Hello,
Please make sure you install the visual composer plugin that comes with the theme: http://screencast.com/t/74bsUYY7xX And make sure you use the latest theme version.
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
If this is the case, then try to disable all other plugins except visual composer and check the error again.
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!
Hi,
I just installed Newspaper theme in my website, PanduanSaya.com. Just finish my edits but I found out a few things not working properly:
1. My mega menu not showing sub-categories. I followed the tutorial but can’t get it to work
2. My ajax filtering or pagination in block (homepage) not working properly. I clicked the next/previous, but somehow it takes to the top of website, and the ajax does not change the page that it should be – it just takes you to the top of the website.
3. My news sticker also having the same problem like ajax filtering in block.
Here are few of my settings, hope it helps:
– I disable lazy load, because it causing my images not showing
– I tried optimized pre-loading in mega menu preload, not working
– page attribute for my homepage (visual composer) is default template
– I use Incapsula CDN
Hello Bog,
We changed the slider into a single image box now, I need your help with these following items

Happy weekend!!
Cheers,
Pandian

Hi
The quotes wasn’t designed to work on pages if Visual Composer it’s used but you can try this custom css in theme panel > custom css: http://screencast.com/t/R1USfvkXOa
.td-container .td_quote_box p{
font-family: 'Open Sans', arial, sans-serif;
color: #777;
font-size: 13px;
line-height: 21px;
text-align: left;
padding-bottom: 16px;
margin: 0;
text-transform: none;
font-style: italic;
}
.td-container .td_quote_box {
background-color: #FCFCFC;
border-left-style: solid;
border-width: 2px;
border-color: #4db2ec!important;
padding: 15px 23px 0 23px;
position: relative;
top: 6px;
}
Note that this css will work fine only for this case, if you want different quotes, will be needed other customizations.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks!

Hello,
First of all, you have to understand that newspaper 6 is a totally different theme. It was built from scratch in order to provide a better ‘cleaner’ theme with many improvements and possibilities.
Many of the previous settings will not work in newspaper 6 so you have to change a few settings in your new theme version.
1) You can change ALL fonts of the theme from the theme panel. You just have to find the ones you need. For headings H1-H6 the option is here: http://screencast.com/t/SGl89bcpxhI4 for posts and for pages they are in the page section. If it is a module title, you have to find the modules and blocks article titles. There are a lot of font settings and they can be a bit confusing.
2) Shortcodes were changed in version 6 so you have to rebuild your page in visual composer. Also the CSS code for styling was changed in the new version so ALL custom modification made in version 4 will not work anymore
3) If you have custom modification to your titles, it will not work anymore. Please remove all CSS customization you had in the previous theme version.
As an alternative, you can use this css to adjust the title:
.page-id-8427 h3{
margin-top:0!important;
}
I hope this helps.
Thank you!
Hi,
If you use Visual Composer to create your page, you can use Widgetised Sidebar block to display your custom sidebar – http://screencast.com/t/QgjXE99zqzw5 as the sidebar is added automatically only if you don’t use VC pagebuilder.
If you need this, you can switch to PageBuilder with title template which allows you to set the sidebar from Page Settings – http://screencast.com/t/6Wklpgg3e – http://screencast.com/t/ufa8te8Ijz
But you need to be careful how you add blocks to the page if you use this template, for example Big Grid can be used only on full row width(so you cannot use it on this template only if you don’t use sidebar) – http://screencast.com/t/3cz3DtNHnlT – http://screencast.com/t/Oinr6S3zvLT
On posts you can select a custom sidebar.
– It can be set globally (to all posts) from Theme Panel -> Template Settings -> Blog and post settings – http://screencast.com/t/FBCaRUVYe2
– On each category, this will override the global settings and the posts included in the category will inherit the settings from here – http://screencast.com/t/j7J0vtEBti
– And it can be set individually on each post (overrides global and category settings) – http://screencast.com/t/DhiJ3uqcr
Hope this helps!
Hi,
I have added this to our suggestions list and the developers will consider it for future theme’s updates. We have over 250 features on our list we have to pick very carefully what we implement.
Just an alternative for first question. You could you Carousel from Visual Composer in the page content to display logos and add also the links – http://screencast.com/t/ZAtZaQCWywKF – http://screencast.com/t/F00RScfMvg
Thanks for the message!
Hi,
When you send the email for the other issue, please paste a link also to this topic and we will check it.
Please make sure you use the latest theme version 6.5.1 and you update the theme plugins first, then check it only with Visual Composer active(disable all other plugins) and if the issue persist we will take a look.
Thanks!
Hi
Try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer clear all caches and test again. Then activate the plugins one by one to see which plugin causes the problem.
Let me know how it goes!
Thanks!
Most themes which I have dealt with allow you to pick the width of the content and have certain sections or visual composer sections have no side margin. Not being able to fully use the width of the screen makes the theme look too retro in my opinion and I was not aware that this theme did not allow you do edit this…could you please provide me with a way to make full width blocks? I specifically would like to see this on my home page. Usually I see this option in visual composer but for some reason I do not see it with this theme.
Thanks!
Hello,
It depends on the grids you want to create. You can add different elements in visual composer when you edit your page. You can read this tutorial in our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/ or watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgWqozuqmJk
I hope this helps.
Thank you!
Hi Rhonda,
The tagdiv blocks are not apart of Visual Composer plugin, also the blocks settings, they come from the theme.
I’m not sure what settings did you used. Did you have some custom modification to the theme files? As you can see in the above screenshots the sort options are almost the same(we did not removed, just added).
You can try to add another sort order for blocks like this – http://screencast.com/t/7RzhIITcXiZ – http://screencast.com/t/RT00ZQ9CK38
case 'event_ascending':
$wp_query_args['orderby'] = 'date';
$wp_query_args['order'] = 'ASC';
break;
'Events Sort' => 'event_ascending',
Result: http://screencast.com/t/bZ0ftGdir – http://screencast.com/t/2AU4PJQv – http://screencast.com/t/U0jWnZnv
Thanks!

Hi,
If you use visual composer on pages, the title will disappear on the default template. You can reactivate it by selecting the pagebuilder + title template: http://screencast.com/t/x010GpaYOe
You can read more about breadcrumbs in our documentation here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/bread-crumbs/
Thank you!
Hi,
Newspaper 6 is practically a new theme, whole the code was rewritten, so if you had custom implementation to the code(socials on modules for example) you will have to re-add them.
Regarding the tweet like button slow loading, you could try this without any plugins active, leave only Visual Composer active, clear cache and see if you still have this issue.
Unfortunately we don’t have a hook to insert, but you could try to implement this for every module that you use, please check the plugin’s documentation – http://screencast.com/t/5d3WkY3UU – http://support.creoworx.com/easy-social-share-buttons-version-3-documentation/
Edit the theme’s modules – http://screencast.com/t/aaDEEo7w3
Thanks!
Hi,
Please check this only with Visual Composer and Woocommerce plugins active, clear cache and see if the problem persist. If you still have issues please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin acccess so we can take a look. Also make sure you use the latest theme version 6.5.1.
Thanks!
Due to all the security changes this year in WP, which are ongoing (Akismet identified this week as major security issue, allowing commenters to hack your site!), the best plan is this:
a) make changes to the core theme files (not child theme)
b) keep track of changes made, files, line number, code snippets changed where
c) to update, download new theme version, apply your mods to same files, replace old theme folder with the new version with your replicated mods;
d) if something fails, go back to the backup
Not much TagDiv or anybody can do about ongoing security patches to the Visual Composer plugin — TagDiv doesn’t make that, nor do the theme devs around the world bundling that as groovy cool way to do page layouts.
Sadly, WordPress and all the pieces which fit together have been going through major upheaval this year — and it’s good for security, but seriously you have to get annoyed when the anti-spam tool causes your site to be hacked from comments containing “emojis” which you can’t disable in WP without adding code to the functions.php file. Sheesh.
Anyway– just some feedback. Wasn’t trying to annoy or shoot you down, just some feedback that it’s not just you; WP has been a pain in the arse this year.
I’m counting something like 100+ updates since Spring on some of our sites for WP, Akismet, Yoast, Visual Composer, etc., due to security vulnerabilities. Wild.
Theme updates are becoming a problem especially if there are customization made to certain files.
From what I understand the last theme update – updated Visual Composer, however multiple files reverted any changes I made to them.
How do I go about updating the theme without losing my changes. This is frustrating and I do not recall at all having these issues with other themes.
It it not feasible to have to redo all the custom coding again and not updating the files doesn’t seem like an option because there could be important changes that I could be missing by excluding them from the update.
How can I update the theme without losing my changes?
Yes, those screenshots represent the area I am working on. I can see, based on your screenshots, that the Visual Composer has not changed their options. So I don’t know what changed. I just know that prior to the latest update (which is AWESOME!), the most current events displayed first. I’m guessing that a lot of people who use the Newspaper theme have also been using The Events Calendar plugin, so if we can figure this out, it will probably be helpful to many of us. I am also requesting help in the forums of The Events Calendar.
Thank you for your help.
Okay,
I forgot to mention that I’m currently using the Child Theme (as we’ve added a few customisations to the footer and functions.php)! I activated the main theme and found that the Featured Images have returned. I also discovered that deactivating all of the plugins (but Visualiser) caused the site to white-screen, so we’re looking into that at the moment.
It seems it’s entirely likely that some code we added to the Child Theme files have conflicted with the Featured Image. We’ll do some digging and update the post accordingly. Alternatively, I could send over the Child Theme files (via the email address you provided) to discuss things in more detail?
Hi,
I’m using several types of Visual Composer-grids on my Newspaper-homepage for showcasing products and topics. Before displaying the actual picture/thumb, there is a grey-coloured area which irritates some users. It’s really annoying and it’s always happening – doesn’t matter if I have a large grid with 10+ thumbs or just one with two thumbs. Is there a chance to minimize or shut off these effects (which is probably due to loading times of the thumbs)?
Hints appreciated.
Hi Pandian,
It seems that i cannot see the problem because your slider is not sliding. This might be due to some errors in your console: http://screencast.com/t/yZfxO23EA3
Please try to disable all your plugins except visual composer and check your site again. It might be a plugin issue.
Let me know how it goes!
Thanks.
Hi,
I have checked your page on desktop and did not found any issues, the background image is loading fine – http://screencast.com/t/o3zfabXVFa Do you have this issue on specific browser?
I also checked on an Ipod and you are right the image is not loading.
Please disable all your plugins except of Visual Composer, clear cache and check again. Also make sure you use the latest theme version 6.5.1 and update the Visual Composer to the latest version 4.7.4.
If the issue persist please provide about your settings for that row(some screenshots may help) so I can recreate it on my side as I could not recreate this(I have used a parallax image and work on mobile device).
Thanks!
I am using The Events Calendar plugin and displaying events from the calendar on my home page through the use of tags. However, there is no option on the visual composer to sort items from least recent, only from most recent. It did work correctly before the update, showing events from most current to future events. My website is onechristianvoice.com.
I would greatly appreciate any suggestions you might have on this.
