Please disable all your plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn. Then check your smartlists again. If the problem is still there, check the image captions and try to use simple characters inside them. thanks again for your reply, and, don’t worry, I don’t get you wrong.
what I’m trying to say with my poor English is not that I need support for WPML or Types, but that the latest Newspaper release includes a buggy version of Visual Composer plugin (because, I repeat, it’s NOT a Newspaper bug what we’re talking about).
In the past months, in a very short time you’ve updated Newspaper many times: I would have expected a further update also for a new version of Visual Composer, because VC is a key part of your excellent theme, and the current version generates problems that I’ve never had before.
However, I understand that you’ve to test external plugins: I sincerely hope that the test would end quickly, because it’s really difficult to develop and maintain my sites under these conditions.

Please do not get me wrong. We know about the existence of this type of plugin but we do not know about the functionality of this with our theme and we cannot say for sure if this plugin works fine or not with the theme because the plugin has not been tested with our theme, sorry. We cannot give support/technic information on something that is not tested with our product. Indeed, the latest version of Visual Composer is 4.11 but unfortunately, it needs some time until we officially launch this version of Visual Composer. The plugin has to be checked and it is necessary to adjust to our theme for better result and this lasts. Surely, we will introduce this in near future update.

If you want to use these Visual Composer elements and you want to have unique posts for each Block/Grid you have two possibilities in order to achieve as you want. First would be to use unique articles option for your page, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/AiRje2Gkoij (the unique articles do not work with pagination but only without it) or you can use offset method for your elements, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/d0v7ZVUAJUQB -> http://screencast.com/t/BKQs54zQCeji -> http://screencast.com/t/bdsx0l3b In both of cases you will not have posts duplicate.

It is always recommended to use the visual composer version that comes with the theme: http://screencast.com/t/eOUcAPnx
Please only use this version. if for some reason this version does not work on your end, please remove all other plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. The plugin is included in the theme package and it works with the theme as it was meant to.

I’m a bit surprised you have no idea about WPML, it is one of the most popular wordpress plugins for multilingual support, but it’s not the point.
I’m not asking for support about WPML: although not officially supported, it works quite well with Newspaper, I developed several multilingual sites using Newspaper and WPML, and in any case the compatibility issue is NOT between WPML and Newspaper, but between WPML (and many other plugins) and 4.9.2 version of Visual Composer.
I believe that also Visual Composer producer, WPBakery, has noticed that 4.9.2 release has some issues, and in fact the current version of Visual Composer is 4.11.
But I can’t update the plugin because I’ve purchased as part of Newspaper, that’s all.

I have tested oy my side an image with custom link and everything works fine. The problem might be caused by your untested plugin which you are using. Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins.

BBpress has it’s own breadcrumbs and I’m not sure how they are not displaying on your end as people usually have trouble removing them (they had to delete parts of the code from the plugin files to do it). Please try to disable all your plugins except visual composer and bbpress, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Then check the breadcrumbs again.

Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins.

If the problem is still there, check for any custom code added to the theme or modifications to the homepage (rows added inside other rows will cause the layout to break)

I’m not sure how you implement your videos but you need to try a different method of implementation as the one you use is not responsive. It has a fixed with: http://screencast.com/t/fpnn2u3v so it will display fine in desktop but it will break in tablet and mobile.
As for the block 9, please try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn. This will rule out a plugin conflict. Also if you have any settings on the visual ccomposer row, please reset them to the defaults. You can also recrete it on a blank page and only use block 9 and the slide element. Duplicate images on smart lists usually are the result of using the Photon feature of the Jetpack. If you use this feature please disable it as it is known to cause issues with our theme.
If the problem is still there, please try to disable all plugins except visual composer and clear your cache as other plugins could also conflict with the smart lists. Also, if you are using “strange” characters (!@#$%^&*/”- etc) in ALT tag, the image will be twice. I have added this issue to our list of fixes and in next major updates will solve this problem. Until we will fix this issue, please try to remove these kinds of symbols in ATL tag for better results.

This depends on how you implement the social counter. If you implement it in visual composer on a split row like so: http://screencast.com/t/XaqWUM24Lx1X you can use the adbox element in visual composer. You can use it as any other visual composer element and position it the way you like.

I suspect your problem comes from your untested plugins which you have used on your side. Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. It is necessary to follow this advice because it is possible that you plugins to interfere with our theme and could cause this kind of issue (js error). If you still have this issue, please try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files.
Sometimes, wordpress itself has issues with special characters. If you use for example special characters in your sidebar titles, your sidebar will be stripped of widgets by WP. Please try to avoid special characters as much as possible.

You can select the featured category for posts and then use a visual composer block to filter this category. This way you can have featured posts appear on your homepage. If this is not you mean, please provide more details.

The import function won’t work properly from Newspaper to Newsmag because the selectors are different from one theme to another. For example if in Newspaper theme you have a background color set for main menu by importing the style in Newsmag this option won’t work. Some of the options will e recognized bot some will not be because of the difference between the css selectors.
The pages built with Visual Composer will be recognized by Newsmag theme as the shortcodes are the same. It won’t be recognized for example a block 18 because in Newsmag theme this block does not exist, but the commune elements will be recognized fine.
Also you will have to regenerate all thumbnails as Newsmag uses different sizes then Newspaper: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Before making any changes make sure you do a full backup to your current wp-install and the database also: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups This is a security measure, in case something goes wrong you can always get back to the previous version.

This sounds a lot like a js error. Please disable all your plugins except visual composer, clear your cache and reset cdn if you use it. Most likely you have a plugin conflict that interferes with the lazyload animation.

The theme has been developed to be fast but it may still need configurations on this matters so test your site using google’s page speed insights testing tool(or gtmetrix) and make sure you follow the guide instructions and methods then test your site again.
First of all deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches then test your site page-speed again. The setting right below Admin is supposed to have rights to edit, change posts, unless you have plugin or function which broke that. Admin level allows adding plugins, removing plugins, changing main settings, changing theme. The user role below that allows all content options except main “admin” functions.
Summary of Roles
Super Admin – somebody with access to the site network administration features and all other features. See the Create a Network article.
Administrator – somebody who has access to all the administration features within a single site.
Editor – somebody who can publish and manage posts including the posts of other users.
Author – somebody who can publish and manage their own posts.
Contributor – somebody who can write and manage their own posts but cannot publish them.
Subscriber – somebody who can only manage their profile.

You can create a new user role, or change the setting of each user role.
But “editor” by default can make changes.
To change the settings for Visual Composer, which is not part of the theme or WordPress, you can change the user roles for Visual Composer also.

Make sure your thumbnails are all as compressed as possible; change default compression level in wp-config.php or use a plugin. All the little images on home page should be very compressed as they are just visual placeholders. Make sure things like logo is very compressed also (e.g., if it’s only 4 colors, use .png vs .jpg, etc.).
Make sure you have gzip/deflate running as this compresses page for web browser automatically.
ADVANCED:
For advanced uses, consider server side compression like mod_pagespeed, or a caching plugin that might also remove blank spaces, comments, to reduce the file size of the HTML. For super advanced use, consider web host that runs both http/2 and mod_pagespeed (MPS can remove all comments, double spaces, tabs/indents, comments, and other elements that pad the page on the fly, then cache it via server side caching like opcache).
Make sure you increase the default memory in your wp-config.php file. Visual Composer uses a lot of memory, and by default WP assumes you’re using a text-only theme like those included with the WP install.
Default is 40mb and needs to be 96mb or higher.
