When using 9.7.3, and attempting to recreate the Flex Slider setup in Classy Magazine demo, putting the margin of the meta info at -50px to get it to overlap the post picture just will not work. Have traced it down to line 4091…
.td_module_wrap.td-meta-info-hide .td-module-meta-info {
min-height: 1px;
margin-top: -4px;
}
The margin-top: -4px; is not being superseded by the -50px auto 0px I’ve inserted into “meta info margin” in TD composer. Should this line be removed in style.css? I really don’t like removing lines because things get broken when an update comes out, but there’s really no way to overwrite it in a child theme, is there? What’s the issue here?
Indeed this is a problem, Newspaper is very popular used by sites with thousands of daily visitors. I understand that envato terms was the reason for this mix-up, but having the post templates work in child theme is very crucial.
Very important also is to fix the lightbox as described here:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/lightbox-problem-the-image-could-not-be-loaded/
So in the next update that we await as soon as possible i would very much like to see those 2 issues fixed.
Calin — where do I get a copy of Newspaper v9.6.1 ? The latest version is disrupting our site (yes, we use a child theme, and updating the functions.php didn’t solve the problem). Thanks, Calin.
“After the recent theme updates the child theme is quite limited.” DANG! That is a HUGE problem. Is the plan to stop supporting the parent/child theme protocol entirely, then? Or are you working on a fix? We tweak the header.php file, the single.php file, and the loop-single.php file. If we’re no longer able to do that, it pretty much renders your theme completely obsolete and useless.
I’m having the same problem. When the child theme is active, changes made to any files within either the parent or child theme have absolutely no effect. Changes to header.php and single.php and loop-single.php … have no effect whatsoever. Surprised by such a significant problem with a theme that has been SO amazing.
Guys, I figured it out — I reverted back to the original theme (was using Childify Me before) and now the problem is solved. So if you’re using Childify Me, revert back to the original theme.
Same problem here, please could you fix the issue asap as we will go live within 2 weeks and we have a lot of custom templates and others functions coming from the child theme,
Best regards!

I would check your Child Theme header in the functions.php I did the same thing but I was using an older child theme and it was throwing errors.

Hi @dimartinoa25,
Please provide some more details about the problem you have; if you are referring to post templates, if you try to change theme and you have child theme activate this will not work, you’ll need to deactivate child theme, clear all cache and try again.
Thank you!

The file is in the composer plugin now, most of the theme files have been moved there after the recent updates. This modification could have been made in a child theme in the past, but now the login button link is here – http://prntscr.com/nyqald
So you would have to modify it there directly, after each update. Sorry for this inconvenience.
Hello !
This issue is caused by the Child Theme. You will have to disable child theme in order to work this. Our developers are working to fix this so it would be fixed in the future updates.
We are sorry for the inconvenience !
Thank you !

Fresh install on fresh wordpress, theme installs with no issues, however, upon activation of the TagDiv Composer, the entire site goes down and I get an error: “The site is experiencing technical difficulties. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.”
Upon further investigation I am getting this dump from the server:

Hi,
Do you maybe use a child theme? There is an issue currently that happens when a child theme is active, all the posts will use the default post template. That could be the case here. If that is the case, the solution would be to deactivate the child theme, sorry for the inconvenience.
After the recent theme updates the child theme is quite limited, as most of the theme files were moved in the tagDiv composer plugin
– https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
In case the problem is different than what I mentioned above, please post some more details about it, also a link to the website.
Thanks

Hi,
Unfortunately in Newspaper v9.7.3 there is a problem between WPBakery, tagDiv Composer, child theme and tagDiv Cloud Library, we’ll try to fix it as soon as possible.
Thank you for your understanding and sorry for the inconvenience!
