Hi

The theme code was tested and optimized for best performance, we have a lot of clients and the theme works well on a large variety of hosts.
First please make sure that you use the recommended server configuration for Newspaper theme, you can check our documentation for more details: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
There are lots of factors that influence the site’s page-sped. I suggest you first try this without any other plugins active, leave just VC plugin active the check again. To improve the loading speed look the mysql query cache: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/query-cache.html we also use it on our demo.
Also you can use the speed booster to move the js and css at the bottom of the page, eliminate render-blocking, but not for all plugins. Check the System Status if the speed booster is active if you use other plugins than the tested ones. You can find some useful information regrading speed booster usage in this topic: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/speed-booster-questions/
Also you can read this guide, it may help – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/

Hope this help.
Thanks!

Hello sid,

Note that the Speed Booster plugin disable itself when an incompatible plugin it’s installed. We added this measure to avoid conflicts with the plugins that won’t allow to move their CSS/js resources at page bottom. Check in System status if the plugin is active: http://screencast.com/t/slBN4kNf To keep it always activated comment or delete the indicated lines from td-speed-booster.php: http://screencast.com/t/RZLIOPUNdqh You can check this topic for more information about speed booster usage: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/speed-booster-questions/ Please ensure you have removed on have commented the correct snippet of the code.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Hello,
You will need to increase those parameters you pointed out. The system parameters should be green. Please follow this guide to increase these values: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Thank you!

Hello Miguel_Ramirez1,

Please try to disable all the active plugins, except Visual Composer, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. Another thing you can do is check if you have GD Library Installed. You can see it in your Cpanel. If not, contact your hosting provider. Also, please check your System Status to see if any parameters need to be adjusted: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/

Let us know if the problem is still there afterwards.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for the message

Hello,
I have tested the translation again and it works fine on our end so a bug is excluded. The problem originates from other places. It could be a plugin conflict so please disable all of them except visual composer and clear your cache. If the problem is still there, you can check your system status to see if any parameters need to be adjusted: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Let us know if the problem is still there afterwards.

Salutare,

O zi buna!

Hi Bogdan,

I have recreated the menu and it didn’t change a thing. During page loading, the menu is briefly displayed a few tenth of second, then its space becomes blank.

Besides, I currently don’t use a cache and I don’t have a plugin modifying the menu, if this is what you meant.

In the system status, max_execution_time is at 30, and I’m using a demo. I’ve red the guide, and there is no track of the mentioned lines in .httaccess. So I guess it’s in php.ini, but my host doesn’t give access to it. However, this value matter is a bit weird, because my host say it is at 300, not 30 as displayed on the theme system status. If you need more information about my host parameters, please have a look at:
http://fpm5.4-check.cluster011.ovh.net/phpinfo.php.

Any suggestion?

Thanks

Hello,

Thanks for the response.

I guess I do have a problem somewhere.

I will give you my site url but I haven’t uploaded it yet. After this response or so, I will upload it and give you access if we haven’t found the problem.

Quick rundown, I’m developing with the xampp stack (windows 10 pro). I have no additional php modules or anything installed. Only thing I’ve changed is the limits for max_upload.

WP is 4.4
PHP is 5.6.3 / Apache 2.4.10
NewsP theme is 6.6.3 – I don’t have a caching plugin installed yet so I have a yellow on your ‘system status’ screen.

I have no additional plugins installed, other then what came with WP and your theme (Akismet, Hello Dolly, Slider Rev., Visual Comp; the first two aren’t activated).

Any other place you think I could look?

After typing up to here, I realized I made a mistake in my email. One word.

If you notice in the last sentence of my post, I say border. I messed up when I said background earlier in the post. I can change the background color of the column/row the same as the picture you attached.

What I can’t do is make a border appear around the colored column/row. When I choose a border color and style, they return to the default white color and ‘theme defaults’ border style.

Sorry.

Hello,

I have tested the menu and added quite a bit of items to it but could not recreate this error nor do we have reports of it. Please try to recreate your menu from scratch and see if it appears again. If you use any plugins to your menu please disable them or rather all of them except visual composer and clear cache to rule out a plugin conflict. You can also try to check your system status and see if any parameters need to be increased: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/

Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!

Hello,
It seems your system status parameters are not set properly. Please follow this guide and set them: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
It could also be a plugin conflict. Please disable all of them except visual composer to rule out a plugin conflict and check again.
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!

Hi,

You can use only normal url for Background click ad, scripts or other codes will not work. Please check documentation – https://forum.tagdiv.com/background-ad/
There is a specific spot where you can paste the analytic – http://screencast.com/t/oLAY1AZVlk
If I understand well your theme panel settings are not saved after you remove the code from background ad click, so please check your System Status and increase those values to the recommended, see this tutorial – https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/ as max_input _vars small value could cause this issue with saving panel settings. If you don’t have access to php.ini file or htaccess please contact your host.
Let us know how it goes!

Hope this helps!

To improve your server response time you can try to reduce the number of queries (fewer plugins, fewer blocks on page, reduce the elements which use ajax requests/pagination like mega menus/load more/infinite load), also consider using a cache plugin, we recommend the WP super cache plugin with the following configuration: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
To improve the loading speed look the MySQL query cache: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.1/en/query-cache.html we also use it on our demo.

I installed a fresh copy of Newspapter 6.6.3.

In the System Status tab, it states:
Speed Booster v4.2 – Disabled – incompatible plugin detected: revslider/revslider.php
SpeedBooster detected an incompatible plugin, to avoid any possible errors the plugin automatically disabled itself. For more info about this please contact us via the forum – https://forum.tagdiv.com/

Please help.

Hi,

1. The logo can be changed from Theme Panel -> Header -> Logo – http://screencast.com/t/3YnCwLCYyyu
2. Not sure where those items (the “photography” “categories” and “travel” tabs) are located on your side, please provide more details or the site url. Also check if this doesn’t come from the max_input_vars parameter on your server, you can read more about it here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/

If you can’t figure what’s causing this please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com , include a link to this conversation and provide wp-admin access so we can take a look.

Thank you!

Hello snaxzer,

Please ensure that you have followed all the correct steps to increase the system status memory.

Edit your wp-config.php file and enter something like: define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’96M’);

WordPress memory can be different to the server – you need to set this regardless of server memory settings
http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php#Increasing_memory_allocated_to_PHP

If you have access to your PHP.ini file, change the line in PHP.ini -> If your line shows 32M try 64M: memory_limit = 64M; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (64MB)

If you don’t have access to PHP.ini try adding this to a .htaccess file: php_value memory_limit 64M

For more details about this, please consult our documentation here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/

If all of the above does not work fine, please talk with your host provider.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you for the message!

Hello,

Please try to reinstall the theme via ftp: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ and make sure you try it without other plugins. Disable all of them and then install visual composer. You can also check for hosting settings. Please use this guide to see if your settings are in order: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/

Thank you!

Hello,

Unfortunately we have no reports of this issue and we could not recreate it on our end. If you tried disabling all plugins except visual composer and the problem is still there, please check any custom modification you made to make sure all tags are closed so your code will not affect the functionality of the theme. If the code is OK or there is no custom code, then please install the theme again via ftp (install the latest version 6.6.3) as something might have gone wrong upon install.
You can also check your system status to see if all parameters are set properly: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/

Thank you!

Hello,
Please try it without any plugins first to rule out a plugin conflict (disable all of them and only leave VC active). Then you can check your system status to see if the parameters are set properly: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Let us know how it goes.
thanks.

Hello,

I just spent some money with Bluehost to “optimize” my site. It takes longer than it should to load pages and they have pointed a finger at the theme. Here are their comments:

Reduce server response time -> Your server response time is actually very low. The server only took 254ms to respond to the first request in the final scan included in your post service report. What they are actually looking at is the overall load time of the site, which is greater than 2 seconds. This in and of itself is not a major issue. There are many successful sites that can’t load in faster than 5 seconds. As explained in your report there are several design concerns that are preventing the site from loading in 2 to 3 seconds, and are causing the site to spike in load time up to 10 seconds. These include external requests that can take longer than normal to load and javascript requests that the browser can slow down on. Unfortunately the optimization service is not a design service. What this means is we can’t change the basic way that your site looks and feels from our end as part of the service. We try to compensate for these issues in the settings that we configure on the back end of your site, but some issues are going to need to be looked at by the designer/developer of the site.

Any ideas on what I can do to speed up the site loading?

Also, in the PHP memory allocation, I set to 128 megs before we did any of these tests. Still, the “system status” still says the allocation is at 40megs and should be increased. Seems like there’s a problem, here.

I really like the Newspaper Theme and so far it has been fairly easy to use. But making changes to the system status is WAY above my level of understanding and the guide does not help. How can someone like me get help?

I checked the system status parameters. Here are my results. It looks like they are off, but I looked at the parameters guide and have not idea what I am supposed to do with this.

Hi,
You should update visual composer to the latest version but i do not think it will affect the theme panel. Please try to download the theme again and install it via ftp. https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Then you need to check your system status parameters to see if they are set properly: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!
