You will see under the optional message a link leading to the plugin documentation that also provides the installation method. We used this method because lots of people installed the plugin without knowing what it does and kept coming back to the theme support asking why the site behaves like that on mobile . They activated a plugin without knowing what it does. So we had to make sure people knew what it is before installing it:

Yes, well you should use spacing in your posts though 🙂 if you do not add any space the theme will not know where to cut the word. Adding a long string of text with absolutely no spacing will provide this result.

The general modal image should work as expected. Iran a few tests but could but could not find any issue with the general modal image. It could be a plugin conflict with one of your plugins. (untested ones are the share buttons and mailchimp)
Also a custom modification can also break the modal image or a faulty child theme.

1. Our theme requires featured images in order to display a thumbnail on the homepage and other blocks. I’m not sure what plugin you used for this but it could not be compatible with the theme

Google wants to force https on every website that requires a sign-in/login:

We made the changes to adapt to this new feature introduced in chrome 5.6 (i think)
The login provided warnings by google even if turned off and we had to combat that behavior. Now the warnings are gone but if you update your chrome browser and you are not on https and you have the login modal active, your site will show as not secure just like this: https://www.screencast.com/t/ZSEWnqGk

It seems google has taken a big step forward in their goals rather forcefully if you ask me but it’s not my place to judge.

Unfortunately our theme has no such image spot. You can add a category background but not a category header. You cna use this topic for a solution on how to add a header image on a particular category template but you cannot add an image to affect all the different category templates at once. The theme was updated specifically for this reason so now google will have no more issues if the login modal is disabled. If it is enabled however, google chrome will show your site as ‘insecure’ as it requires https. It is part of a new project from google to get ALL sites to move over to https.

If you theme ad system interferes with this feature, you can bypass the theme ad system and use the adrotate plugin to render your ads. This way the theme will have no more influence over the ads.

A blank screen is an indication of a PHP error, so try setting WP_DEBUG to true in your wp-config.php file, to see if any error shows up

Alternatively you can disable plugins and clear cache and see if the problem is still there. There could be a plugin conflict going on.

A child theme can also provide such an error so please try to switch to the main theme.
