Quick question as I am new to the theme and everything that comes with it.
I want to get my homepage the same as can be found here: https://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/homepage-clean/
So with the big image on the left, double header menu with the “news ticker” below the main menu and small images on the right. Followed by the “regular” posts below there.
What is the best way of going about this? Could not find my way to the correct page through the available documentation.

Another good discussion on this topic, including a lengthy warning from WP Engine Hosting, is including in the thread titled Security Risk.

One user of the Newspaper theme received the following message:

At WP Engine we take security very seriously and make every effort to keep our customers aware of any potential issues. We are reaching out to you today because we identified your site(s) are utilizing the “Newspaper” premium theme.

We have been notified by Sucuri about a recent increase in exploits that specifically target outdated versions of this theme. They operate by injecting unwanted ads into the page’s links, directing visitors away from the intended site. You can read more about the specifics of the exploit here:

https://blog.sucuri.net/2017/06/unwanted-shorte-st-ads-in-unpatched-newspaper-theme.html

Due to the potential severity of this exploit, we strongly recommend that everyone using a version older than 6.7.2 update to the latest version. You can update this through the wp-admin dashboard, but if you have a customized version of the theme, you may want to consult with your developer to ensure your site does not encounter issues when updating. Please make sure to run a backup of your database first; which you can learn how to do here in an article: http://wpengine.com/support/restore/ or here in an interactive walkthrough: https://my.wpengine.com/dashboard/?walkthrough_id=2278

If your site does appear to be displaying the symptoms, the fix is quite easy to remove the exploited code. You will need to remove that code from the Newspaper theme panel’s “header ad” block in WordPress admin interface under Newspaper > Theme panel > ADS > YOUR HEADER AD. You can also replace it with your original ad code, and your site should return to normal. Be sure to update the theme in conjunction with making this change, as it will prevent any further compromises.

Hi,

I was using old version of newspaper theme (Around 1 year old)

yesterday someone injected Malware in Header Ads code – traffictrade.life/scripts.js/

I tried removing it but it was again getting inserted. Then I uninstalled old theme and installed new version

Now that Malware is not appearing but I want to know whether newer version is malware safe or not? Is there any known bugs related to old version that says Malware can be injected in Newspaper theme?

Same thing is happening with my website. I was using previous version of Newspaper (around 1 year old version)

Can anyone tell me if newer version is fine and will not get any Malware?

Someone was injecting this script in header traffictrade.life/scripts.js

Can anyone confirm if this was because of using old version of newspaper theme? New version is secured ?

I should have mentioned. You need to go to Theme Panel, then Ads, then Header Ad. There will be a section called Your Header Ad. The hacker will have installed the code in this box. You delete the code, and the problem with stop. However, the code will eventually reappear, and then you have to remove it again.

For those of us on very customized older versions and can’t really upgrade without a lot of work, does anyone know what files/code to modify in order to patch this vulnerability. We don’t even use the ads function so I removed the code that displays them from the template, however that does not stop the code from getting injected in the header ads field in the DB. TIA.

We are having an issue where the Newspaper theme keeps getting hacked and the hacker is inserting code in the “Your Header Ad” section so that popups occur.

Hi,

It could be possible with some custom CSS code. If you could provide a link to your website, I will try to give you a more accurate solution. A code like this one might be what you want, you can try it in the meantime

.sf-menu > .current-menu-item a,
.td-header-wrap .td-header-menu-wrap .sf-menu > li > a:hover {
color: white!important;
}

Enter the code in Theme panel->Custom CSS section and see if it does what you wanted.

Thanks

Hi,

If you use Adsense ads simply enter the code in the theme panel
https://forum.tagdiv.com/header-ads-adsense/
If the code is responsive (does not have fixed with and height) then it will automatically resize to fit in every situation. More about responsive ads here
https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/3213689?hl=en

Thanks

Hi,

That is a simple image inserted in the Header ad section, like this example
https://www.screencast.com/t/W3vkJT58
The image is wrapped inside a code that displays it on all devices
https://www.screencast.com/t/xEOTUvonX
But you can for example set different ads based on device
https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-other-ads-non-adsense-ads/

Thanks

Hi,

You will have to make the same modifications that you made in the header menu, in this file as well
https://www.screencast.com/t/CDAfWBrvT
Try something like this

Hello opeedo,

What is your website URL and also, provide some useful screenshots where you should explain what you want to get. First of all, you should check all of our header styles and check them because if you want another style which is not there, you will need to do some custom work and notice that we cannot provide something like this at the moment, sorry!

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello harmario,

Sorry for my bad understanding! Try to use the code below and you will have the both menu hide on the desktop and mobile devices, without the logo.

The code is ->

@media(min-width:767px){
.td-header-main-menu{
display:none!important;
}
}
.td-icon-mobile{
display:none!important;
}

Hope this helps!

Thanks.

For Header Style 8, it states that for best results use these logo sizes:

Logo Upload: 238 x 86px
Retina Logo Upload: 476 x 172px

But what is the ideal resolution for these?

Hi Catalin!

I was testing the last codes and is not what I looking for.

I will try to explain me better.

.td-header-main-menu{
display:none!important;
}

This one yout give before works fine on desktop cause I see the logo but on mobile hide all the header (menu, logo and search icon) and I´m looking for something that hide both the menu on mobile and desktop but not the logo (the search icon I really dont mind now).

Thank you for being patient ;D

1. Okay, thanks!
2. I mean the little bar underneath the custom block headers. Like here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/21fi38n20vrhnk3/Menue.png?dl=0

Thank you for your time!

Hi,

I believe that is simply block 2 on one column, displayed on mobile
http://prntscr.com/g3t705
Here you can see how each of the blocks look in different layouts (use selection on the right to change blocks)
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-2/
And these are the available block header templates
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-header-4/
More information about the tagDiv composer here

Thanks

Thanks, I will implement the shortcode by editing the template. Will Newspaper test the matched content in the future as it is very important?

Also, the css code provided above to make the header ad center doesn’t work on mobile, how to fix this?

.td-header-style-5 .td-header-sp-recs {
width: 728px;
margin-left: auto;
margin-right: auto;
float: none;
}
