I’m using the plugin WP Retina 2x with the javascript mode of displaying retina images.
It seems like this is possibly causing a problem with the theme. Soemtimes on mobile, the retina image will simply turn into a grayed-out box after scrolling down the page and scrolling back up to the featured image.
Is there a better way to have retina images in the Newspaper theme? Thanks!
It’s in themeforest’s queue 🙂

Hello,
We will release V3 with a new ads system friday(4 days) if you want to wait.
Thanks!
Thanks, but somehow it doesn’t seem to work for me. When I use responsive ads they show up fine on the top, but my sidebar ads and the ads under my articles disappear. But when I use a normal top ad, then they reappear again. Do you know what could be the problem?
Thanks!
Hello,
See here: http://import.tagdiv.com/newspaper/doc/ads.html
Thanks!
Thanks for the quick response 🙂 But what do you mean with “Google adsense and add on phones”? Also is there any documentation that explain exactly how to set up responsive ads? I am a bit confused with the options Ads and Google Adsense under theme options.
Cheers!
Hello,
You can make this from CSS. There are 2 logos, one in menu, and one above the menu that is with display:none(hidden)
Hidde the logo from menu and display the logo above the menu(with display:block)
For ad, go to Theme option -> Google adsense and add on phones.
To do the CSS for the logo inspect your site using Firefox or Chrome inspector.
Thanks for the message!
When I look at my website I see the logo is placed on the right side, but is it also possible to display a full width logo on mobile devices? Also, is it possible to display a mobile banner under the logo instead of above it?
Thanks in advance 🙂
Hello,
Is not possible, we can make changes only in css, sorry for the inconvenience! If you want, you can try from CSS to move the title above the image, but I’m not sure is possible easily.
Thanks for understanding!
Have a nice day!
Thank you for your reply. I did get a change, but not the one I was hoping for. My main goal is to get module 9 to look like module 7 (@ 767 px) when viewed on small viewports, with the title being listed first, the post date and tags underneath the title, then the picture underneath the post date, and the excerpt underneath the picture.
Is it possible to switch from module 9 to module 7 when that 767px max-width gets hit?
Thank you for replying!

Hello,
Try this css, add it in style.css
@media (max-width: 767px) {
.td_mod9 .item-details {
margin-left: 0px !important;
}
.td_mod9 .thumb-wrap .entry-thumb {
max-height: none !important;
max-width: 100% !important;
height: auto;
width: auto;
position: relative;
margin-bottom: 15px;
}
}
Thanks for the message!
Hello, I am having problems getting my images in module 9 to change locations when viewed on small viewports. As of now, when viewed on a small screen the image is very small (50px x 36px) and to the left of the text. I want to change the location of the image to underneath the ‘item-details’ div when viewed on small viewports. How are these changes implemented?
Great theme and thanks in advance!
Hi! I wonder if its possible to reduce the space between elements in te theme. See the link provided where I have marked the space I want to reduce with red spots.
The same goes for the mobile version – to much space between everything.
And THANKS for a wonderful theme. I am confident it will be superb when I am finished tweaking 😉
Hi, I’ve sent an email with this subject

Please do check. I’ll send the wp-admin credentials after a reply.

Please send via email at contact@tagdiv.com
Also you can give us access to WP to take a look?

Hello,
I did some searching before posting this and I found no useful answer.
PROBLEM:
Menu is not working on mobile.
WHAT I DID:
Tried it on 3 smartphones and by resizing the desktop Chrome to mobile size.
I tried disabling ALL plugins but it still don’t work.
Please tell me where I can send a link to my site.
OH:
in case anybody is curious about my misadventures in
JANUARY TWEAK FEST
– tagdiv speed booster to enqueue stuff
– google font calls removed from functions.php; style.css mod to change default fonts to:
font-family:Segoe,"Segoe UI","DejaVu Sans","Trebuchet MS",Verdana,sans-serif
– mod_pagespeed corefilters on, layz load images off until page load
– manual mod_pagespeed “switch on” via htaccess to test impact
– optimizations in htaccess (remove “collisions” for typical mod-deflate call, taken care of by mod_pagespeed)
– optimizations in wp-config.php
– optimizations in functions.php
using GTNetrix for the testing right now

GTMETRIX ENGINE SCORE with my “0.03 settings” I’m up to tonight
98/PS and 82/YSLOW
Page load time: 2.30s
Total page size: 1.02MB
Total number of requests: 53
I AM NOT USING ANY WP CACHING PLUGIN, NOT USING ANY MINIFICATION PLUGIN; beyond mod_pagespeed and server side functions for these tests.
With the main Google PageSpeed Insights page,
score is: 89/100 desktop and 77/100 mobile
Oddly for current Google main speed testing, turning ads off completely along with turning author box off to remove gravatar pull, also didn’t actually increase initial rank. Nor did turning off the addthis button. More testing underway!
A page without youtube video, with addthis on, google advert off, author box on for live gravatar ( http://ga-ga.com/492/growing-older-in-a-youth-oriented-society/ ) ; pagespeed 91/100 desktop and big jump for mobile to 83/100. YouTube really is a suck for the PS rank.
Thanks Christopher. I took a look at mod_pagespeed, but it doesnt look like it could do anything for me at this point. I’m already on a VPS that runs Plesk 11 with nginx as a reverse proxy. I’m letting nginx handle all php scripts and serve static and dynamic content. Gzip compression is enabled and i enabled browser caching through nginx with the expiration set to two weeks. I’m running WP Super Cache as well to create pre cached pages and i use EWWWW Image Optimizer to optimize all images. I also optimazed all theme and plugin images with that plugin. You might want to look it up, imo it really is a better plugin than smush.it and so. I use the simple minify plugin to minify all javascripts and i my pagespeed currently toggles between 85 en 92 for desktop, depending on my server response time and between 70 and 80 for mobile. The only red warning i still get is to defer javascript and css (moste google fonts, and 3 theme css files: bootstrap, style.css and child theme style.css) to below the fold, but i have no experience on how to do that. Im really pleased with the pagespeed right now, but more tips (besides using a CDN) are welcome!
Thanks for you responce anyway 🙂
Hello,
I see that you have an old theme version. We optimized the touch for mobiles, please update to latest version 2.3
Thanks for the message!
Hey guys,
Love the newspaper theme.
We have implemented it on our site http://www.theminerissue.com.au
During user testing I noticed that the scroll function on mobile version does not work very well in the android native browser. It seems to work for every other browser using android galaxy note and also on iphone 3GS and 4. Any ideas why the problem only exists on the native browser?
Any help from tagDiv or the community would be great
Cheers
Editor@TMI
I read this interesting topic and decided to do a check myself.
I use wp smushit, wp minify and total cache (page cache as per tagdiv’s instruction)
Google Pagespeed: 88/100 (desktop) and 73/100 (mobile)
GTMetrix: 93 Pagespeed, 76 Yslow.
Historically I always received a much lower grade with Yslow. Guess they don’t like my site 🙂
Now I will experiment with Christopher’s tip with the .htcaccess.
And one tip to others: don’t get obsessed with getting high grades… I’ve been there a couple of months ago… for 2 days I slept at 4 AM trying to figure it out :/ It became an obsession. Spend your time in the nice things of your website 🙂
Hello,
Please give us access to your WP and we will take a look. Send via email at contact@tagdiv.com
Please put in mail a link to this conversation.
Thanks!
After today update, logo disappear on mobile version…
