Hi Calin,
Thanks for getting back to me and I’m using the ‘Style 2’ footer:
1) If you look at my widgets section, there is nothing there for the ‘Popular Posts’ – https://www.screencast.com/t/s93EDvYgIHQ
2) If I try and install the footer cloud templates instead, none of the offered styles match the Newspaper theme I have installed.
Thanks again.
Hi,
That depend of the footer style that you are using, if this is a predefined one, then you’ll need to change on a empty footer and set the elements in Appearance> Widgets
-> https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/ for example if you have the style 2 you’ll need to use the style 3 and add the blocks you need from Widgets -> http://prntscr.com/oh9tce
Hope this will help you!
Thank you!
Hi,
1)You can use a bit of CSS code for that. Use the code below and place it in Theme panel -> Cusotm CSS area.
.td-header-container{
border: 3px solid green;
}
The result is here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/Mg8hXDjeEI
3)I suppose that you are using the Footer Template Style 1 which is default footer section which comes with some default blocks. If you want to have more control over that section you will need to use another Footer Template, like 2 or 6 which allows you to add any widget you want from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/Q2fi9hZBU7t -> https://www.screencast.com/t/3yiUQsCT Check the documentation from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-footer-templates-2/
Thank you!
Hi,
Thank you very much for your appreciation. I will try to help with the issues you are having.
In the homepage I see there are lots of mixed content issues, I believe you are in the process of installing the SSL certificate so that should solve itself when it is finished.
The wordpress recent posts widget doesn’t show an image as far as I know. It displays the post title and the date if enabled – http://prntscr.com/oh5ona
You could however use a theme block instead of that widget, and call it recent posts. Sort it by latest so that it shows the freshest posts – http://prntscr.com/oh4olg
– http://prntscr.com/oh4ooy
In the footer currently I see that a footer page is set. The theme provides predefined footer templates but it can also display a footer page in the footer location
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/
If you want to customize the footer page, there is an option in the theme panel
– http://prntscr.com/oh5qo4
Note that some demos when installed will load a custom stylesheet, containing various CSS customization. The journal demo will set a background color for the website
– https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_journal/
This will override the theme panel background color it seems, I will make a note of it and we will find a different solution for this demo customization. For the time being you could remove the background color from the demo here – http://prntscr.com/oh5z27 Then the theme panel color will apply. Sorry for this inconvenience.
Please let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks
I tested any custom footer from Cloud Templates and any footer looking correct on the main page but incorrect on other like 1 column
Hello !
Please make sure that you are uploading your logo at full size in the media as you can see here: https://www.screencast.com/t/wMItdaYR This should do the trick.
Yes, you can have another logo on your footer only if you have a cloud library footer or cloud library header or both. Those can be edited using the tagDiv Composer and you can add one logo into the footer and another logo into the header.
Find out more about it here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/
I hope this was helpfull !
Thank you !
Hi,
We are very sorry for this inconvenience, it was a decision made at the time in order to comply to the Envato specifications. Now we will improve the child theme support.
Please note that the theme update is in it’s final testing phase, when this is over it will be released. Should be this week, or early next week.
So it will be possible to customize the single templates in a child theme after this update, also header templates, footer templates, category templates etc. Hopefully you will then be able to achieve what is required for the website.
Please let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks
Hi,
If you want to change your footer layout, please check the Footer Templates from our documentation from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-footer-templates-2/ As a hint, you can try using the Footer Template 5 which allows you to add any content you want inside the columns, using the Widgets from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/GaC7D9hPA6
Thank you!
Hello !
Unfortunately you cannot do any changes on that footer information. You can either change the footer style from Theme Panel – Footer or you can add a footer template from the cloud library and then edit it. Find out more about the footer templates here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/
I hope this was helpfull !
Thank you !
Spicifically, I meant, for the homepage, I couldn’t change default newspaper demo’s row stretch of the top post grid, while the lower rows I’m able to change. However at the very end, above footer, I couldn’t select or change the latest articles grid.
Other than the homepage, I’d also like to change post and category templates width without changing to other templates, because I’m happy with the everything else, all I need is just to change the width.
Thanks!
Hi,
1)If you want to reduce the font size for your main menu items, please note that you can d this from the Theme panel -> Theme Fonts -> Font Settings, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/K9gjAG5ufy3
2)If you want to have more access to this section, you will need to use the Footer Template Style 5 which has three empty columns where you can add as elements you want. For more details, please check the documentation from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-footer-templates-2/
3)So, if you want to have more control over the category pages, please note that you can do that from the Theme panel -> Categories -> Category global settings and Per category settings. -> https://www.screencast.com/t/t4UiwhlQ9us Please check the documentation from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-category-templates/
Thank you!
Hello !
In order to move the Newsletter element into the footer you will need to have a Cloud template footer wich can also be edited using the tagdiv Composer. Find out more about it here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/
After you have set up your footer template you will be able to drag the newsletter into the footer.
Thank you !
Hello !
In order to delete you will have to change the footer style located in Theme Panel – Footer: https://www.screencast.com/t/VsahmAsk Unfortunately those 3 columns cannot be edited. If you want to have columns that can be edited you will have to create a cloud template footer: https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/ and edit them using the tagDiv Composer !
Thank you !
Hi,
This was my mistake, sorry, is look like the answer that I provide to you, was for another user how ask for popular 7 days, sorry for the inconvenience!
The footer style 2 is a predefined one, as footer style 1, 4 -> https://www.screencast.com/t/RU8I1A0aHZ8h in those templates you can not edit/filter/sort the blocks/elements; if you want to do this, you’ll need to set the blocks/elements that you want to sort/filter in a different footer style, in this case those that appear in footer style 2, can be set manually in footer style 9, those 2 templates have the same structure -> https://www.screencast.com/t/JvfZNCONuXV or you can use the style 3, where the logo and footer text is already set by default -> https://www.screencast.com/t/vk6iXvV6Og ; let’s say that I chose the footer style 3, after that go in Appearance/widgets and look for the popular category to add it in footer 3 -> https://www.screencast.com/t/faqmfKoyNaj -> https://www.screencast.com/t/witEQUOvH9h this is set bydefault to show the popular categories -> https://www.screencast.com/t/YTEKpaQl2 , also add the [tagDiv] Block 7 in footer 2 -> https://www.screencast.com/t/lQikoz3zlD for this block you can use the Filter tab to sort the results -> https://www.screencast.com/t/3TbbVd7eJOoc you can find the filter/sort documentation in this link -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/
If is not what you mean, or if you have other questions, just let me know!
Thank you!
I thought a child theme is active – https://www.digitalbusiness.africa/wp-content/themes/Newspaper-child/style.css?ver=9.7.3
I could be wrong however, since the post templates seem to be applying properly.
Did you try the footer page suggestions that I mentioned above? I see that the footer page is still not changing per language. It should be possible with the polylang string translation, I didn’t make tests with this plugin unfortunately.
Do you maybe use a child theme? There is an issue currently, the post templates don’t apply correctly when the child theme is active. We will fix this issue in the coming theme update. For the time being it would be best to keep it deactivated if possible.
I see the problem with the footer. It should be like this, if the initial language is French set the French page version in the footer. Then translate the footer page field with the plugin’s string translation (should be an equivalent in polylang similar to WPML)
The string that has to be translated (the one that contains the ID of the page used as footer page) is called “tds_footer_page”. When translating it for English enter the ID of the English page – http://prntscr.com/odxo12 so when the language is changed the footer page will chnage as well.
With WPML it works fine, but I haven’t tried it with polylang.
Hi,
What you set in the theme panel will apply regardless of language. The theme panel settings are not per language if that is what you mean.
You can create pages in both languages, when the language is changed the page will change.
In case of the footer page, and using WPML for example, the footer page field containing the ID can be translated like so – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/translation-of-footer-pager-does-not-work/
I should note that cloud templates can’t be applied per language at the moment. let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks
Hello Team,
We are facing some problems.
Our main web site is in french : http://www.digitalbusiness.africa
We’ve created an english version of the web site : http://www.digitalbusiness.africa/en
We’ve then Create an english footer with TD Composer.
Also a Category Page and a Single Post Page in english with Cloud Templates.
Every thing was fine.
But the problem appear when we go to Newspaper 9/Post settings, Newspaper9/Template Settings or Newspaper 9/Footer. There, when we choose the right cloud template in english or the right footer in english an then register, it automaticaly change both versions : footer and Page sample + Page Category, they all change. When we go and change to put the initial settings, both versions french and english display the same footer or the same single post template. Please can you help ? Thanks in advance !
Hello !
Please read the documentation. You cannot simply modify that part of your footer. You will have to create a whole new footer using the tagDiv Composer and cloud library templates.
You create the footer and you can add whatever element you want in it: https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/
I hope I was more clear.
Thank you !
Hi,
First I recommend you to check documentation, in this way when you’ll star will start to work on your website will be more easy.
-> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-documentation/
-> https://tagdiv.com/category/documentation/
You’ll see that you do not need to create everything from scratch, you can use demos, header/footer/post/category templates.
From what I can see you want to have a full width footer and header, this can be achieve from theme panel -> https://www.screencast.com/t/6x3KZbaxEG2 also you want a top bar with menu -> https://www.screencast.com/t/lPuHjLxNvbcl
Thank you!
Hi,
You can set the ads using the theme panel ads -> https://www.screencast.com/t/yTUAIBQ6Tfs and you can set an ad in footer top section ( is closer to what you need to achieve ) or you can use a single post template from tagDiv Cloud Library, edit it using tagDiv Composer and set an ad box where you want to have that ad -> https://www.screencast.com/t/Z6ItOfvH -> https://www.screencast.com/t/7ZJ7oAO2c
Thank you!
Hi,
If you want to remove the ads from a certain post you can us a single post template from tagDiv Cloud Library and do not set any ads in that template, after that set the template on the post you do not want to have ads.
The ads on pages can be set using tagDiv Composer and set ad box where you want to have ads ( but in this can you need to check the ads from header and footer ).
Thank you!
Hello !
The tagDiv Composer can apply only on elements that are from the theme. The homepage for example can be fully customized using the tagDiv Composer. For standard Header / Footer you will have to go into Theme Panel – Header / Footer and edit there. If you want custom header / footer you will have to add them from the Cloud Library: https://tagdiv.com/what-is-the-cloud-library/
Post pages can be edited only if you use Single Post Template. Make sure that you applied the template sitewide from here: https://tagdiv.com/what-is-the-cloud-library/ Find out more about it here: https://tagdiv.com/customize-articles-with-single-post-templates/
If you face any issues let me know. Eventually add a link to your page and what the issue is so we can inspect it even further.
Thank you !
Hi,

OK, I realize this is surely a complete noob question — but after spending about half an hour messing with templates (including cloud), I realized I could not figure out this challenge:
How to create a landing page with no header, no menu, no footer. Just an image, some text, and a link to the home page of the site (or to anywhere).
I tried the blank template, but it still had a header and menu. I looked at the blank header as well, but I wasn’t sure how to take out the menu or connect all the pieces.
So, anyone want to jump in and tell me what I’m sure is a simple process?
