I also see in tins of examples on the official demo site that there are fullwidth images in posts that aren’t fullwidth but grid like this http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/the-evolution-of-design-and-technology-review/
How do I accomplish that given my errors as explained above?
I’ve already did that since Newspaper. 🙂 And its not for my webesite, its something more natural for review snippets, that the product name has its own tag and dont use the title of the post.
Second on that, also the chance the phrase “review overview” for the name of the product.
You (tagDiv team) should have to change the phrase “Review Overview” for the name of the product (inserted in the editor), that would make a lot more of sense.

I have not yet tested/debugged this personally as waiting for the dot revision to theme to coincide with WordPress 4.1 update, and VC update. Once all that in sync, hopefully for Saturday, I’ll take a stab at debugging my own install by starting with only VC and theme running and all other shenanigans turned off, then go from there.
In case anybody following this somewhat important topic for those of us doing reviews 🙂
Not a problem, that sounds fair enough. But now I want to know, if I am already using that plugin then and wanted to turn off the built in review system with the theme, how would I do it? Or should I just leave it as it is?
Hey guys, I like that this theme comes with a review template, so convenient. I’m wondering, if there are plans to add other features, like a pros/cons area or photos?
I have this plugin already: Reviewer Plugin but I see on the page it says it can be integrated into themes, maybe you guys could consider that, it’s a great plugin and works really nicely and gives loads of options for those of us who write frequent reviews. Here’s an example using that plugin on my site: Hubalou Review and also Mane Choice Review (both reviews are near bottom of post) and as you can see, it’s definitely fully compatible with NewsMag
Hello!
I recently installed the newspaper theme and I noticed that you can’t (via the administrator) add the author’s name to the post tittle (as in, who wrote the post/article/review). You can add the author box inside a post, but it’s not what I’m looking for.
Is there a way to do it?
Hi,
I try to explain the my necessity:
I will display the social button after the post in a category page.
For example:
If I stay in category page, the preview article are displayed.
I need to display the social button (<?php if(function_exists(‘social_ring_show’)){ social_ring_show();} ?>) after each post in the category page.
I hope I was clear.
Thanks
for the featured image, they are all the same size and show attached to the post, is this normal? Is it generating a new featured image every time I preview the post when editing?
I have a problem about to add the social button in category template.
Must be enter the following code:
<?php if(function_exists(‘social_ring_show’)){ social_ring_show();} ?>
The system should display the social button for each article list (after little description preview) in the category page.
The same modify must be applied for the page template.
Where I can paste this code?
Thanks in advance
Hi,
I can’t seem to get the block (2) to behave responsively, regardless of how I have the columns set. The posts simply continue down below, rather than appearing in two columns. This is the page I’m working on: http://aaron.tylercarbone.com/most-popular/
Ideally, I would like a setup similar to the “Don’t Miss” section here: http://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/full_screen_preview/5489609
What am I missing?
Yes, I am seeing the same issue, however note I am not YET running the latest version of theme; I do have the tagdiv speed booster plugin running, 3 adsense spots, and am running mod_pagespeed … however I can also confirm the rich snippets were verified working with Newspaper theme. I had not yet gotten to testing this element, frankly, with Newsmag. But, I can confirm I have the same issue as looking at a review page in Gogole SERPS does NOT show the rating. Oddly the rich testing tool is also saying my Google+ page is not a publisher, even though the sites are properly linked and the Google+ publisher page is correct; so there *is* some oddball thing there someplace.
(I suspect the Google+ publisher thing may be due to the phase out of the author element; however since the page is properly linked from the +NeotropeNet/posts G+ page in the meta source; not sure why that shows up.)
The only plugins I’m using are Yoast SEO, two image plugins for resizing, wp-optimize, auto hyperlinks/external links no-follow, and nothing I can see which would impact the snippets. However, I will revisit this once I update the theme to latest version. I was actually waiting to see if there was any dot-revision to the 1.3 iteration before I did that 🙂

Welll… seems I’m the only who posted my website here … hence why these topics never seem to go anywhere 🙂
@ricky86
I have not yet updated my theme to the latest version; I think it’s still 1.1, so likely my site isn’t best choice for checking snippets at the moment.
But you are correct, this page also doesn’t pass the validation, which it did with the Newspaper theme:

Chris
Hi,
I tested on the site of Christopher and it has the same problem, check it out here:
https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?q=http%3A%2F%2Fga-ga.com%2F1890%2Fbook-review-people-deserve-a-fighting-chance%2F
Hi Lucian,
I didn’t put my thought correct.
I do understand that these are filters, that make these extra URL. But I would like these elements to be closed from index so that they do not appear in the search, because the system that I use for site analysis says that the pages I mentioned above are duplications.
So once again. I would like to have on my site quite clear structure: categories and posts. All the rest:
( – ?filter_by=featured/
– ?filter_by=popular/
– ?filter_by=review_high/
– ?filter_by=random_posts/
– ?filter_by=popular7/)
I would like to exclude from search and use only as navigation. Could you please help with the issue?
One more question.
While analysing the page I faced the problem of html errors. In one post according to system there are 39 of them. http://pix.my/BhzYLetj
Most of them are the following:
Error Line 34, Column 216: Attribute itemprop not allowed on element meta at this point.
Error Line 549, Column 198: & did not start a character reference. (& probably should have been escaped as &.)
Warning Line 557, Column 545: The name attribute is obsolete. Consider putting an id attribute on the nearest container instead.
Error Line 593, Column 150: The frameborder attribute on the iframe element is obsolete. Use CSS instead.
I’m not a programmer and can’t estimate the importance of mistakes. Could you please kindly comment on the issues mentioned?
Sincerely,
Vladimir
Hi,
Could you please provide more details about the issue you have with duplicated content as I have checked your site and haven’t found any duplicated posts or something.. http://screencast.com/t/hOVuTbdtMm8k
This endings from the url structure appears when you switch between different category filters. This filter are only present on category pages.
– ?filter_by=featured/
– ?filter_by=popular/
– ?filter_by=review_high/
– ?filter_by=random_posts/
– ?filter_by=popular7/
It’s not an issue, you can also see this on our demo: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newsmag/category/tagdiv-fashion-week/?filter_by=random_posts
Please let me know!
Thanks
You’re welcome 🙂
I don’t work here (with all my replies this month, you might think I do…. been actually implementing our site with Newsmag, so popping in to see if any issues I NEED TO KNOW about … while also dealing with a bunch of hurry up and wait stuff, so bit of a time waster here vs poking friends on Facebook.)
Yeah on the bbPress idea, though. I tried it awhile back.
Ended up going with Disqus just because most of the sites I tend to visit had started to use it, with couple of exceptions. It’s got a decent level of trust, and it also cut down on 99% of the spam comments and junk traffic we were getting even with akismet running. Seriously, it made a huge difference on some of our news portals. Obviously we also turn off comments on things like a fiction book serial as not relevant. But with news or reviews, comments are useful sometimes for visitor interaction.
bbPress is great if you want to have a LOT of comment interaction in a kind of “forum” setup. Great for traffic and SEO unless you have to deal with the troll culture.
In any case, we just ended up going with Disqus as the best sort of “it works” solution; much like some sites we use AddThis for the same reason. It’s so well entrenched on so many sites, it works very well.

by tagDiv 2014 🙂 | http://tagdiv.com | Our portfolio
It’s inside the archive when you download it. They usually copy it to here and the Newsmag page on Themeforest, but here’s what it looks like:
[ V 1.3 ]
– improvement: added translation for EVEN MORE NEWS widget from footer
– improvement: added in Theme Panel -> Custom Typography: Footer text under logo
– improvement: added in Theme Panel -> Post settings: Show/Hide categories tags on single post page
– improvement: added in Theme Panel -> Custom Typography: Subtitle for post
– fix: slider height when the screen size is smaller then 320px
– fix: removed image captions that appears in post excerpt
– fix: reviews stars number display
– fix: added break-word for comments text
– fix: php notice when source or via have no url
– fix: sharing show/hide issue
– fix: twitter share strange characters in title
– fix: facebook like button show on https
– fix: load default style stack was not working
– fix: module 14 css bug
– fix: added module MX 4 to the excerpt panel
Not technically a bug …
it’s designed to be a visible menu for related items from the same topic; so if you had entertainment, and then sub categories like fashion, film, food. music … those would show there. When you only have main categories, it shows all of them.
Trick is to architect the site based on groupings of related categories, for example, here we have several sub categories of “music” and so only those related music categories show on the visible topics menu
http://ga-ga.com/cat/music/music-makers/
Or, for, in our case, we grouped all the book, fiction, stuff together under “reads” and now only those related topics show
http://ga-ga.com/cat/reads/book-reviews/
Probably a method to “disable” that might be good for those who ONLY use single top level categories. However, many large magazine sites do “group” related things together in order to make navigation easier. So, I think that was the idea here.
Thank you very much Lucian.
I have installed the “Search Everything” plugin which works pretty fine. The only disfunction I see is that when I search an author name, search module in the header returns “Pas de résultats” (means “no results”) automatically before I click search and get the proper results displayed in a page. Would there be a way to display nothing in this module when there’s no results? Or make the result preview also rely on “Search Everything” plugin?
Another question relative to the Search function. The results are always displayed on a page with the mention “If you’re not happy with the results, please do another search”. Where can I change/translate this sentence please?
Thanks a lot again!
Sam
Lucian,
I do change the URL structure from basic to the following: /%category%/%postname%.html Also with extra code a cut word ‘category’ from URL.
These are some of duplicated content that I can find in site examination:
http://showtopmodel.ru/istorii-uspeha/best?filter_by=popular
http://showtopmodel.ru/istorii-uspeha/best?filter_by=popular
7/
http://showtopmodel.ru/istorii-uspeha?filter_by=review_high/
All in all I got 14 of them.

okay peeps….
just to see if this matters to anybody, can those who were saying “I can’t see the icons, like the spyglass for search” etc., check this page:
http://ga-ga.com/1829/book-review-place-hide/
I have downloaded @handiso’s files, and replaced the 1.1 version theme files for the four font files.
specifically
newsmag.eot
newsmag.svg
newsmag.ttf
newsmag.woff
Biggest difference is that handiso’s version of the svg file is almost twice the size (e.g., 43kb vs 25kb).
So, if those who were having the “I can’t see any icons” issue — if you can *now* see the icons on the above page…. then handiso’s solution is the correct one.
I can see the icons on ALL browsers, across WinXP, Win7/64, OSX Mavericks, OSX Yosemite, iPad iOS7, iPhone iOS7, and the devs always see icons too, so there is some oddity someplace — possibly a file encoded as text vs binary, or some other oddity.
If you still cannot see the icons, then it’s likely a unqiue situation on your particular machine.
examples on post style 6
http://ga-ga.com/2193/mt-ashland-oregon-welcomes-major-snowstorm-after-first-snows-ceremony-to-end-drought/
and post style 4
http://ga-ga.com/1890/book-review-people-deserve-a-fighting-chance/
I would almost go so far as to “suggest” that some kind of shadow on the H1 tags for both of these templates might be a nice “default” even if set as 1px 1px 3px black .
