Hello,
Please try to install via ftp:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Make sure you meet the requirements and memory allocation though: https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
I hope this helps.
Thanks.
You do not need to purchase the theme again if you still have access to your envato account and can download the theme again at any time. You can update the theme through wordpress or ftp without using the toolkit and without another purchase.
Thank you!
Hello,
Please use one of these 2 install methods:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-wordpress/
FTP is the safest though.
Thanks.
Hello,
In case you have not managed to install the theme, please use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Thank you!
Normally you’d develop a copy of your site with new theme in a sub-domain or alt dev setup like MAMP on your hard drive and import database from server (lots of articles on web for this).
Install theme via FTP if your hosting setup has funky permissions.
Some people “switch” to new site layout by setting aside a weekend and doing changes when things are less likely to freak people out. Note all your posts won’t break choosing new theme, indexes work, etc.; so often you can switch on new theme, then work on your homepage first, then sort out the rest.
I think there is also a theme switch plugin where you can work on new layout, test, then switch back to old theme. Have not tried that.
make sure you are only uploading the main theme zip and not ‘all files’ zip.
If your hosting setup doesn’t have correct permissions, you need to install via FTP.
Install via FTP or fix your Curl setup.
Great i just contact the host providers to help me check on their end. And what to try installing it with my FTP FileZilla Client and see.
I will get back to you but any things advice.
More specific?
You need to upload the theme zip, not the ‘all files’ zip.
Also, best way to install anything with WP is FTP as it will always work; while the WP installers are dependent on your server, permissions, bandwidth, random updates at server core, etc.
Hello every time I got a lot of help from you guys. So I thank you so much.
I want to ask you one more question.
if I set the theme highlight color, the various colors are set the same.
For example the color of the main menu button and the color of footer’s contact us.
How do I set these colors apart? I also want to using FTP separately, Or using stylesheets.
I want you to give me a wise answer. I’m always thankful
Hi,
Please switch to a default wordpress theme and see if the issue is still there.
Also you can send an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin and ftp access so we can take a look, but please note that we will disable all your plugins to verify it.
If the issue appears also using a wp default theme, then it is related to your wordpress configuration.
Thanks!

Hello saucemonsters,
Try to make a new clean install from scratch via FTP way and then install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme core files and check the results. Also, if you are using some untested plugins, you should disable all of them, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and check the results. This feature has been tested with the theme and it seems to work as expected on a fresh install. Try to do this according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/
Thanks for the message!
Hi there! thanks for your reply.
So here is the checklist you gave me :
Requirements for Newspaper : got all, CHECK
System status parameters : checked, and everything was set
Install theme via FTP : actually I installed a fresh updated theme before i wrote.
Deactivated all plugins : CHECK
And these errors were still here.
As for the SSL transition : the console errors says that an ad is not working properly and the others are about the fonts that can’t be loaded in https, thanks to this theme settings.
Guys i’m stuck here, do you have any other clue about what causes these 2 errors?
Thanks
Hi,
The theme has these requirements – https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/ and modifications to be made according to this guide if it is necessary – https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
You can try to reinstall the theme using this method – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ and use only the plugins provided with the theme package, clear any caching installed and try again.
I see that you have many errors and warnings present on your website

This indicates that the transition to https was not done properly, please check these few leads that have proved to be useful to other users in this situation

Hello,
Please use this guide to update your theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
There are 3 ways to update. The ftp method is the safest.
Thank you!
Hello Jay Escobar,
Please ensure that you are using the latest version of Visual Composer which come bundled with the latest theme packet. Remove the old version and install it the latest one. If the problem is still there, I suggest you make a new clean install from scratch via FTP way and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme core files and rule out any conflicting plugins. Clear all your caches and check the results. For more information about this, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-install-via-ftp/
Thanks for your understanding!
Yes, so if you want to get VC and social counter update, simply run the updater?
There is only ONE updater needed for either version; no need to have two versions of same updater that do the same thing.
I think you miss the point, running the 7.7 to 7.81 updater will update BOTH 7.7 and 7.8 to 7.81.
It updates anything from 7.7+ to 7.81.
It’s not going to reinstall 7.7 again; only update the items which have recently changed as noted in the changelog.
Or, you could review changelog and just update the two plugins via FTP (VC and social counter).
Sorry if that confused you. Made sense to me when I looked at it.
So, not a bug. Not a ‘consistency’ issue. However TagDiv might have a better reply for you.
(( I don’t work here. ))
Ok so I took the sidebar from the category page which is working as expected with tag and category filters:
http://699.25a.myftpupload.com/category/data-centre/
And added it to the home page using the widgetised sidebar. I was using the widgetised sidebar all along to use a different sidebar to the home page in the original post.
In theory since the SAME sidebar is being used in 2 places (home page and category page) the sidebars should render the same, but they do not.
One the home page I see only 1 post tagged with rr-data. On the category page I see 2 posts, which is correct. I have 2 posts with the rr-data tag.
Why is this happening? The only difference is that the home page is using Visual Composer whereas the category page is configured to use the sidebar in question using the Theme Panel “per category settings” .

Ok now this is really weird:
I used another tag called rr-data and implemented the same side bar with a category filter on Research and Resources and tag filter just like on the home page.. It works fine as expected.
http://699.25a.myftpupload.com/category/data-centre/
Will keep digging.

So I am testing filtering on a category AND a filter on our staging website:
http://699.25a.myftpupload.com/
We are using v7.7 of the Newspaper theme and database. We are using [tagdiv] Block 18 and introducing it into a widget on the home page called Research and Resources.
The widget has the following configuration:
show 3 posts.
Filter is set to show only Research and Resource categorized posts (one category ID=10)
We are also filtering by tag-slug called:
rr-home
Here are the posts using that tag:
http://699.25a.myftpupload.com/tag/rr-home/
Note the Research and Resources sidebar on the tag page /rr-home is using a different widget with the same Block 18 and JUST filtering on the Research and Resources category without the tag filter. This works perfectly!
On the home pagem the Research and Resources widget on the right, with the tag filter for rr-home no posts appear, even though 1 post should appear — the one tagged with rr-home, namely: http://699.25a.myftpupload.com/451-research-rise-of-the-machines-part-1-has-the-labor-market-benefited-from-technology/
What am I missing here? Can’t category and tag filters be used together?
Hello meathead,
Please try to make a new clean install from scratch via FTP way with the latest version of the theme and then install the Woo commerce plugins and check the results.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello,
Installing visual composer via ftp just requires you to extract the js_composer.zip in the wp-content/plugins folder like so: https://www.screencast.com/t/R2oylqTy1
Thank you!
Hi!
I have installed the Newspaper themes. When I tried to install the Visual Composer, the FTP access is blocked by my workplace network (the website is put in my workplace server). I have enquired the web hoster and they said there is no way for them to open the server.
Could you tell me how I can install the Visual Composer manually with FTP software?
Thanks a lot!!
What have I tried but failed:
I have tried to extract the zip file “js_composer.zip”, which is located in “Newspaper-tf\plugins” in the zip file downloaded from Themeforest. I tried to put it in the regular plugin folder on FTP, but it makes the whole admin system not working.
