Hello,

is anyone of you redirecting the category pages to custom pages (I want my category pages to have more information besides having posts listed, thus built pages with visual composer, with additional pictures, videos and so and so forth)? If yes, you know if there is a way to replace the old url instead of just redirecting? It’s not looking that good if all my breadcrumbs show to the category url in the first place.

Thanks 🙂

Hi,

We have missed this, sorry about it, I have added this as an issue and we will make sure the VC plugin will be updated in the next theme version.
Unfortunately Radu O. is not available for now as he is in vacations but we will remediate this as soon as he gets back.

Thanks for understanding and we are sorry abut this inconvenience.

I’ve got a strange issue with the visual composer plugin.

I’ve puchached the Newspaper 4 theme and received it together with WPBakery Visual Composer v4.2.3

The Big slider thats in Visual Composer works perfect with v4.2.3

After that, i purchased the latest version of WPBakery Visual Composer (v4.3.2). When i deactivate v4.2.3 and acivated v4.3.2 the big slider is messed up. The tree blocks that used to be on the right of the big block, are nog below it.

V4.2.3 – http://gyazo.com/2a245578565ab9710cff411f7a557126
v4.3.2 – http://gyazo.com/8e765bdb03cad867dfc78e5953522bbd

Thanks again!

Hi,

I just installed Newspaper and almost have the site ready to go. I would like to use the infinite scrolling template for my home page, but none of the prepackaged templates are available in the dropdown menu. Is there a way to add these?

Thanks,

Jason

Thank you, done it and the problem is solved.

Another problem with the ‘big slider’ I’ve upgrade the wpbakery visual coposer to v4.3.2 and the ‘big slider’ is messed up since then. This is the problem:

You probably need to reinstall the plugin by uploading it via FTP from the themeforest “Newspaper” download, and replace the copy on the server; this is normal cause of that error from my own experience; meaning there is something missing or broken in the upload of the VC plugin folder.

Hello,

When i compose a new article and i click “publish” this error appears:

Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home//domains/domain.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/js_composer/include/classes/core/class-vc-base.php on line 330

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/domains/domain.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/js_composer/include/classes/core/class-vc-base.php:330) in /home/domains/domain.com/public_html/wp-admin/post.php on line 235

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /home/domains/domain.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/js_composer/include/classes/core/class-vc-base.php:330) in /home/domains/domain.com/public_html/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 1121

When i disable the WPBakery Visual Composer plugin, saving goes well. The problem is that i can’t use the Visual Composer options at that point.

Appriciate your time!

If you want to hard code the number of posts shown on a category page and not use the built in function of wordpress, you “might” be able to use visual composer for that but I’ve not done that, or you’d need to modify the category template and manually specify the loop (if you have no idea how to do that, you might need to hire a developer).

Obviously if you only want to show 10 items on the category pages, you would set that from the wordpresss > reading function you’ve already used. 20 is a common number to use, however, and works fine on most websites. Some people do less, some people do more. If your main audience is mobile, obviously 10 is a good number.

Since that function impacts the category pages, you’d then use the visual composer to layout your home page and not be impacted by the “10” settings.

In other words, easier to layout the home page with the theme features, than hack the template for the category pages.

Ok now, here’s the story:

I deleted my whole blog because still having issues. So I reinstalled everything new (had the demo running, now own build) I also thought, that Cloudflare would be the problem- but it isn’t (right now I don’t use CF)

Christopher Simmons helped me a lot- so I was able to solve a lot of things on my own.

But there are still some things I can’t handle on my own (seems like it) – and I’m on the edge of despair.

FYI my installed plugins:

tagbooster, W3 Total Cache, wpSeo, Code Embed, TinyMCE, Animated Gif Resize, Antispam Bee, Async JS and CSS, Broken Link Checker, Contact Form 7, EWW Image Optimizer, Jetpack, Query Strings Remover, WP DB-Manager, Google XML Sitemaps and the Visual Composer.

No matter what I do (installing Query Strings Remover or adding a code to the functions.php) I STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE “REMOVE QUERY STRINGS”

I really need someone to help me fix this or show me how to! I’m so helplessly I could cry over this!

I would like to start with adding content, but this makes me really desperate

The claimed files are:

Remove query strings from static resources
C (70)
88%
Content High
What does this mean?
Resources with a “?” in the URL are not cached by some proxy caching servers. Remove the query string and encode the parameters into the URL for the following resources:

http://cherrykoks.de/wp-content/plugins/contact-form-7/includes/css/styles.css?ver=4.1
http://cherrykoks.de/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/external/bootstrap/td-bootstrap.css?ver=4.1
http://cherrykoks.de/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/style.css?ver=4.1

Next one is:

Specify a cache validator
A (90)
93%
Server High
What does this mean?
The following resources are missing a cache validator. Resources that do not specify a cache validator cannot be refreshed efficiently. Specify a Last-Modified or ETag header to enable cache validation for the following resources:

http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=PT+Sans:400,700,400italic|Ubuntu:400,400italic|Open+Sans:400italic,400|Oswald:400,700|Roboto+Condensed:400italic,700italic,400,700?ver=4.1

http://gtmetrix.com/reports/cherrykoks.de/4u0OTZRR

Note: I use as fonts: Georgia and Times New Roman over the whole blog! I was reading a lot of threads with tips as “Comment them out” “delete it” and this is also not working. When I try to comment out in functions.php I get a syntax error. And to delete: I don’t know which lines, because my functions.php looks a little bit different.

The font problem also appears in :

Add Expires headers
B (89)
25%
Server High
What does this mean?
There is 1 static component without a far-future expiration date.
http://fonts.googleapis.com/css?family=PT+Sans:400,700,400italic|Ubuntu:400,400italic|Open+Sans:400italic,400|Oswald:400,700|Roboto+Condensed:400italic,700italic,400,700?ver=4.1

Page Speed Insights for example is complaining about the “above the fold” thing on mobile Devices and desktop, these are the same files- which GTMetrix claims with “remove query strings”

see here: https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=cherrykoks.de&tab=mobile

Everything else is ok for me- but how can I solve the “few” problems.

I hope there’s an angel in this forum who can save me from getting nuts.

If someone of you needs any file information, let me know. I’m glad for any help with this!

Lucian, got the update to 4.2 today but it still has the much older VC plugin version. No update. Really would like to clear my update notifications… and be up-to-date. Thanks.

Hi,

You could do this from WordPress Dashboard > Reading Settings and set the front page to display your latest post like this http://screencast.com/t/GAUbd2Op
Then go to Theme Panel > Template settings and set Module 1 for Blog and posts template like this: http://screencast.com/t/jwAMA2oAun
Another way would be to create your own page like this http://screencast.com/t/kAy8dK9tEl9
And then set it like your homepage http://screencast.com/t/nWipxn9UP

Hope this helps!
Thanks

Hi,

I have checked your site and noticed these javascript errors http://screencast.com/t/X0uHutiDCo0 on your homepage, you also have some on your post page http://screencast.com/t/MtPNDo11EU6u
These appear due to plugin conflicts and not because of the Visual Composer plugin.
Please make sure you disable all plugins except Visual Composer and see if this issue is still there, then activate then one by one to see which one it’s generating the conflict.

Thanks

Hello,
I would like to arrange the layout of the Homepage, so that it works the same way as Module 1 Category – Blog Style, as you can see in the demo.

What I am doing is trying to customize the Page associated as Homepage, but I don’t see which element to use on Visual Composer to make the post show as Blog.
What am I missing?
thank you

Unfortunately, all of the buttons and the dynamic elements on my site still do not work.
I tried to disable all plugins to discover any conflicts but nothing.

Can you help?

Hi,

I have checked your site and found this javascript error in the console http://screencast.com/t/U6PjaQPSk6Dl I believe this could be the cause of your issue and it might be due to a plugin conflict, please disable all plugins and activate them one by one and see which one is generating this issue.

Also noticed that you have set a negative margin on rows http://screencast.com/t/fnMntJXTC and these is coming from Visual Composer plugin so I’m thinking that you have set somehow the rows to be offset with 15px because when you set the rows to 0px of margin all comes back to normal.
Please check this also and let me know.
You can see yourself, just add this css in theme panel > custom css:

.wpb_row {
margin-left: 0px !important;
margin-right: 0px !important;
}

Hope this helps!
Thanks

Hi,

The Visual Composer version that was included in the last theme update(4.1) was 4.2.3 and works fine.
You can get the latest theme version from themeforest and install the 4.2.3 version of VC plugin.
We will add the VC latest version in the next theme update.

Thanks for the message

Hi,

This may be due to some plugins. Please deactivate all plugins leaving active only the WPBakery Visual Composer plugin and check to see if this issue is still present.
Please let me know if you notice anything.

Thanks

Disable the plugins that came with prior theme. Changing to a theme doesn’t deactivate the old plugins. Delete the Visual Composer plugin which came with “X Theme” and install the version which came with Newspaper.

I was testing the X Theme prior to installing Newspaper. The X backend editor is trill present when a page is edited and the VC does not appear. How can I resolve this problem?

Sorry, seems like an installation error. Works now.
