You must update the WP Home URL (WordPress Address (URL)) with the https:// version. This will surely solve the gallery issue.
To fix green lock issue, open theme panel, and check if the side logo, favicon, background URL has https in their URL REFER: http://prntscr.com/ljqsqt
Note: Things may break If you are using CloudFlare Free SSL on your website. You must configure it very carefully.

Did something change with the block thumbnails in the update?

Seems to still use 4.6 but the thumbnails are visible. We tried to recreate this issue on our end but without success.
So basically you updated the theme and installed a plugin (any plugin) and the issue begun to happen. What plugin did you deactivate now? The images are loading from what I can see.
Try to update again, this time try by FTP. Delete the theme folder from the WordPress themes folder and upload the new one.
Any details you can provide are helpful, so we can investigate more if there is a problem. Please let us know.

In your case it will not work however, because of the theme version currently used by the website (7.5). Quite a while back Instagram made changes on their end, we had to make modifications in the theme to keep Instagram working in the theme

Actually with the theme version used there will be problems with most of the socials. Most have modified this or that so we had to adapt. There were many modifications made and new features introduced since that version.
You should consider to update the theme to the latest version 9.1. This is an update guide

Be sure to make a backup before updating, to be safe.

I have further narrowed the issue down.
If this plugin is present: Login No Captcha reCAPTCHA
then thumbnails don’t work.
The issue is, it has to not be present during update or anytime thereafter. If I reinstall it after updating the theme, then the problem will come back, and *won’t* go away when it is then deleted.

Meon, Found the fix.
1. Go the the File manager.
2. Look to the top right Cog “settings” Select
3. Check the box “Show hidden files” then Save.
4. Go to the file path public_html > wp-admin
Look to the top Left and select + File
5. Create PHP.INI file
Insert the following:
safe mode = Off (cannot adjust)
memory_limit = 256M (MAXIMUM)
max_execution_time = 30 (MAXIMUM in seconds)
max_input_time = 60 (MAXIMUM in seconds)
post_max_size = 64M (MAXIMUM)
upload_max_filesize = 64M (MAXIMUM)
enable_dl = Off (cannot adjust)
Save
Make sure to also update your Php to 5.6.

Ok, I went there and updates my Instagram name. So it’s now correct where it says “Follow us at @celebrityjosh”. But there’s still the error that says: “Instagram data error: Instagram data is not set, plese check the ID.” – And that’s how they’re spelling please. Take a look at the bottom of celebrityjosh.com

For optimal or within parameters accessibility a theme would have to be created with this in mind in the first place I believe

Please update the tagDiv Composer, go in Newspaper plugins and update the plugins.
If this don’t work , please go themeforest, log in with your credentials and get the last theme version with all files, go in Newspaper> plugins deactivate tagdiv composer, go in theme file in plugins and delete the td composer, after that install the plugin from the folder you get from themeforest ( first unzip ) you’ll found the TD Composer in plugins.

What exactly is happening? Is the composer active? maybe it got deactivated. When updating the theme the composer tries to update automatically, sometimes this fails.
In that case it will deactivate itself and there will be an update button in the theme plugins panel
