I just spoke to host (Godaddy) they said it’s not an issue with .
They recommend I optimize the database tables via php my admin, which includes compressing the tables as it may be a “resource issue” Would this work? I don’t want to waste time doing this since they had led me down the wrong path before.
Will using this tool help with optimizing the database tables or are these recommendations only to speed up the site?

P.S I solved This one “Also, I would like the posts to be preloaded and don’t load at the time I choose another category tab.” I chose Optimized Preload at “Ajax dropdown – content preloading”.

The website is very optimized and it loads very fast. Ajax issues usually come from excessive usage of features that use ajax, like block pagination, ajax block filtering etc. But it does not seem to be the case here.

I had to uninstall the black version theme because it’s pages were taking too long to load. I decided I would try to duplicate it instead. However, I came across this problem in which I can not change the default body background color to #1a1a1a from white. I tried changing the background color in General Theme Colors, but only the sides of the body changed with the row remaining white. I also realized that the Black Version had a class called td-black that is responsible for it #1a1a1a background color. So I try this code:

from the forum to see what would happen and nothing happened. My question is how can I duplicate the body background color of the black version theme on to my site? or even better how can the black version theme be optimized so that is doesn’t take so long to load?

Notice that the speed booster is an optional plugin which can be activated in the same way as you install a new plugin.
The Speed Booster works only with the tested plugins. If you use other plugins, it will be automatically disabled, and I suggest to check this first in System Status. It does not.
However, WordPress has ‘mini caching’ (transients).
If clearing your cache plugin not fully working, try
a) clear transients with wp-optimize
b) resave permalinks
c) in Chrome, use the force refresh/reload option

I believe you are referring to the flash of the website on loading. That visibility of this flash depends on how well the website is optimized. If it takes a long time to load the effect is more visible.
The styles will load in cascade one after the other, until the last one. If you have custom code used to customize the website, enter it directly in the theme stylesheet. If you want to customize a demo, try doing it directly in the demo stylesheet

I’ve been running speed tests on pages of my website and am getting results that are all over the place. Do most people using Newspaper theme also have a CDN like Cloudflare? I can’t tell if I should be happy with the results I’m getting on speed tests, or if I really should add a CDN. I’m getting lots of A’s on the tests, but also some F’s… Also, I’m careful to optimize my photos for the Web using Photoshop and Optim, but I always get messages that they could be optimized more. Don’t know how… Someone told me today I should add a plugin for Gzip compression.

I have been having some issue with errors on another plugin I use called Optimizepress. To eliminate plugin conflicts I went through the usual process of elimination by deactivating plugins and activating again.
When I activate Slider Revolution this message appears at the top of the plugins section:
The plugin generated 211 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.
What does this mean and what do I need to do to correct it?

Use Yoast SEO to optimize your homepage! 🙂
For the ‘page’ you create to set as home page, at bottom will be settings from Yoast SEO to set stuff for that page.
Also, you can add a h1 description of your site in a simple text box on home page, either at bottom in a new row, or in sidebar.

Google doesn’t like ‘resized with CSS’ images as the browser has to do the work, which is considered slow for mobile vs an optimized “serve images at actual size” methodology.
One trick is to change the 3 image sizes made by WordPress, separate from the theme to be your 3 most use sizes. Also consider cutting couple of modules.
Or, you could turn sizes off, and thumbs won’t be made, and will be resized in some instances (larger to small, but smaller to large will not fill boxes).
Try it; but then also check your Pagespeed Insights from Google for “make images right size…” warning.
If your server does mod_pagespeed, you can have it build temp cache images on the fly, including conversion to webp format. Again, something you’d need to test.
(I don’t work here; but we went through this. We ended up limiting “total number of sizes to 6” to keep thumb explosion down.)
ALSO: be sure to change the default compression for thumbs in your wp-config.php, as most small thumbs don’t need to be razor sharp, and so compression level of 50 works for most stuff!
OK, I understand that redirecting the woocommerce 404 to a normal wordpress page is not a good practice (as there will be wrong header and this will result in negative SEO), as well as creating unnecessary server request. I hope you will give the most optimized solution.

Couple suggestions
a) make sure running php 5.6 and up with opcache on
b) limit number of queries per page; meaning don’t “turn everything on…” — you might want to only have a max of two ‘modules’ on sidebar, turn off the related posts widget and use simpler plugin, do NOT use the mega menu with images/posts, don’t use ‘7 days most popular’ option, don’t use the fly out related ‘you might like…’
Every one of those blocks is a dbase set of queries, so if you have 50 queries per page, cutting that down to 20 speeds everything up.
Also, if you’re getting ‘pounded’ with local search, you might consider installing the Google search option for site search instead to not use your own dbase for content searches — some spiders/bots can whack your processes by searching your entire site links for content vs looking at sitemap only.
You can also optimize your wp-config.php file by putting in direct explicit URLs for your site, and plugins folder, content folder, so that system doesn’t need to ‘look those up’ for every path.
It all adds up!

Versions of WordPress prior to 4.7.5 are insecure and ideally should *not* be used. Also a number of things have changed with 4.8, and so most modern themes/plugins are optimized for both
* php 5.6 or higher (5.2/5.3 not recommended; 5.4 end of life)
* WordPress 4.7.5 and higher (secure version)
No current themes/plugins may fully work with old versions of WP, due to all the security fixed done to WP and to themes/plugins over the past 18 months.
Any suggestions/tutorials on how to optimize the theme for mobile, like having less things to load (blocks, small picture sizes, any other elements)? Thanks!

I was just wondering what the recommendations are for the theme to make sure it is loading as fast as possible. According to Google’s PageSpeed Insights my website scores pretty low. Mobile averages around 50-55 and desktop is around 60-65. I’ve tried testing no preloading, optimized preloading and preload all on the mega menu preloader but it hasn’t done much with the scores.
Is there another way to optimize the blocks that I am currently using?

Of course you would need to re-generate your old thumbs to compress them.
Trick is making sure the images you upload in first place are optimized as best as you can, using Photoshop, GIMP, or similar.
