Hello,
I had this error last year and I don’t recall what you did to fix it. I updated the social plugin via FTP after it stopped updating for Facebook. When I reinstalled and used the tutorial for FB (App ID, Key, etc…) I got the error message below.
I left the social counter on my home page alone and the problem only occurs on pages/posts. It was the same way last year when it happened. Identical error.
Thank you,
Jared
Hello,
Please switch to the default theme (select the newspaper theme not the child theme) and see if the problem is still there. If it is, please try to do a fresh install via ftp: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
If the child theme was not updated it could cause issues as some parts of the code were changed in the current version of the theme. The child theme should be updated as well.
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!
Hello Bogdan,
Thank you for your response with this. I imported these posts from our current live website using a different WordPress theme. The youtube videos on all of these posts work fine. However, when I copy and paste the youtube link into the featured video widget in the admin tool, the videos do not show up. Here is an example page of where this is occurring on: http://48b.e14.myftpupload.com/2015/11/groom-surprises-bride-by-leaving-his-wheelchair-for-their-first-wedding-dance/.
I did try disabling all of the plugins and clearing the cache per your recommendation but with no success.
Part of why I chose this theme was because of the featured video functionality and the ability for it to create automatic thumbnails based on the video link. I really want to keep this theme but in the last theme we had to create screen captures of the video, upload them to media and make them the featured image. These added steps take up way too much time and wish we could get this to work.
Adria
Hello abccom,
Please make you sure that you follow all the update steps correctly via FTP, like in this tutorial: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/ . Also, please try to disable all the active plugins, except Visual Composer and install only the plugins that come bundle with our theme, clear all your caches and try it again. If your problem is still there, please let us know.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for the message!
Hello,
Unfortunately it means something went wrong. It should say 6.6.1. Please verify you copied the correct version of the theme and check for the extra options 6.6.1 has (like for example filter posts by id in block settings.)
Please follow this tutorial on how to install your theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Thank you!
Hello,
Unfortunately this is no laughing matter. Switching from version 2 to version 6 will be exactly like switching to a different theme. The way I would go about it is delete the old theme and install the latest version of newspaper via ftp: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Unfortunately you will have to clear your schedule and allow a bit of time for your website as most settings and customization will not work in the current version. Old widgets and settings will be lost. You will most likely need to recreate parts of your website. Please check our current documentation as you will find useful info in there on how to use the current theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/wordpress-information/
Best of luck!
Hi,
Ive just updated yout Newsmag theme to version 2.3.2 via FTP but I noticed that all of my ads have gone. I cant see them though everything looks fine in the panel. Why is that?
Thanks,
Jerzy
Hello,
I’m not sure why you are getting this error but you can try a few things to see if it works.
Please deactivate all plugins except visual composer, clear your cache (very important. clearing cache fixed this sort of issue for other users) and purge cdn files if you use it.
If the problem is still there you can check theme panel and reset the thumbnail setting. Disable thumbnails and enable them again from the theme panel.
You can also check your system status to see if all parameters are set according to this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
If all else fails, you can try to do a clean install of the theme. The best way to do it is via ftp: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you.
Good Morning, I am just checking in as I have not heard for over a week. I am hoping you can still address my issue as the site is still broken and I need your help. emails were sent with login and password, ftp etc.
thank you.
This is the question I have.
If I update my theme (through any method – wordpress, ftp, or envato), will I lose any of my previous settings? Particularly the sidebars, widgets, ad codes, typography, and all sorts of things?
Thanks,
Sheikh
Perhaps
a) try updating theme via FTP vs through panel
b) install new clean copy of JetPack after fully deleting current JetPack folder
c) make sure site works before activating JetPack again
Not sure that helps, but that’s how I’d proceed.
Also note the 6.6.1 update only updated a single plugin, not whole theme, so if already at 6.6., be sure to check the changelog in the Newspaper-tf folder before doing updates.

Hello,
Thank you for the prompt response, the video in question is:http://48b.e14.myftpupload.com/2015/11/groom-surprises-bride-by-leaving-his-wheelchair-for-their-first-wedding-dance/ among others.
I tried doing the same thing on other posts with youtube and received the same error message.
Thank you for your help in advance,
Adria
@amrinder, which problem are you referring to? the Visual composer one or the migration from another theme?
For both issues, there are answers posted above.
I assume you are referring to the visual composer plugin. Please try to remove your VC files/folder via ftp after deleting it from wp-admim as sometimes files remain behind and prevent the installation of the new version.
Thank you!
Thanks,
We’ve already done a fresh install via ftp on Dec 1, and it made no difference 🙁
Any other clues?
Hello,
Unfortunately i could not recreate the issue. The code from your files does not cause the error. I could not find any errors so the issue most likely comes from some place else. Please try to check all your modifications if you have them anywhere else to see if there are no open tags. If everything else fails, you will need to do a fresh install of your theme. The ftp way is the best choice. Do a back-up of your modified files and use this method to install the theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Thank you!
Hi
It seems like that…
I just updated only the plugin folder social counter via ftp
…rather it does not seem there are still improvements to counter facebook worsening dramatically PageSpeed from 90 to 74
Any news on this?
Thanks
You can upload via FTP; create a directory like /assets/ in your root directory.
Put files in there. Might be able to do this via your hosting filemanager panel if you don’t want to do FTP.
Then simply create a normal anchor link with HTML. Lots of tutorials online on how to learn basic HTML.
SO, for example:
<a href="http://yoursite.vvv/assets/name-of-file.pdf">Download my Fancy PDF</a>

I’ve tried to update directly using the FTP. I still get this error:
wp booster error:
Please update your [tagDiv social counter] Plugin!
My media library still wont show anything. Not sure what to do from here.
Likely plugin not compatible.
Best to disable it, then you should be able to login.
If you cannot login to your admin panel,
you will need to go via FTP, or your host panel,
and change the /wp-content/plugins directory to something
like x-plugins temporarily.
This is how you reset all plugins to off. You should then at least be able to login.
Then you can remove the bad plugin from that folder.
Then rename it back to ‘plugins’
Hi,

Hello zookii,
The theme use the default WordPress registration that’s why appeared this issue after WordPress update and the function is deprecated. Please add change this code – http://screencast.com/t/5oHnnt3nsQkj with this – http://pastebin.com/tp9t4yRp .
Also, you can make an update to new version because in our new update this problem has been solved.
First of all, please backup the whole current theme installation as well as the database and wp install: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups
After this, you can use the ftp method from theme’s update guide to upload theme’s files and remove the previous theme files before uploading the most recent ones then test this again and let us know how it goes. You can find a video tutorial on how to do this in theme’s update guide here: http://screencast.com/t/jNFnYQ0ONo – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for message!
Hello,
@jermyn7, please access your files via FTP and delete the visual composer files manually as sometimes deleting them from the dashboard will not be enough and a folder will remain behind.

Hi,
@rayarasmussen If you follow the steps provided in the documentation regarding Envato Toolkit should work without any issues. Also if you want to update the theme via ftp or wordpress please make a full backup of your current installation and database. Please note that all the theme files will be overwritten so if you have some custom modifications to the code you will have to re-add them, the panel settings(theme and wordpress – or posts) should not be affected.
@George Please check the update guide for Envato Toolkit or the others 2 methods.
Thanks!
