Hi Team,

I love the theme, been using successfully ( http://www.dividendreditus.com ) without much trouble, until I tried to update it to latest version (10.3.6.1).

Currently it sits at 10.3.2:
https://ibb.co/zNSZH3z

1) When I try to update it to latest version, it seems to break the theme/make it vanish :

Before:
https://ibb.co/1YcczXM

After:
https://ibb.co/9ps7b0t

That image is from a post, but it is the same for all pages, including homepage.

2) I get no errors when I update; it says it updates sucessfully, and when checking console when loading pages, there are no new errors that show. Nothing “appears” to be broken according to browser console or WordPress.

3) I tried it twice, and now reverted back to yesterday’s save; so that i goes back to 1.3.2.

4) What gives?

Thanks in advance for your help/suggestions,

Bryan

I had this problem.. You have to use recommended values by Newspaper theme for WP memory limit, maximum execution time etc. .. You can find this in System Status Tab.. update the values & the problems will be solved

Hi Thomas,

Here is what Simion C. did last time:

Hi,

That should still work fine, they haven’t made any modifications in this regard, it is still the same – https://github.com/woocommerce/woocommerce/wiki/Enabling-product-gallery-features-(zoom,-swipe,-lightbox) I tested it on my end and it works correctly. This is how it looks before adding the respective code – https://prnt.sc/qxroxw
After I added the code in the theme or child theme functions – https://prnt.sc/qxrpum Now there is zoom when hovering the product image – https://prnt.sc/qxrq5m there is a lightbox – https://prnt.sc/qxrqju and a slider for the gallery images – https://prnt.sc/qxrqyj SO it should be the same for you.

In your case I see you did not enter the code anywhere, the code can be entered in the main theme functions or in the child theme functions. I entered just the code for the lightbox in the main theme functions – https://prnt.sc/qxs5xz and it appears to be working fine – https://prnt.sc/qxs6tbhttps://prnt.sc/qxs703

I should mention that this addition in the main theme functions file will be lost after a theme update, you could use the child theme provided in the theme package and enter the code there. That way it will not be lost.
If you have more questions let me know.

Thank you!
Simion C.

Hope this will help you!

Hi tald2629,

These are only some warnings, that indicate a part of query’s that are/will be deprecate.
Our developers are informed about them and in the coming theme update, these warnings will be removed (that code will be replace with a new one that is not deprecate).

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi Mark Gilbert, now if we stay and think a little, we’ll remember that WordPress is like a theme, when appear a major update there are always some problems, and after few days or weeks is released a new update to fix most of these problems.

For the moment the major problem that seem s to be reported to use is a redirect for smart list links, seems that this problem appear only with WordPress v5.5, if you use the previous version there is no problem and this is the only major problem that we are facing and our developers are working on it right now to discover the problem and try make a fix.
As for the preview, this is working correctly for me -> https://i.imgur.com/Uk0d5HF.png

Thank you!

Hi kentwissinger, I’m glad that I was able to help to you to discover from where comes this problem with auto update.

Also for the issue with single post templates we’ll discus in that topic.
Have a nice day!

Hi Christoph, please note that when you change Newspaper to Newsmag, you must remove and delete tagDiv plugins, because these are not the same and will fail to update.
Also please note that is not recommend to use both themes on the same website, here are element and features that are not made the same in both themes and this will affect your website and provide problems, you’ll need to choose the theme that you want to use and use the other one for other website.
Also if there are still some problems with theme activation or something, let us know and we can check it to see where is the problem.
Thank you for your understanding!

Why am I seeing two featured images in this post? There are no images in the post, so it should not be doubling up. I’ve removed the featured image in the WordPress post, updated, added again, and then updated. It still gives me two images.

What’s going on?

Hello,
My site is messed up after the update. Footer is changed, logo and header doesn’t show properly. What are the steps instead of just providing you the credentials?

I’m trying to go through your support forum to look for answers but you guys just ask for the credentials and you don’t provide the solution publicly and defeats the purpose of a forum.

Hello due to the WordPress update I downloaded jquery plugin to help old code plugins work, got these errors, you maybe know what is that?

wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp-booster/wp-admin/js/tagdiv-theme-plugins-setup.js: jQuery.fn.load() is deprecated

wp-content/plugins/td-composer/assets/js/js_files_for_wp_admin.min.js: jQuery.fn.load() is deprecated

I’m finding a lot of problems with WordPress 5.5.

Some of these are obviously problems with the “improvements” WordPress have made – their redesign means I have to make a lot more keystrokes getting to the same result in Newspaper (I am using 10.3.6.1). Amazingly they seem to have taken no account of productivity.

One strange one is that Preview now often won’t load without first reloading the wpadmin post page. Or is this a mismatch between Newspaper 10.3.6.1 and WordPress 5.5? Are there other problems with the two that will be fixed in next NP update?

Thanks
MG

I can’t turn off all the plugins. It would take a long time to reconfigure the plugins. It’s unrealistic to expect user websites to operate only with tagDiv plugins. Also, the rest of the site is working. It’s just the post template.

As I wrote, the post template was working fine until I tried to fix the inline ads after the latest update. There is something wrong with the Save function in Composer after the last update. It would take up to 10 minutes to save. Perhaps on the last save, it corrupted the single post template.

Example: https://warpgatenews.com/legend-of-korra-netflix/

Is there a way to reset the single post template?

Hello !

Please try updating your theme manually as you can see here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

Let us know the result !

Thank you !

Thank you. Apparently the problem is that tagDiv changed the way themes are updated. It is now integrated into WordPress. The default for WordPress is to auto update themes. I’ve turned this off so it doesn’t happen again.

It would have been good to anticipate and communicate this potential problem to users.

I do have an issue with single post templates, which I’ve posted separately to the forum.

Hi prophecywatchman and kentwissinger, please understand that our theme do not have the capability to make the theme update automatically (please check our article from here ) most probably on you host you have some options that when is detected a new update to be make automatic.

Also kentwissinger if you had a demo and you edit it and you do not made your own content, then yes, this will be lost when you change it or uninstall it -> https://i.imgur.com/9Im10z9.png -> https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-installing-demos/

indeed with inline ads from single post templates are some problems, but these can be solved using a fix with -> https://i.imgur.com/421qX6d.png

</div>

If there is still a problem and you want, you we can take a look to them, make a full backup and send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as cPanel. We will take a look. Include a link to this topic in the email.

Thank you for your understanding!

thanks for fast answer.
so you thing that the problem will fixet at next update?

Calin

Hi,

This can be done with custom work or some plugins, unfortunately using pro demos (cloud templates) these changes can not be set in a child theme, therefore you’ll lose all these changes when you’ll make a theme update.
Here is a similar topic -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/acf-into-cloud-template/ also if you want to add these custom fields in blocks, you ca do it in the files from this folder -> wp-content/plugins/td-composer/legacy/Newspaper/includes/shortcodes

Thank you!

Hi kunpotsu,

This problem appear if you are using the last version of WordPress v5.5, but you do not use the last version of theme (the only one that is compatible with WordPress v5.5), you can fix this in two ways:
1. Update the theme (make first a full backup to your website and database first and only after that make the theme update).
2. Downgrad the WordPress.

Thank you!

Calin
tagDiv Staff

Hi prophecywatchman, we are sorry for the inconvenience!

Normal there should be no problems when you make the theme update, but there can be some changes, when you are make the update from an old version, or if you are using some security plugins, firewall or other plugins like these.
If you want we can take a look to the problem that you have, for this please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as cPanel. We will take a look to this problem and we’ll try to fix it.

Thank you for your understanding!
