Hi,
Please make sure all the elements are enabled in Visual composer settings – https://www.screencast.com/t/rdwVirs2aG3y and try again.
Thanks
Hello! 🙂
I updated my website with the latest version of Newspaper and the same for the plugins. But now there is a strange things with thumbnails, they are too small, but only when I use 2 columns on the Visual Composer.
I tried to re-generate these, de-activate/re-activate plugins… Nothing works.
See at the bottom of the home.
And when I use the same block but on 2/3 – 1/3 grid : here.
Here is the website : We Need Cafeine
Any idea?
Thank you!
Hi,
That is a parallax image, you can modify it by opening your page in Visual composer, then at the top of the page structure there should be a row – https://www.screencast.com/t/tBWNvhnB9BT with a parallax image set to it – https://www.screencast.com/t/UwcxTkoSZ and you can change it from the row settings.
Those dashed borders between blocks – https://www.screencast.com/t/WMpCoHUdg are separator elements and you can change them like this – https://www.screencast.com/t/F2OZwEdEtl or just remove them.
Thanks
Hi,
If you are having problems with the thumbnails on blocks, try deactivating all the plugins except Visual composer, and use this guide to regenerate your thumbnails – https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/ Then clear your cache and purge cdn files if you use it.
Thanks
Please disable the plugin and delete it and then activate it again as it seems the plugin is not working.
Please also disable any other plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. Then test again.
If you still cannot get it to work, please contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin so we can login and investigate. Please also provide a link to this topic so we can trace the email.
Thank you!
Hello Robert,
If you want to display the full-width your row, you should make your Row from Visual Composer to be the stretch, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/I3dQF2Cr. For more information about how you should use the Visual Composer, please consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Thanks for the message!
Hi,
Is there someway I can check that the theme updated correctly? After updating I ran the PHP compatibility checker and get incompatibility errors for visual composer and slider revolution. Here’s the notes for Visual Composer:

Hello
I have Visual Composer 5.01 on Newspaper theme. And I can’t edit blocks on the page. There is no “Edit” option in Composer, only “Drag” symbol. Never seen such sh*t before. Help me please, how to fix it? The screenshot:

Hi Catalin,
Thanks for your answer, before I put my developer on this, I would like to understand :
If I press “modifiy” on the top bar menu of a category, I see this http://www.screencast.com/t/dgvl5gt12xN9. I dont have visual composer, neither Yoast available. Same thing for the tags.
However, if I press “modify” on the top bar menu of a page. I see this http://www.screencast.com/t/SYwCGpmi13, with visual composer and Yoast available.
Regarding to you, the reason why visual composer and Yoast are not available on “modify” command, would be a wrong setting as described here : https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/ ?
Or could there be another issue somewhere else ?
1000 Thanks in advanced 🙂
I added that code and everything is up to date on the latest versions. It seems to be happening when I add a widgetized widget to the visual composer. The widgetized widget disappears in the visual composer and you can’t see it.
When clicking on an article the image shows up fine. Images on the homepage or any page where the thumbnails (automatically generated thumbs from uploaded image) are supposed to be displayed do not show up at all.
This is not an issue with “Block Settings” from the dashboard since they are all activated except “retina” (Theme Panel>Block Settings>Thumbs on Modules/Blocks). https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-theme-thumbs/
In /var/www/html/wp-content/uploads I can see that the images I’ve uploaded have all the thumbs with resolution appended on the image name (e.g. myimage-300×160.jpg)
Additional Details:

WordPress Importer 0.6.3
Hello Dolly (deleted!)
Clean install on server just a few days ago.
Keep in mind that most of the articles don’t have images yet. They are imported through wordpresses import tool. You can see the articles called “test 1” “test 2” etc.
Yes, just leaving visual composer and newspaper plugins.
I just wish the excerpt would be published on the page.
Hello,
Please update to the latest version of the theme and visual composer: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ and https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Then make sure you install PHP version 7.0
The theme is now compatible with php 7.0
Do not install 7.1 as it is not yet compatible.
Thank you!
Hello trakmaster,
Please keep in mind that the Excerpt should have to be applied on your modules used by you and also, the Subtitle will have to be under your title -> https://www.screencast.com/t/7lwBEUZweXfJ If this is not show, please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicting plugins.
Thanks for your understanding!
On creating new pages, the tools to edit ain’t there, and option the use visual composer to build the page isn’t there too.

Hello,
Sorry but our theme has no such options for the category pages. They cannot be edited through visual composer. Visual composer has no options to edit the category pages.
Thank you!
Hi,
Unfortunately Visual composer is recommended to be used only for building pages and has not been tested regarding it’s functionality on posts – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/ and may not work properly. You could check the theme’s system status and increase the parameters if required using this guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/ as this could be a cause if the settings are not being saved.
Thank you for understanding
I dont see this code define( ‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ’64M’ ); in the wp-config.php file. I added it to the config file but it still isnt changing anything in the usual composer. Could there be something else I need to add?
Hi,
The Visual composer editor plugin comes pre-activated, you do not have to activate it to be able to use it. Updates for the theme plugins – https://forum.tagdiv.com/whats-included/ will be provided along with the theme updates. Here is more information related to this – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ Also you can find all the theme documentation here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-documentation/
Thanks
Hi Catalin,
The eternal problem with the Speed Booster plugin is not how Google interprets/see the code, the problem is in the Speed Booster coding.
Please talk with your developer and look seriously a little closer to the problem because all that warnings are related with the Google fonts implemented in this plugin, “Speed Booster”.
Examples of rendering blocking and when appear:
- since I bought your theme, I remove completely any Google font and never I receive that warning; if I use your default font or any other, yes I receive warnings about render blocking.
- when featured image is disabled for posts
- when blockquote is used in comments
- when the post have too much comments (more than 200)
I hope this information arrives to your developer.
I’ve always used your theme without any other untested plugin (only Yoast Premium, Visual Composer & Speed Booster), not even WP Super Cache.
I have to say that removing the Google font, allways we had 99/100 score (both PC & mobile) into PageSpeed Insights and the site charge in 0,4 sec.
Maybe your developers will implement some default option to disable the Google fonts from the panel settings (I think we are many users that keep asking for this).
¡Thank you and best to all!
Hello bigredfro,
Please ensure that you are using the latest version of the theme and the Visual Composer which come bundled with the theme packet. Also, check your system status parameters to be according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Thanks for the message!
Hi!
We are working with Newspaper 7 and we cannot manage to keep active the visual composer (VC) for posts. We set up in the visual composer settings so it will be active for: pages/posts/mega footer but then once we edit any post with the VC once we publish or update it then it comes back to the regular editor and VC disappears..and we need to go back to the setting of the VC and reset again the permissions for pages… we are in this loop for a while now and struggling to solve it!
Thanks in advanced
Hello,
You do not have the visual composer plugin active. Please access the theme plugin section and activate visual composer: https://www.screencast.com/t/UZnOu6gDi3F
Thank you!
Hello,
Please keep in mind that I have made some tests with your image on my side and I did not saw any difference between the quality of the featured image and the regular image, sorry! Please notice that our theme only cut the image and this behavior does not affect and do not break the quality of the image and that’s why it should appear on the same quality. I suppose that you are using some plugin for optimizing your images and from this case, the quality might have to be different. Please try to disable all untested plugins, leave just Visual Composer to be active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet and rule out any conflicting plugins.
Hope this helps and let know how it goes!
