Hi,

The latest version of the theme is 8.1
https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
You can install the theme using these guides
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-wordpress/
The tagDiv composer is specific to the theme, and it will be installed and activated by default when the theme is installed
https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
The demos can be previewed here (right of the page)
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/
You can install the demo you want from the available ones
https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-demos/
Visual composer is not required anymore, you can use the tagDiv composer for page building. However it is still provided in the theme package. Please let us know if you have any further questions, and we will try to help you as soon as possible.

Thanks

Hey there,

I currently run the Gadgets Demo of Newspaper theme but have run into a few problems:

1. There seems to be some trace of LayerSlide WP from the theme (eventhough the plugin is deleted) and it is causing some errors with other plugins.

2. Guest authors using Co-author plugin. Can you please tell me where to paste the code for this plugin just for the Guest Author capability? I know the multi-author is a little more complicated but I just want to know how to integrate guest author just like any other author in theme. (where to paste the necessary code).

3. How do I update the theme without loosing all of the customizations on it? I read your tutorial but when using the envato market plugin it says the theme file already exists. Using ftp, I will loose all the customizations of the theme. Can you help?

Hello, I am still running Newsmag 2.3.6 on my current server. I want to upgrade to version 4.0 and also want to change from my current web hoster to a new one. At the new host I have already installed a clean WordPress installation and Newsmag 4.0.

What do you recommend:

a) upgrade Newsmag on the old server and then copy the content and database (via FTP) and settings (via the export/import function).

b) just migrate the content (via FTP) and export the theme settings from 2.3.6 and import them to 4.0? Is that a viable option at all?

Thanks
Andreas

Theme support is awesome.
Obviously if you didn’t try to install theme via FTP to ensure it’s in place properly, then you didn’t listen to the suggested solution. If 10,000 people can use it, and 25 can’t, often the issue is with the 25, not the rest, oddly enough.

Good luck!

Hi,

Please check the theme update guide and useful advice
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
The guide explains in detail how to update the theme by FTP. For safety please make a full backup before updating, in case of problems you can fall back to working state.

Thanks

Hi MediaServicesTagDiv,

You should disable the TD Composer if you will not use because it’s not recommended to use the both plugins altogether, sorry! Try to make this change and check the results. If it will be with no success, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so we can further inspect it closer your setup page. Also, you should provide the full FTP access and paste there the link to this topic so we can quickly identify you.

Hello dcosimo,

Notice that if you will respect all the needed steps in this regard, your them update will be successful. Also, notice that before each theme update, you should make a full backup to your database to be sure and not losing your data. For more information about our recommended way for theme installing, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/

Hello Tiger,

This value of your PHP memory should have to be okay! First of all, check the theme install if it was made via FTP way because this is the surest method in this regard. Also, if you are using such untested plugins, you should disable all of them because these might interact with the theme core files and causes a lot of unknown issues. Try using the theme at default state, clear all of your caches and check the results.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

The latest theme version is tested and it should work properly. Most probably a plugin that conflicts with the theme and you have this issue. Do you have an error in browser console?
Please deactivate all your plugins except tagdiv composer(or Visual Composer if you use it), disable any css/js minification, clear all the caches and see how it goes.
If the issue persist please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin and ftp access so we can take a closer look. Also paste a link to this topic so we can identify you.

Thanks!

Delete old theme folder.
Upload new theme via FTP.

You can’t over write existing folder with new theme folder; it’s an entirely new theme.

There is not related to back up.

I just replaced the theme folder of newmag and with the new newmage 4 site by FTP. All the images are white and not showing like in the screen shot i sent you.
Rest of the content etc is there.
How is this related to wordpress. With old theme the images are showing. Only when i replace with new newmag 4. The images go white. My site is working fine without the upgrade.
Sorry but this very much related to you new theme version 4

Thank you for the reply Catalin.

I checked our plugins and I did have to delete two that were no longer supported in our current WordPress version. All of our other plugins were in use with Newspaper 6, but just to be sure I turned off all plugins except for tagDiv Composer, tagDiv Social Counter, tagDiv Speed Booster, and WPBakery Visual Composer. When I tried to Edit a page after turning off plugins we still have no button for Visual Composer.

After I read your reply above I also deactivated, deleted and uploaded and activated these plugins, td-speed-booster.zip, td-social-counter.zip, js_composer.zip and td-composer.zip and then activated them. Then, with the plugins still off (except tagDiv Composer, tagDiv Social Counter, tagDiv Speed Booster, and WPBakery Visual Composer) I checked again and still do not have a Visual Composer button.

Here’s our Edit screen with no VC button: https://ibb.co/ecYcKv
Here are the plugins activated and deactivated while testing: https://ibb.co/bFpnma
Here’s our System Status: https://ibb.co/bG04XF

I updated http://sullivansislandmagazine.com/s/ and http://isleofpalmsmagazine.com/ from Newspaper 6 to Newspaper 8 usng these steps:

  • LIVE SITE: Use WP All in One Migration plugin Export the site
  • TEST SITE: On an empty domain I installed WordPress 4.8.1
  • TEST SITE: All plugins were deleted and I installed WP All in One Migration
  • TEST SITE: WP All in One Migration was used to Import the website to be updated
  • I downloaded the Newspaper 8 update from ThemeForest
  • TEST SITE: Newspaper 8 was uploaded via FTP, plugins were installed and activated
  • TEST SITE: All desired updates were made (new home page build, sidebar recreated, if necessary etc)
  • TEST SITE: site was checked to make sure it looked good
  • TEST SITE: Used WP All in One Migration plugin Export the site
  • LIVE SITE: Used WP All in One Migration plugin Import the site
  • LIVE SITE: WordPress was updated to 4.8.1
  • LIVE SITE: site was checked to make sure it looked good, this was when I noticed Visual Composer was not working.

I can work without Visual Composer and use TD Composer but I’d prefer to be able to use Visual Composer, especially if its supported by the theme. Any ideas?

Hello theg1819,

To be sure if you have the latest theme version you should download the theme’s packet from Theme Forest and then install it via FTP way because this is the surest method in this case, according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/ To bring the best theme results, notice that you should use only the plugins that come bundled with the theme packet.

Thanks for the message!

Hello makkis001,

Sorry for this inconvenient! Try to make a new clean install from scratch, remove the old theme version and install it from scratch via FTP way because this is the surest method in this regard. This is the only solution in this case, sorry!

Hi,

If this is not caused by a plugin, maybe you have added custom code in the theme panel, or directly to the theme files. Please check the code if that is the case. If you use a child theme switch to the main theme.
You could try a fresh theme install by FTP, and then check if the warnings are still present (make a backup before)
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
If the issue is still present please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information, so we will take a look. Maybe we can identify why this is happening.

Thanks

Hi,

The manual activation is present on Newsmag as well as Newspaper
https://www.screencast.com/t/www7y3WwJ
If this option is not present for you, try deactivating all plugins except theme plugins, clear any installed cache and check again.
Or maybe the theme did not install properly. You could try a fresh theme install by FTP
https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/
Please let us know what the results are.

Thanks

Hello masdi,

Make sure that your theme was right installed via FTP way according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ I recommend you to make a new fresh install, clear all your caches, purge CND files and check the results. Also, check the system status parameters to be according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

Please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information so we can take a look. We may need to deactivate your plugins for testing purposes. Also paste a link to this topic in your email.
Alternatively you could try a fresh theme install if possible by FTP
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
And make some tests only having theme plugins active.

Thanks

Well, if you install a ‘clean copy’ of the theme, and then it gets re-infected, then there is some malicious code on your site, or the overall site has been hacked.

Did you also remove any child theme if using one?

The version on ThemeForest is not infected.

Did you change *all* your passwords for WP, FTP, and your hosting panel?

Did you try going to an older dbase backup not infected?

We’re not having this issue on any of our sites, so not sure what to tell you beyond that.

I’m assuming you’ve done all the tutorials:

Hello beinghaseebalam,

Sorry for this inconvenient but please notice that issue does not come from our theme, sorry! Also, the WP Super Cache is fully tested with our product and it seems to work as expected, without any problem. Most likely, you are using some untested plugins which can interact with the theme core files which can cause a lot of unknown issues like this. To be sure, remove all of them and make a new clean install from scratch via FTP way and check the results.

Thanks for the message!

Catalin

Hello geny80,

First of all, to be sure, you should make a new clean install from scratch with the latest theme version via FTP way because this is the surest method in this case and then, try again and check the results. If the problem is still there, try to consult the following topic here and try to fix the first issue according to this -> https://www.wiknix.com/solved-err_empty_response-no-data-received/ Also, please check your system status to be according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/ Most likely, your PHP memory has exhausted and that’s why you cannot save anything.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thanks for your understanding!
