It should work in IE as I’m using IE right now, and I can go to the Google site and the fonts work.

So, likely you need to load them from your style.css file vs using the theme panel. Meaning get the CSS from the above link I provided, from the CSS link, grab the CSS, and put at bottom of your style.css file; edit the style.css file to change the headline or whatever to the font you want, then edit the functions file to remove calls to google fonts from there.

eg. the css file you need to copy FROM:

Kind of advanced, but that’s how I’m loading Open Sans and it works 100% of the time because Google provides the correct font for the platform.

Ideally, the point I was making for Marius is that you should be calling the Google version of the font in the theme, and the theme should be calling that from Google. It has nothing to do with “web safe” fonts, where the specific font would not be installed on a Windows PC.

Not sure that helps. But since you use that as your corporate ID font, it might be simpler to make the custom fix to ensure it always works, as I do with Open Sans.

I do find the copyright one works on mobile and tablet (at least, mine does).

One way to disable the widgets, although it’s just lazily hiding it, is this:

1. Install https://wordpress.org/plugins/zigwidgetclass/

2. Give all the widgets in the footers you don’t want a class like hide_on_mobile

3. Go to Theme Panel -> Custom CSS and create a class like this:

@media (max-width: 1018px) {
  .hide_on_mobile {
    display: none !important;
  }
}

@media (min-width: 1019px) {
  .hide_on_mobile {
    display: initial !important;
  }
}

Note that you may have to use a different number of px to pick out the exact screen sizes you want. If I remember right, the other breaks used in the theme are 1200, 768, and 480.

I am using the childtheme. Would it be there any different if I was using the mothertheme?
I don’t know what CDN is and I just installed cache plugin. Could you pleas guide me how to refresh the prowser using cache plugin?

Check the entire site for internal links and ensure they are all using HTTPS if you specific your own domain name in links, so you are not causing your own redirects.
Update your <meta property=”og:url” to using the https version of your domain.
If you use <base href= again update to use HTTPS.
Install SPDY protocol if possible
Make sure to use CSS Image sprites where possible, to reduce numbers of request.
Update your sitemaps to indicate https status, so spiders over time learn this change.
Change Search Engine preferences like Google Webmaster Tools to prefer HTTPS
Where possible off-load any stactic media to HTTPS CDN servers.

Once you have ssl cert installed, you would likely add a rewrite rule to your htaccess file to gracefully direct old http links to https version. Talk to your hosting provider about activating mod spdy once you have https … And remember to test and update sitemap to ensure links point to https in sitemap, etc.

Sorry i think the name “newspaperpatch” caused a missunderstanding, I actually called the whole Newspaper Theme folder “Newspaperpatch” for me to remeber this is the pached theme…

I patched the theme manually (replaced all files) before the first time I installed it on wordpress

Just now the error occurred again: After 2 minutes of loading i get this message:
“An internal server error occurred. Please try again later.”

any other ideas? tough one to figure out i guess :/

Oh man! I’m really sorry about what option 1 did!! It might have been possible to undo that 🙁 I should probably give up trying to offer support after an oversight like that… Out of curiosity, what were the WordPress address and site address filled in with, and where is the WordPress install located in your website files?

Yeah, either Chris’s or my edit to the php line would work but Chris’s is easier to parse later if you change your URL one day. :p

Hi, mod_spdy is setup on the server; https is setup on your domain (Google “get SSL cert for my website”) or visit the SSL certificates section in your GoDaddy account if you use them for anything. You need to get SSL cert which is installed for your domain, this then allows your site pages to load via https (secure) vs http just like any ecom site or Amazon, GoDaddy, eBay, etc. The “signed” certificate provides some level of security in that a “signing authority” has verified you are who you say you are before issuing the certificate (your hosting provider may even sell SSL certs at discount; check their site).

Mod_spdy doesn’t do SEO or speed up normal http pages, only those loaded via https (secure). Hence “spdy” (short for “speedy”).

So:
1) get SSL cert for your site; this allows pages and content to load https vs http
2) check with your hosting provider on mod_spdy support which speeds up https so it’s not 10x slower than http

SSL and mod_spdy have nothing to so with the theme. SSL authenticates the website domain, not the content itself per se, although you would get a “warning” if some content is not loaded securely, like an external file not being loaded via SSL.

Ssl is implemented at you hosting co., you need ssl cert for your domain, then you load pages via https vs http. Were lucky we have our own server with it installed… Right now testing hookup with mod pagspeed weve been running since dec. typing on ipad, pardon punctuation.

i also installed w3 total cache, but i uninstalled it again and activate the tagdiv speed booster, it was the same blank white (but the data was loading, i can see the page source)

I don’t know the version because when this happened I just installed the latest version of Rev Slider 4.6 replacing the old one. My Newspaper theme is 3.5 BUT I remember when I did the latest theme update I didn’t install the themes again…. so it’s probably an old version…

Yeah, basically some new features, house cleaning; a lot of wp configuration tools under the hood; but not the big “security panic” updates of some of the recent dot revisions. But always check the codex to see changes, since if there is a notable security fix you SHOULD update to remain secure.

“activating” a plugin means turning it from off to “on” (e.g., “activating” it so it will work).

Any news on a fix for this?

I’ve just installed the latest version of the theme but it doesn’t seem to be working still. The Jetpack top posts & pages widget works and pulls the most popular content in, is there anyway you could modify that and add it to the page builder?
