Hello,
I have just installed this template and everything is ok except the home. I have imported a default homepage with several elements (flex blocks, social blocks and everything) and when I am on tagdiv composer everything is ok, but when I load the homepage, for example Flex Block 3 is getting full stretch and there is no space for social counter widget on the right.
The template loads both style.css (parent and child theme) but something is getting wrong.
Could you help me please to solve it?
Thank you
I have added this on our to do list, but I can’t say when we will get to it however.
I forgot to check on mobile, it is the same issue there. So please enter this code as well
.td-header-mobile-wrap .tdb_mobile_horiz_menu:nth-child(3),
.tdb_mobile_horiz_menu .sub-menu {
z-index: 998!important;
}
You can keep these codes in the theme panel for the time being, they won’t cause any problems. Let me know if they work correctly as in my tests – http://prntscr.com/odgr5k
Sorry for this inconvenience.
I have found solution. I’ve been using child theme. That was causing the issue.
Thank you and have a nice day!
Setting up a brand-new site with Newsmag4 child theme. When I edit a post, using the “Classic Editor” plugin (not gutenberg) the only shortcodes I see are for embedding videos. Is it possible to have the shortcodes for dropcaps and other typography elements to show up?
I took a guess or two and discovered that I can manually insert the shortcodes, e.g.: [dropcap]T[/dropcap]. So, if a complete shortcode reference is available, that would also be useful.
I installed Newsmag4 on a fresh wordpress install a few days ago. I imported the classic blog settings, but not any content.
By the way, really great experience with TagDiv themes! Was so impressed with the Newspaper theme on a recent redesign, that I jumped at the chance to try Newsmag as well. Really super work.

I did so through the functions (‘taxonomies’=> array( ‘category’, ‘post_tag’ )) as well as on the Theme Panel under Custom post types. We are on version 9.6. I think this setting might have been removed from the earlier version. I was thinking this particular setting would do the job for me; otherwise, the setting appears to be pointless and does nothing. Guess I’ll have to go in and customize theme files then.
Good to know about the child theme. Updating would completely remove the functionality we need to keep.
Hello !
Please note that there have been major updates since version 6 to 9.7.3, due to update of the core: https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/ The child theme has some bugs that will be fixed coming with the next update.
Also take a look on our documentation regarding updating the plugisn and the theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ ; https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-how-to-update-a-plugin/
Please send us a link to your website also.
Thank you !
Hi,
How exactly are you adding categories to custom post types? From what I know that is no possible by default. Maybe with a plugin or through code it is possible to do. But even if the custom post types have categories, they wouldn’t appear in the category pages and theme modules. They will appear in the taxonomy pages.
We are currently working on providing the same child theme functionality as before the 9.7 update when there were major changes. Now the child theme is limited to just the required files, stylesheet and functions.
Thanks
The screenshots look different from what we see, so we must have to upgrade. Will a child theme no longer work with the new version? Will we have to modify the theme files directly? If so, how is it possible to keep the theme up-to-date after doing that without losing our work?
Hello !
The child theme was affected in the last updates due to the new reglementations of Envato:https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/ The most important files from the child theme lately are style.css and functions.php, other modifications can be achieved using the theme panel.
Normally our child theme should remain the same after updates. But depends on the updates. 9.7 was a major update and that’s why there were so many issues with our users.
Yes, in the next update the child theme will be better optimized for Newspaper Theme.
I hope you understood our point of view and it’s clearer to you !
Thank you !
Is that specific for newspaper theme, because with other themes, when I create a child theme, inside I have style.css, functions.php and sometimes i create header.php and when I do a change inside function.php (child theme) it doesn’t effect it when I update the theme.
So in next update i should use child theme? for better customization.
Hello !
Untill the next update you will have to edit your function.php file. Starting from the next update you will be able to start using child theme since it will be made to work better with Newspaper Theme. But as in newspaper even in child theme if there will be file modifications your modification will need to be re-done in child theme or newspaper theme.
I hope this was helpfull !
Thank you !
Hello,
I want to add something to function.php, where should I go, so when i update the theme it will not affect my website.
I’m not using child theme, as you suggest me.
Thank you !
Hi,
Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict with untested plugins, please deactivate all non theme plugins and child theme ( if you are using ), clear all cache and try again.
Let me know the results!
Thank you!
Hi Calin,
To be honnest I’m very surprised by this situation. I’m using the child theme for many files :
– style.css
– editor-style.css
– functions.php
– special php page template
– other files
I don’t understand why you did not give any warning before ? It’s OK to decide to remove the child theme but please help us do the migration. Not like this without any help or heads up.
>> What are the next steps for your users with child theme ? We need to understand what to do now, not in 2 weeks.
Thanks for helping.
Hi,
In the last version of the theme there is a issue with child theme, this will not work properly, this problem will be fix for the coming update.
If you need the child theme, you can try the implementation for the child theme provide by an user in this topic -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/issue-with-9-7-update-changes-single_template_-in-child-theme/
Thank you!
Hi,
Replacing the tdc_map.php should remove the condition for the elements that are not show in TagDiv Composer if you are using the WPBakery, please make sure that you’ve clear all cache after you make those changes.
Also if you have the child theme activate the there are some settings that will not apply, those will be set on default.
If there is still a problem, you can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as cPanel or FTP if possible. We will take a look. Include a link to this topic in the email.
Thank you!

Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict with untested plugins, please deactivate all plugins and child theme ( if you are using ) and let only the tagDiv Composer , clear all cache, deactivate the cache plugin and try again.
If this is not what you mean, please provide some more details and some screenshots or a link where I can inspect the captions from your gallery.
Thank you!
for the moment I disabled my child theme and that immediately fixed the problem
Hey Simion,
I’m in the same case with child theme. I updated the child them but the post cloud template is not behaving accordingly : no single image background in top of the article, no sidebar…
any idea ?

Hi,
Do you use a child theme maybe? if you update and disable the child theme, does the website display correctly?
There was a modification in the child theme functions file in update 9.7.3
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/site-messed-up-upgrading-from-9-7-2-to-9-7-3/
So if you use an older child theme there may be such problems. Try and make that modification, then check again. Let me know and sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks

Hi,
i think that you assigned for each post type a taxonomy ( as category ), if is so please check our documentation for custom post type -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/custom-post-type-support/ , you can show the assigned category/taxonomy only if you make changes in the theme files, also now the child theme is not longer working as in previous versions of theme -> https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
Thank you!
Hi,
That plugin has been removed, it will not work anymore with the latest theme version and future updates. There is a new plugin now with an example
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/developer-info/
We will update the documentation as soon as possible.
However I can’t say if there will be any future modifications in this matter, in coming updates. Remains to be seen. We are also working on a way to provide the same capabilities for the child theme as before the previous updates (prior to 9.7).
Thanks
