, then good job! It’s your choice what you customize on your own copy of the theme.
For better page speed you can also take a look at this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/search/faster/
Thank you!
I just don’t want to load down my site with bloated stuff that isn’t needed.
I also found a big chunk of Buddypress CSS – why is that there?
I’ve removed some of the things I don’t think I need and that has taken the 876K down to 691K. (I estimate I can get it down another 100K.
The minified complete style.css is 648K and the cutdown minified css is 489k
Before, My story pages were loading in 8+ seconds. Now they are loading in 4 seconds.
That is better, but I want them to be faster. That is why I want to remove anything that doesn’t need to be there. I haven’t tried it with the cutdown CSS yet.
I’ve also tried most of the things suggested by Chris, including preventing Visual Composer loading in stories (posts).
After this, I will work on shrinking VC for the front page.
Then, I will try using Varnish and nginx rather than Apache.
Hi,
You can follow our official page speed guide here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
Thank you!
Hi,
The theme is not slow at all. Please test our demo with google page speed: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/
Page speed is very personal depending on the hosting that you use, the optimization you have in place and the content that you have on your site. Please follow this guide to increase your loading speed: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
Thank you!
Hi
I’ve tried to access a post shared on your Facebook page and it worked fine on my side. Please make sure that you’re using one of these browsers to access the posts: http://screencast.com/t/f9alrjHa If you use an untested browser it may cause issues with page’s load.
Also check your site’s optimization. The page load is very big, takes up to 11s until the entire page is loaded http://screencast.com/t/osTWtwx5rRb and also page’s size is quite big. In terms of optimization we made a guide which covers most important aspects that must be considered: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
Thanks!
Hi
First we would like to thank you for your kind words, we really appreciate your feedback.
1. Mobile theme was intent to display a very simple version of each page, that’s why there is no support for shortcodes. Unfortunately there is no way to keep the mobile theme active only for posts, sorry. It is simpler to leave it inactive if you want a more complex homepage and hide the sidebars from posts using css. The code will be this one:
@media(max-width: 768px){
.td-main-sidebar {
display: none!important;
}
}
2. This happens because the code from theme panel applies after the one from style.css. When the page loads the browser call the style.css then the custom code generated by the theme. To avoid that delay you can insert any custom css directly in style.css file, like this will be applied faster: http://screencast.com/t/DGiO8j434 You can also remove the code which generate the unwanted icons from td_module_single.php: http://screencast.com/t/7WQFRQpQ0 – http://screencast.com/t/irISkSPT
3. Indeed is not recommended to add google ads in smart sidebar but unfortunately current implementation won’t allow content above smart sidebar, sorry.
Thanks!
Hello aseainme,
Unfortunately, the W3Total Cache plugin is not tested with our theme and we cannot say for sure that this one will work as properly with our theme. This type of plugin is too complex and it proved to be a quite problematic theme and that’s why we do not recommend using this because the theme can be damaged. Our caching plugin which we recommend is WP Super Cache. This is fully tested with our theme and this works like a charm with our products.

Hello sjlabar,
Please keep in mind that other than cropping system we do not optimize the images. Our theme uses the thumbs to crop the images for achieving a better speed. Also, please notice that we have an optimization tutorial, named How to make your website faster and there you will find a method on how you can optime your images using the code if you want to do this. -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
If is not what you mean, please provide more details about this, so I will be able to provide a more accurate response.

Hi,
Unfortunately images are the last to load in every case. This is the way WP works. The mobiule theme loads images faster as it was optimized for improved loading speeds. You cannot load images first. Page speed influences how fast the images load so if you want to get better loading speeds, you will have to use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
Please also read this topic to learn about speedbooster’s compatibility: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tinymce-advanced-and-other-various-disabling-speed-boster/
Thank you!
Hi,
We provide some solutionsto optimize the images on the pagespeed tutorial – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ that you could try.
Thanks!
Hello,
I’ve been testing both the responsive theme and the mobile theme from the plugin and can say that the mobile theme via plugin is faster than without it. Therefore, I will keep the plugin activated.
Only problem however, while viewing my site from a desktop, (mostly via Chrome) sometimes the mobile theme appears instead of the designated desktop theme. I wonder if this is just me or is this normal?
Furthermore, can something be done so that the mobile theme will only appear for mobile devices and not desktops?
Thank you!
Hi,
Adsense seems to work fine on your site: http://screencast.com/t/BmE6tZpVOEOK
AS for the page speed, please use this guide to increase it: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/. Page speed is a very personal thing starting from the host that you use all the way down to your content. Unfortunately we cannot do it for you as we are not authorized to do so. We can only guide you in the right direction.
For the leverage browser caching we recommend using wp super cache and read this topic to see how to set it up: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/plugin-wp-super-cache-leverage-browser-caching-1
Thank you!
Alright, actually doing this my self is faster than searching for the solution which is a bit strange.
I have worked out how to hide the title, just like before I placed it in the custom CSS under the Newspaper theme control panel. This is what I put in there,.sticky .entry-title {display: none;}.
So all I can see now is the text I am putting on the actual page. My next step is to find the code that will display the titles and date, of the latest 5 or so articles, one line break after the other. As well as working out how I will do the editors picks in a similar way. (I want that code sitting on the sticky page)

Hi
Try to use gzip compression to reduce the transfer time and file’s size; https://gtmetrix.com/enable-gzip-compression.html
Also please make sure that your server meets the requirements indicated in our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-requirements-for-newsmag/ and also check if the parameters from system status have the values indicated in our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/ you can also optimize the site following our page-speed guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/ Consider using a cache plugin and a cdn service for a better response time: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/ https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/ and to optimze the queries made to database take a look at mysql query cache: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.7/en/query-cache.html
Hope this helps.
Thanks!
