Hi,
You could modify an existing module using a child theme or make your modifications directly to the main file. The thumbnail sizes are defined in the theme here – https://www.screencast.com/t/jpQvJEG5 you could modify the one you want there, and then be sure to regenerate your thumbnails using this tool for example
– https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/
If you would like to add a new module or block, here is more information if you choose to do it

You may also want to look through the official WordPress docs at some point on wordpress.org – the ‘codex’ as this explains much of the core functionality of what WP is, how it works, and what things do.
This may prove useful for background:
https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes
The child theme is used if any modification is needed to be done on the theme files. If modifications are done on the parent (main) theme files, the changes would be lost when the theme is updated. Updating the child theme should keep the modifications intact even when the parent theme is updated, depending on the amount of changes made in the parent theme due to the update and modifications done in the child theme.
One more question! it is safe to update my theme in future without making a child theme?
Hi
I understand that it is best practice to use a child theme so that your customizations are kept intact whenever you do updates. I see that the Child theme can be found in the code file that comes with the theme. Inside this file are two zip files, td-api-plugin-1.0.2 and td-custom-post-type. Are these the child theme zip files that you would use and which one would you use? I was hoping to find a zip file called “newspaper child theme” that I could upload directly into my themes section and activate.

hello! I’m new here and I’m totally noob, today i bought newspaper 7 theme . I installed wordpress via C panel, I would like to ask you : it is necessary to create a child theme? And how to do it? Thanks!
Please help me. My site is not visible properly on mobile devices.
It shows only short codes and logo is also not shown when page is refreshed.
Featured images are also not opened which I customized through child theme.
Let me mention here that I am using certain customization via child theme. Is it due to that reason?
Thanks.
Hi
I have just purchased the newspaper theme and tried to install it locally using MAMP. I follow this process from the dashboard –> themes –> add new –> upload theme –> Choose File –> Install Now. I am using the theme zip file but it won’t upload and instead, I get a message “Are you sure you want to do this?” Then this link “please try again” which doesn’t work either. This is a fresh WordPress install that I am using in MAMP and I can install themes like twenty fourteen from WordPress.Org by choosing that theme and clicking install. I can also install the newspaper theme on my live site (MySpace.net.nz) but want to be able to develop in my local environment which I have been able to do so with other themes before, although I am no expert.
I have just tried uploading a child theme which is only 13kb and was successful. Next, I tried to upload the parent theme, (not newspaper), which is 3809kb and got this message “The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.” so I presume the problem I have got is a lack of space in my local MAMP environment. I have 826GB of free disk space on my computer if that has anything to do with it. How do I solve this problem so that I can upload the newspaper theme?
Next problem. On my live site, I have activated Visual Composer which looks like it is available to use but I notice that when I click on visual composer from the dashboard menu I have this message. “Hola! Would you like to receive automatic updates and unlock premium support? Please activate your copy of Visual Composer.” If I click on the link in this sentence I get taken to the product licence tab and a big blue button to activate visual composer. If I click on that I get taken to a ” No licence found” window with a big green button to purchase a licence. Do I have to purchase a licence as I thought the plugin came with the theme at no cost?
Would be grateful for some help on these to issues I have.
Lachie
Hi Mochal and Simion,
I have the exact same problem with v7.8.1. with the new update (last version I had was from Feb) and this one did not have any issues. With version v7.8.1. Open Sans Condensed shows a weird font like Mochal had a screenshot of above. All the other fonts seem to be accurate..
I just did a fresh install and hardly have any plugins installed.. I haven’t modified the header menu, or using child theme. I do have a custom code but that is only to make the social media sharing buttons have white background.
Did you ever figure out of it?
Hi,
Please try and switch from your child theme to the main theme, the check to see if the issue is still there. If this does not fix it and you have no custom code that could affect the background, and deactivating the plugins also does not resolve it, you could try and make a new theme install
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/
Maybe something has gone wrong during the update process. The background ad is working properly on my end, using the latest version of the theme.
Thanks
Hi,
Unfortunately I do not understand what you are asking, and the translate is not helping. Please try to formulate your question again in English and provide more details about your this, so I may be able to give you a proper answer.
If you want to create and use a child theme for your website, here is a guide to hep you achieve it
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
Thanks
Hi,
The child theme seems to be loading in the page source – https://www.screencast.com/t/GF0tClQQtk
I see that your styles are loading through a caching system – https://www.screencast.com/t/HGH9i9q0 maybe this is preventing the child theme from working properly. You could try to disable this system and all your plugins except the ones bundled with the theme, as a test and see if this has any affect. Also check the functions file in the child theme to contain this code – https://www.screencast.com/t/7TMId7wSd
I have created a child theme using the guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/ and the code entered in the stylesheet is loading and applying in the main theme. Try creating a child theme again with the code provided in the theme package, enter your code in the css file (make sure the code is valid) and then activate this child theme.
Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks
Excuse me.
Really the template I can see for an instant when the site “jump” when is charging or refreshing, is the same child template (“Global Medicine”) and not the Default template.
Is the same child theme with other strong font and other background color that is visible immediately before the images finish loading. I had to see it many times for to understand it. I took a photo with my phone, where the background color seems to be blue but really is light blue.
Please look the two images:
http://chilecientifico.cl/chilecientifico/normal-page.jpg (this is the normal page as you can see in http://chilecientifico.cl/chilecientifico/)
And look:
http://chilecientifico.cl/chilecientifico/page-when-charge.jpg
I understood by previous posts that the custom styles that I modified were in last place when the template charge, and for this for an instant the template shows the default styles and at the end my custom styles, but this styles there are not my custom styles, like fonts and background color. This are styles of personalized styles from theme panel.
I would like to know how to fix this. Really is not the default template, excuse me.
this is not a plugin conflict as I have double checked that.I have no custom code that I have added to the theme, and I am not using a child theme…please advise further…
Hello,
Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!

Hello,
Pleas only use wp super cache and these settings: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
We have not tested the w3 total cache plugin. It could also be another conflicting plugin so it’s best to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!

Hi,
If you changed the child theme name, please make sure you changed the name here also, besides the folder name
– https://www.screencast.com/t/Q0SzHTcMWM
Maybe that is why your customization are not applying. Try this and let us know.
Thanks
Hi,
We have just updated to 7.8 from a version 4.xx. It was a fresh install in that we deleted the previous theme and installed the new one. We never got an update script from the Welcome Panel so assumed everything was ok.
The child theme is the main issue.
We’re making changes to the stylesheet but they are not being honoured. The stylesheet simple doesn’t load the amendments being made. Opening them up in browser inspector displays the stylesheet info, nothing else.
It seems 7.8 is loading but not 7.7c – The welcome panel also displays the theme name as newspaper even though we had changed the child theme name.
Be great to get a resolve to this so we can put this project to bed.
Thanks

Thank you Simion,
it took me only a small change in the child theme!
1. added register_nav_menus in functions.php
2. changed ‘theme_location’ from ‘header-menu’ to ‘header-menu-mobile’ in /parts/menu-mobile.php
This is really one of the best themes,
Thank you!
Hi folks
We had the same issue and we didn’t change anything in the CSS or hack the settings.
Just don’t forget to update your child theme with the new functions code
add_action( 'wp_enqueue_scripts', 'theme_enqueue_styles', 1001);
function theme_enqueue_styles() {
wp_enqueue_style('td-theme', get_template_directory_uri() . '/style.css', '', TD_THEME_VERSION, 'all' );
wp_enqueue_style('td-theme-child', get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/style.css', array('td-theme'), TD_THEME_VERSION . 'c', 'all' );
}
We were scratching our heads for ages until we noticed they were different from our original child theme setup.
Hope that helps people,
Hash
Hi,
There could be a conflict between plugins, please try as a test to disable all your plugins except Visual composer, clear any caching installed then check to see if the issue is still there. Also check any custom code you might have entered in theme panel, or directly to the theme files. Switch to the main theme if you are using a child theme to see if this has any effect.
Different plugins are compatible with different themes, it is just a matter of time until you find one that can cause problems. Please let us know how it goes.
Thanks
Hi,
Please check any custom code you might have added in theme panel or directly to the theme files, regarding the page container or structure. Also check if you might have entered margins or padding for the rows that you are using in the page – https://www.screencast.com/t/nBkH2TJl9Z6 and modify or remove them.
If you are using a child theme, please try and switch to the main theme and check if this fixes this issue.
At last this could also be caused by problematic plugins, you could try as a test to disable them all except Visual composer and clear any caching installed. These steps should fix this problem, or at least help identify why this is happening.
I do not know exactly how that menu plugin works, or what options it has. You can use it for the menu, or use the default theme options and settings. You can create different styles of mega menus for example
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/mega-menu/
Thanks
