All requirements are fine…

Now it works again. I think the problem was on server side. But why the mobile theme was running well? Also if we switched to another theme everything was ok.

Only the Newspaper7 Desktops Theme did not work…

You don’t need any license key for Visual Composer, the plugin comes bundled with the theme and can be used under theme’s license.

Try also to update the theme at V 7.3 which is available on themeforest then update Visual Composer plugin at V 4.12, this version is included in theme’s path.

OK so I have ensured all of the newspaper requirements and system status parameters are correct for the site.

I have two sites with the same issue and use the same theme (Newspaper). So I marked site1 as fixed and within 7 days the Server Error 500 returned.

I changed to theme on site2 from Newspaper to TwentyFifteen and marked as fixed, to date the error hasn’t returned and it has now been 3 weeks. So by elimination we can assume that it is the child theme (Newspaper) that is causing the issue.

Both sites also have identical plugins enabled.

Can you advise on how to proceed further.

I think this has to be the best WordPress theme out there and am keen to purchase more, BUT I believe this server error is causing a major issue with my rankings with Google.

This is not an isolated case as I believe the Enfold theme has the same issue, see thread here:

Am intrebat daca e compatibila cu php 5.5, tu ma trimiti la lista de requirements in care scrie ca ar fi.
Restul e cancan, folosesc tema de mai bine de un an, deci a doua recomandare e inutila.
E greu de spus daca e sau nu compatibila si de la ce ar putea fi eroarea aia ?
Ne scutim amandoi de timp pierdut si texte scrise aiurea.

I’ve tried your suggestions. I also confirmed that the server requirements are met. In addition, I switched to the main theme (instead of the child one) leaving the theme with its default style.

As my website struggles to stay online using caching, I downloaded it to my development server (no external visits) for more testing and I noticed strange behavior regarding images. I deleted my homepage latest post images only from the filesystem which (as excepted) results in many 404 errors. Then my development server had high CPU usage. I switched to my previous theme and the load is gone. I tried the same experiment when navigating to Admin > Media. When Newspaper was active, I had high CPU load while my browser was trying fetching the deleted files. When switching back to my previous theme, the load was gone and the Media screen loaded instantly. It seems very strange. Browser directly hits Apache requesting static files which normally is the same regardless of the theme used. How this different behavior could be possible when switching themes?

We do not recommend the usage of php 7 with our theme as it is not tested with it and there is a chance to appear some incompatibilities and conflicts. From our reports the theme works fine on servers with php 7 but however we can’t guarantee that. 1. What exactly do you want to change in mobile menu? The settings for colors can be found in theme panel > theme colors: http://screencast.com/t/LIPUyEomQQ
Please provide some exact detail about the desired result so I can inspect it closer and get back to you with a more accurate answer.

2. The functionality of search buttons is the same, the only difference is in layout. However the response time may be influenced by how well your site is optimized and how fast queries are made.

3. We always include in theme’s path last version of Visual Composer available when the update is released. You can’t directly download Visual Composer from themeforest unless you bought it. Currently we test V 4.12 and after everything is ready a new update will be released.

4. I’ve checked your site and you’re using the default thumb for block 6: http://screencast.com/t/jPzMgHEOkcn if you want tu use a higher value for the thumb make sure that after the code is modified you regenerate the thumbnails.
