Hi, it’s possible that installing demos my custom created sidebars has lost? There isn’t a folder to recover those sidebars? How update the theme or install a demo without lose data?
Having issues. Not my first rodeo with Newspaper. I did not upgrade from v4 of Newspaper to v6.1 – fresh database.
Uploaded Newspaper, Newspaper Child, activated Newspaper Child then VC and TD Social Counter – in that order. I’m getting the VC Menu link for its settings in the admin menu and when creating a page the builder does not show any Newspaper blocks at all. VC is showing me the demo homepage templates loaded into it by Newspaper, but when I use them, the blocks are not editable, only sortable.
Front-end of the site is loading fine. Even uses the blocks from the theme when I use a template to get it rolling, but I can’t edit the settings for it, obviously. Even tried installing and activating the API plugin to see if it would help, but no go.
This is for my main site. I’ve been testing for a few days on my development site, which is located at a subdomain of my main site, and everything has been working BEAUTIFULLY there with Newspaper 6. Really impressed with the improvements. Can’t figure out what’s making VC dumb at the moment.
What’s the malfunction?

Hi Alin, thanks for getting back to me.
I’ve tried both methods of trying to create the sidebar and neither is working for me.
I went to Template Settings > Blog and posts Template and in the sidebar dropdown box I created a Custom Sidebar,previously I had it set on defaut. The demo categories are not listed on mine because I haven’t installed the demo.
I then went to Appearance > Widgets.
I clicked on the Custom Side box I created and added widgets including Tag Cloud and Calendar. However nothing appears on the sidebars in post pages.
I then went to Appearance > Widgets clicked on Block 1 and added it to my Custom Sidebar and tried to customise it and add widgets but still it doesn’t appear on post pages.
I also tried the custom sidebar method but still nothing. Your instructions are what I had originally tried to do.
By no means am I an experienced web developer, but for the past few years I have been installing and setting up WordPress themes just by following the instructions. I’m so frustrated as I have spent many hours on this and can’t resolve it!
Please help me get the sidebar working.
I know this theme has a lot of greatness about it, and the demo looks ace, so perhaps this theme is wasted on me – my question is .. where to start?
On the demo, I only really wanted the theme to look like the Homepage – Blog part –
Am I best to start with installing the content from the demo, then working back by deleting all posts?
I attempted to make a new page, and called it home, I clicked on ” Templates ” and selected the ” Homepage – Blog ” and it said it’s added – but im not sure exactly what it’s done, or if that’s right, so didn’t click publish, Im worried im going to mess up the theme! :-\

Mainly we bought this theme for the optimization and loading speed.
But after installing the result is very poor, PageSpeed shows 63/100 in mobiles, very different than what shows its demo 95/100.
Install the “demo data” and don’t show the images properly.
We are very disappointed with the purchase, any solution? or I can request a refund?

My web designer and I are installing the theme on my website. We have some problems with the pictures. It looks great on your demo, but not so great on our website. We assume you can advise us on recomendable picture sizes? We cannot find this. Thank you so much!

In the theme we included a smaller version of the demo which comes with all page templates and the basic setup for starting a site. We didn’t included the whole demo because we wanted to keep the theme as small as possible. The xml was not included in the theme package because wordpress importer is buggy and it doesn’t save the entire data (sidebar, block settings, footer widgets, etc have to be configured manually).
On our demo’s menu are added only some categories that are set to megamenu and pages with submenu items: http://screencast.com/t/7sffQJtdul You can make your menu that you need by adding your pages and categories like in the screenshot. Did you had any errors when you installed the demo? What do you mean with no completed?
Please note that installing the demo will not look exactly like our live demo: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/ You will have only some categories,posts, pages like an example, you can create your own categories… and more items to the menu.
Also if you installed the plugins that come with the theme’s files you need to activate Visual Composer as the theme need this plugin to work: http://screencast.com/t/bPyeMpp2qtV

Hello All,
First of all, thank you for a great product.
The thing is, I am installing the Theme Demo, however while performing the, “one click demo install,” the loading progress bar comes to half way point and then it doesn’t move any further (more than 30 minutes).
I am testing the theme in a local XAMPP environment. I also did a fresh install to make sure there wasn’t anything I missed but I am following the documentation step by step the way its been provided on the support page.
Not sure what is causing the issue here. Any assistance would be greatly help.

It is not complete setting when I was installing the demo date .
If I push the install button stop during loading.
Only I can see “Loading the demo…

These were not my images. I just imported the demo content after installing the theme and boom there was a grey background.
What I want is the transparent background as in the demo.

@ERP Please note that when you load the stacks the content or the page layout doesn’t change. This option will just import color settings, font settings..

To import a “stack” go to bottom of the main theme panel page, and then go to the import styles, then choose the style you want like “sports.”
Don’t import demo content. Just import the style — this basically loads the custom CSS styles to over-ride the standard CSS for the theme. And you can switch or go back if you don’t like how it looks. 🙂

Ok, so maybe it’s just that the demo posts don’t work well with being edited? Because I created a brand new post and decided to use that same 1024×576 image, inserted it the same way and set it to be tagdiv fullwidth and in modal and it works! http://afro.freshmedleydesigns.com/?p=155
I’ll continue to do more test posts and see what happens. But I’m wondering, if on my live site, for posts I already wrote way prior to installing the theme, would that weird issue occur if I go edit old posts and want to set images to fullwidth? (I’ll test some as well and see and let you all know).

I have recently installed the newspaper theme and I have a problem creating pages. Every time I create a page is blank if you viewed Preview when editing. If you want to eventually access it once published, also appears blank. Even when installing the demo theme the server stayed locked and I had to delete all created pages. Creating post don’t appears to have the same problem.
Anyone know what could the problem be?

You need to setup your home page the way you want, as found in the theme documentation here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-the-demo-data/
You don’t need to install the demo content; simply choose to “import a pre-defined” style at bottom of the theme admin panel such as “sports” or “fashion.”
Or, go to create a new “page” and then choose a layout style as found here:
