I think you have some kind of Java conflict with the FB plugin above the author box, or something else on page. When I highlight your bio text in the author box, it actually hides it like it’s being erased or has a link style applied to the whole bio, which isn’t normal.
Hi Lucian,
Here is the link of one of our post. you can check the author box and the author name.
http://www.omnipundit.com/2014/10/the-showstoppers-of-the-hero-indian-super-league/
Hi,
Please send your site’s URL, I need to inspect this so I can provide a solution for this.
Also please try this custom css in theme panel >custom css: http://screencast.com/t/dWG3CiENZ
.author-box-wrap .td-author-name a {
color: red;
}
Thanks
Hi Lucian,
Thanks for the reply. But the process you mentioned didn’t work out. We had to install WP Avatar plugin for wordpress to get the image. Anyways can you check why we are not getting the author name beside the author box.The text of the name appears to be in white color. How do we change it. Please check here http://www.screencast.com/users/omnipundit/folders/Default/media/288965d9-dd7f-499c-9b00-bf55dd0348c5
Hi,
Please make sure you set an avatar for each user from here: http://screencast.com/t/A6v2enkxdA as the theme uses the that image. Also make sure you edit and updated your profile from here: http://screencast.com/t/ATfY2hT7J
The theme pulls this info into the author box. Please let me know if it works.
Thanks
We are using the newspaper theme in our website where different people write articles. We are not being able to put the author(user) image and the author name is not appearing in the author box. Only the biography is showing up. Can anybody help us with this problem
Hi,
Please go through the plugins settings and carefully check if you didn’t set it somehow to be displayed only on post pages.
Unfortunately we haven made any tests with this plugin and the time doesn’t allow me to check this. If you still can’t find a solution for this you can address to plugin author on plugin’s support page: https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/wp-facebook-fanbox-widget
Thanks for the message!
Hi Emil,
(had to be offline for a while, sorry for my late response)
Thanks for your answers.
1) OK
2) Pagination works fine now
3) Tried to customize td_authors.php but couldn’t figure it out yet. (just to make it clear: the links I would like to custom or remove are the ones on the name and photo of the author bio box that appears at the end of each post)
4) Solved it.
Thanks a lot,
Paulo
Hi folks
okay… messing with my hobby website magazine, playing with logo etc., but anyway ran into some apparent gremlins in 4.4. Viewing pages in Chrome/Win7-64.
Standard setup; no bizarre plugins, no jetpack, no caching; mod_pagspeed off at the moment; no mega menu.
Issue #1 (personal preference)
on the author, category, archives pages, there are breadcrumbs printing on page under story titles which should not be there and are totally redundant, e.g., here:
http://ga-ga.com/gogaga/movies/
Issue #2:
the category pages, tags, author page don’t appear to pickup the H1 tag settings from theme panel, and also seem to “run into” the breadcrumbs at page top (as above link).
Issue #3:
on post tops with post type “style 2” the top ad banner gets truncated; even adding margin above the full width div for the breadcrumbs.
http://ga-ga.com/1815/book-review-good-title-bad-title-beatles-destroyed-rock/
Issue #4:
How to add a line rule below the top banner ads in general to better separate from the content areas? Could not find a single unique div for the top banner ad, and adding a line rule to the entry-crumbs simply added that to all pages, which didn’t work too well since on the normal categories, the crumbs are not full width and only in left main column. Perhaps even a background color for those pesky ads which Google serves with no borders and just floating on white backing look funky.
Issue #5:
Any way to disable the top banner ad on home page ? Right now on home page when above slider it overlaps the background gradient and with the transparent ads the drop shadow basically runs through the middle of the ad. http://ga-ga.com/
Similarly on the post style with full width photo (style 4), the banner ad doesn’t work with full width image
http://ga-ga.com/1829/book-review-place-hide/
COMMENTS:
Due to the issues with the top ad banner am thinking of just disabling it.
An option to have the ad banner ABOVE the logo would be nice, as I’ve mentioned before. Ideally with option to put a background color on the section, so it doesn’t conflict with the logo on either white or black background layouts. That does not currently appear as an option in the admin panel, unless I’m going blind. 🙂
ONE LAST:
How might I add a background color behind the div for the Google ad box in sidebar, to help “block that in” with the column width? Also useful for when Google serves a narrow tall ad, or a no border on white ad where it looks bizarre in the space.
THANKS!!! Some of that might be nit-picky, but only issues I’m having – otherwise perfect.
many thanks for your help..
is there any way to set background collor separately ??
eg.
mega menu and more article box with diferent colors from the rest..
share box and author box from same color.
other thing.. can i ad a load more articles buttons on category page?
Thank you for the code. It worked and is quite useful. Better that than displaying the link to the author of the plugin below each article
If I read the plugin description right, the reason it doesn’t work out of the box is that Newspaper doesn’t use the default the_excerpt function.
But the get_excerpt function can also be easily overridden. What Lucian means (I think) is that you need to not only remove Newspaper’s insertion of the excerpt, as in the screenshot, but also put in the plugin’s.
In the plugin’s FAQ I see this:
“Can I manually call the filter in my WP theme or plugin?
The plugin automatically hooks on the_excerpt() and the_content() functions and uses the parameters specified in the options panel.
If you want to call the filter with different options, you can use the_advanced_excerpt() template tag provided by this plugin. This tag accepts query-string-style parameters (theme developers will be familiar with this notation).
…”
So you just need to do that. P.S. If the plugin author has defined the_advanced_excerpt() the way others do, make sure you don’t use
<?php echo the_advanced_excerpt; ?>
but just
<?php the_advanced_excerpt; ?>
and give it options as described in that plugin FAQ. 🙂
If you try this out and still need more help deploying it, tagDiv or the plugin author might be able to help you depending on where your difficulty lies.
Hi,
You could do this by using a plugin like Advanced Custom Fields to chose, when editing the post if to show that author box or not for that post.
Here is how you can do it, follow this topic: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/function-to-hide-ads-and-function-to-show-author/#post-8993
If you don’t have basic php/html/css knowledge we recommend you hire a freelancer from sites like: http://studio.envato.com/ if you don’t know how to do it yourself.
Unfortunately we cannot offer custom work as we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support.
Thnaks
It’s solved.
I’ve tried again to adjust another function and I could to do.
I’ve adjusted the function “get_author” and I created a new function “get_cartola” in the td_module.php. Here is the code.
function get_cartola() {
$buffy .= '<span>';
$buffy .= the_field('cartola', $this->post) . '</a>' ;
$buffy .= '</span>';
}
Now I just call the function over the title in td_module_3 or td_module_4 or anywhere.

Thanks.
Hello,
Would it be possible to have an option to toggle the author box on or off for individual posts?
Salut,
Mersi

Hello!
I followed the recommendation of Yoast (see here) that says that the most important content from a site must be written in pages instead of posts.
So I used the Post Tags and Categories for Pages plugin, since by default your theme cannot link a page to a category.
But I have several issues:
* I cannot “force” the authorbox at the end of the page
* I cannot “force” related articles also for the pages (tag based)
* The breadcrumbs aren’t working as they should (according to the settings from the theme)
So please instruct me what custom changes I need to make for these to work. If you need my website credentials, please say so (it isn’t public, it has a coming soon plugin as it’s in development).
Also, as from a SEO perspective the need to make pages also more “content-friendly” is crucial (again, not my opinion, but Yoast’s), it would be fantastic if the theme would come at some point with advanced settings for pages – to also have categories, tags, related posts and the authorbox at the end (with checkboxes like other settings from “Post Settings” in the theme panel).
PS: Daca raspundeti in romana nu ma supar 🙂 Multumesc 😉
Hi,
You have this errors in the console: http://screencast.com/t/Mg50EAtIi5x which I believe it stops js from loading the image, the author avatar which appears on author box it’s the same with the one from author page because the same author box it’s used in the author page also, so in your case the avatar from posts pages it’a generated by a plugin. Please disable all plugins and check after if this issue is till there, also disable the wp user avatar.
Thanks
Hi
In my author box the avatar is working normally but in the author page it doesnt appear at all.(see the photo) I have also install the WP USER AVATAR but still nothing.
Any ideas????
Hi guys!
First of all, awesome theme!
I’ve gathered some questions i need your help with:
1) Is there a way to paginate tagDiv Authors box widget?
2) Widget pagination won’t work either on sidebars and footers.
3) Can i custom Author Box links (links on author name and photo) and point them to another page OR instead create a custom Author page?
4) I’m still double checking this one, but my custom sidebars work fine for a while but then lose all their widgets.
Thanks!!
Paulo
This new release is more buggy than a cockroach infested motel.
(1) The YouTube Playlist doesn’t format ANYTHING like what appears on the little tab.
(2) There’s no way to add a new “row” and format it like you want and have it show up like it’s supposed too (for example—top part of the website— i wan the regular slider and small article box like model 1). And then have the row beneath it be 3 columns.
(3) The unique article feature is broken (and it’s really, really, really annoying me)
(4) And this feature has been requested and as someone who works in media publishing—I like having the by line BENEATH the date like very other news site out there and it’s never been added. I have to “manually do it” and it’s time consuming.
I’m already looking for another theme.
The point about it being easier is true. But just in case having original box is strongly desired… 🙂
1. Find the ID of the user you want to hide by editing the user and looking in the address bar. E.g. you might see “http://yoururl…/wp-admin/user-edit.php?user_id=940” in which case the ID is 940.
2. In the Newspaper theme files go to includes/modules/module_modifier/td_module_blog.php.
3. Find the function that begins with:
function get_author_box($author_id = '') {
if (!$this->is_single) {
return;
}
if (td_util::get_option('tds_show_author_box') == 'hide') {
return;
}
if (empty($author_id)) {
$author_id = $this->post->post_author;
}
4. Add this after the part I just quoted:
if ($author_id == '940') { // Replace with the ID you found
return;
}
That’s the if statement Kronos means and it just returns nothing for the author box if it’s the author you want to hide. Save and/or upload the file and check an article where you don’t want to see it.
P.S. That file can be modified in a child theme to survive theme updates automatically.

A plugin might be best. I recommend StarBox. Works very well, looks better than 99% of those out there, is free (Plugin Repository), gives you easy options for where to display (natural position like the theme and in widgets), and allows you turn it off per author. Easier than including an if statement to check against the current author.
Hi,
I have disable the author box. I have two authors in my blog. One wants to show the author box on his post the other doesnt.
Is it possible to add “author box” in specific posts with html code in the end of the article? I have 400 posts and I want to add it only in 5 posts.
thanks Steven. In my case that is not possible, since I had to change every author post to match the category (category:weightloss author:weightloss), since Facebook now present your ads like this: “URL | by author” and I dont want that. For this reason I cannot set up the author box to match my g+ account.
Thanks anyway
