Unfortunately, the latest version of Visual Composer is not yet tested with our theme and you can’t use it with our theme, at the moment, sorry! Notice that this plugin should have to be adjusted and verified before being released. Our developers work hard in this regard and we will release that version in our near future updates.

We it’s a matter of preference as I don’t think it will affect SEO either way but then again i’m no seo expert. The plugin is not a live count and is affected by cache. You probably did not clear the cache after setting it up and it took a bit longer for the fb count to update but now it shows fine: http://screencast.com/t/mkjGCE6li

the MySQL search/replace is this — change to your site URL, obviously, remember closing / or image links break, and if you changed the default wp table to something other than wp_posts (e.g., monkeyboy_posts) … you need to change obviosuly

1] After having updated theme to latest v7.5 , i installed ,activated the Mobile Theme plugin for the theme ..made the appropriate settings & disabled the “show log in” under the mobile options page of theme options..the theme still outputs the “log in menu” on visitor end on the mobile devices…
It shouldnt happen like this ? if the option is disabled it shud not show up in the visitor end ?
I have cleared cache of caching plugins too ,despite that it was showing it..
For now have disabled & removed the Mobile Theme plugin…the plugin is cool & i really want to make it work
2] Also i noticed this weird thing in my google alerts today, the mail link was one of our new tags. but the description which was showed by google below the title of our tag included these lines – “A password will be e-mailed to you.”

As u can see that 2nd last line ,those words ..exactly what appeared in google alerts..i am wondering why ? bcoz we dont use login system for members..also in theme settings “Show sign in / join” is disabled
And that code is present in all pages, now that i carefully inspected all…
what files do i need to edit so i can totally remove those divs coz never really gonna need that log in stuff,dont wanna cause any security compromise…

You should always have back up of your site, custom CSS, images, database before ANY major WP or theme update.
Do this first.
What if the server crashed and there was no back up ?
What if you break things on the upgrade ?

We used a previous version of the theme that worked well with Theia Post Slider. We have now updated the theme and the slider has broken.
We have extended support specifically for this problem. Is there a way that you can assist as it previously worked with Newsmag, but now after the upgrade it is broken.
I have gone through the usual plugin disabling etc. Only when the theme is changed to the default theme does the slider work again. The test site is here: http://staging2016.entrepreneurmag.co.za/advice/personal-improvement/setting-and-achieving-goals/inspiration-from-7-legendary-business-titans
Only slider and Visual Composer plugins are active so some things might look funny. It seems like the theme is interfering with the navigation.

1) I am just wondering if it is safe to continue with option B. Update the theme automatically without doing any backup.
2) I have set the avatar, but the photo at the About Me page remain unchanged – it has to be done in the About Me Page. I need to know specifically from where to where the code need to be replace with link to my photo? Worry that I am going to mess up the code on the page.
The body general worked. i tried to restore my backup 7.4 and everything is normal. That implies that the update is causing the problem

I suggest to disable all your plugins except Visual Composer and remove all your custom modifications added to the theme’s files and then check again if the issue persist.

Also update the plugins provided with the theme(Visual Composer, Social Counter..). Here you can find an update guide for Visual Composer – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ the procedure is the same for all the plugins provided with the theme.

That’s why I Make this Thread. Because I Have Activated This Settings long time ago, when the theme stil in 7.2 Version. When i Updated the theme into Newspaper 7.5 this problem appear. Please Help
Sorry for the inconvenience but the theme API will not work from the child theme. The fix needs to be implemented on a development stage, there is no quick fix we can add here. I will add this to our list for future updates but I cannot promise anything as we get lots of suggestions and we must prioritize.

I solved my problem.
Before updating, I switched theme to a basic one. After all updates, I came back to Newsmag, and then created a new child theme (the previous one caused errors).
Now, everything seems working.

Hi, I have 2 question.
1) I am currently using v7.3 & have install Envato toolkit. When I click on update automatically I saw a warning as below:
“Updating this theme will lose any customizations you have made. ‘Cancel’ to stop, ‘OK’ to update.”
I didn’t install any child theme, modification is only on menu, pages layout etc… So can I proceed with the update?
2) How do I change the image on the ‘About Me’ page (Classic Blog theme) from the lady to my own photo?

1. We do not have any reports of any slow down with our theme. We have lots of installs using the current version of the theme and we have no such reports from our users until now, so I think it;s safe to say that it is something on your end that is causing the issue. Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. Then test again.
Also make sure you increase your system status parameters like so: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Let us know if you still have trouble with the admin panel
2. This is a wodpress issue that started from the latest update. WordPress will not allow you top delete any theme from the WP dashboard. You will have to use ftp. It’s a wordpress bug, not a theme bug.

1. On any update, just the code modifications will be replaced as files get replaced when updating. the theme panel and custom css added through the theme panel will not get modified.

Unfortunately, the child theme has no support for theme API implementation, as you can see here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/ -> http://screencast.com/t/gtlg3AfKWzn The only way in this regard is to create your own modules in the main theme and for each update, you should make a full backup to avoid losing the data.
