Hello,

We started to use Newspaper theme 9 or 10 months ago, the /upload/ folder is now 45 GB. We found out that every single thumbnail size was activated in Block setting so we have a lot of sizes for every single image.

We deactivated several of them. Then, we decided to do 2 things:

1 – Change every single post to the same template so every past article has just 1 image. My question is, Where is the post template setting saved at the database? We need to change them in bulk.

2 – Remove every single picture of the last month except the one that uses the template we are going to use. So the question is, where is the exact picture URL saved at the database?

Lastly, and most importantly, can you think a way to do this? This would be amazing for every user if we come up with a way to remove old pictures. Once they go out of home screen there is no reason to have 10 sizes of the same picture if the post is going to show just one every time for an old article.

Thank you very much!

In February 2018, Google updated its article schema document for AMP articles to require larger images in markup. Previously, the minimum requirement was 696 pixels wide and 300,000 pixels in total, but now it is 1,200 pixels wide and 800,000 pixels in total.

It appears amp pages on Newspaper use the max size of 696 pixels still for featured images, even if the original image is 1200px+.

Is there any way to change this by editing the mobile theme or amp plugin?
We are showing in many featured snippets without an image, where competitors with proper image sizes have images shown in their snippets.

Many thanks in advance

Hi,

If you go to my page here and scroll down to the bottom: https://businessbolts.com/

I’m using the 12 block which looks fine, but then some of the images are cropping and showing up as different sizes. I wish I could make it so that all the images are the same size. It seems like the theme wants to crop my images with the logos so that there’s less background space and then for some reason it makes them a different size. Is there anyway to stop this?

Thanks

Hi, after the update (9./), only one thing doesn’t work anymore.

If the WPBakery Page Builder is used to create a single image, the settings for the size of the image no longer work. It will be truncated and displayed in full size.

I mean these settings:
Enter image size (Example: “thumbnail”, “medium”, “large”, “full” or other sizes defined by theme). Alternatively enter size in pixels (Example: 200×100 (Width x Height)).

In all cases I use “full” and the pic fits to the column.

The problem used to exist, but only if the TagDiv Composer was activated in addition to the WPBakery Page Builder. Then I just turned off the TagDiv Composer and the problems were gone. Now the TagDiv Composer has to be activated additionally. What can I do now?

Thanks, genloc

Hi,

Hi,

Maybe your featured images don’t have the adequate size. In this topic I found there are some recommendations in terms of size, which Facebook recommends
https://louisem.com/3838/facebook-link-thumbnail-image-sizes
Test with bigger images if possible.

Use the debugger to see how the shared post looks
https://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-fix-facebook-incorrect-thumbnail-issue-in-wordpress/

Please make sure that you set correctly the Cloudflare (CDN) -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/
Also you can deactivate lazyload from Newspaper>Theme panel>Template Settings
https://www.screencast.com/t/zDxt8d921eG1
Let me know the results.

Thank you.

Hello,

The theme does indeed use secret to make the thumbnails needed for the different theme elements. https://www.screencast.com/t/8aquZeNHKM
Unfortunately i cannot say for sure why the srcset image sizes cannot be loaded from the cdn. We have not tested the wpengine cdn so we are not sure of the functionality used.
It seems this is not suported by wordpress by deafault as a quick google search led me here: https://github.com/2aces/wordpress-srcset-cdn
https://github.com/ResponsiveImagesCG/wp-tevko-responsive-images/issues/88

I hope this helps
Thank you!

Used Regenerate Thumbnails for Big Grid Flex 6 and Big Grid 10 and it horribly made the images far to large and cropped off for the grids. I had to turn off the thumbs, delete the thumbs and then enable them again so correct image sizes were generated.

I can’t access layout on block and images are not fitted properly, different types of image sizes, inconsistency.

How do i create latest posts with images and next page button in home page

Hello, thanks so much for your reply.

There’s indeed text description in place of each list, as you can see on the text editor: https://prnt.sc/n31q34

Only on this post it’s not working.

I have similar configuration on another post: https://www.seniberpikir.com/theme-wordpress-terbaik-untuk-personal-blogger/ and it works perfectly fine as it should.

When it worked out fine, another problem showed up when the images aligned to the left and converted into small-sized images (their sizes are actually above the content width). So I modified the smart list CSS to make the images 100% width.

After some time, the issue showed up and I’ve removed the CSS modification, cleared every cache there is, and the problem persists.

I’ve also deactivated all my plugins, used another theme and switched back to newspaper, view the result in incognito mode, and nothing’s changed.

Also, I’ve tried using other smartlists, still nothing works.

What could be wrong?

Hi there

The images that I upload to my website are incredibly pixelated. I’ve been looking through the internet for quite a while to find a solution to no avail. Here are some of the things I’ve tried

1. Compress the images
2. Download plugins that are meant to help
3. Resize them to the right sizes

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Heres my website for reference: propertyliftoff.com

Hi!

Was just wondering if there is any setting that needs to be adjusted?
Tried to use the Full Width Option with photos of different resolution, but they all appear blurry.
Sizes and Resolution include:
1950 x 1080 Max Resolution 2M
1950 x 1080 Resolution 430kb
1500 x 900 Resolution 340 kb or near about.
Also how does one use the Tag Div Center Full Width option?
Ever time I using that the image while being center aligned remains small.

Will be grateful for a little help.

I have imported many featured images from a previous non-tagDiv WordPress installation. The images have different dimensions from the dimensions used for the Newspaper theme.

My question is whether there is a setting or hack to make these photos fit in the thumbnail/preview sizes on the home page and on archive pages. Right now, they are being cropped to fit, which looks terrible.

ok i’ll leave it all for now.

I’m working on this category event https://labussolanews.com/eventi/

There is empty space at the bottom of the image “box”.

https://ibb.co/ssjwvNq

I use 4:3 images and I tried different sizes but the result is always the same, both on the desktop and on the mobile.

I asked the authors of the plugin for information and they replied:

“The space above grid layout is loading through theme, if you are also facing this then you need to set it from theme settings”

So I ask you how you can solve it from the theme settings.

thank you

Is it possible to change the sizes of the thumbnail sizes used in the mobile theme.

Namely the feature image thumbnail size, the latest article thumbnail size, and the related items thumbnail size.

I don’t wish to create a further three image sizes for every image in my site just to allow me to use the mobile theme and auto AMP.

When I upload and use my Logo its is too large. The 1920 by 1080p resolution is too large. After trying to resize the image in WordPress, I notice that the image becomes a bit dull.

I know this is a silly question, but is there any way to reduce the size of my logo, without loosing quality. The “Crispyness” is only seen at the large 1920 by 1080p resolution.

Please note that I will use photos with the proper dimensions for new posts. It’s only getting these old posts’ featured photos “backwards compatible” that I’m interested in.

Thanks for the reply.

First one I solved by changing a setting I didnt see yet.

2 Ahh Gotcha. So many options that it’s hard to test everything haha but got it working now, cheers.

Is there somewhere a list with the sizes of block images/thumbnails?

Hello, after upgrade to the latest version of Newspaper we’re having this new issue. When we add new media into galleries, one of the possible thumbnail sizes for the images is not generated, specifically 75x50px. This thumbnail is requested by IOS/iPhones and good part of our readers have this device.

When the reader tries to get the thumbnail, it doesn’t appear on the device. The system logs:

HTTP/1.0″ 404 828520 “-” “Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 11_4_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/605.1.15 (KHTML, like Gecko) Mobile/15G77 [FBAN/FBIOS;FBAV/210.0.0.37.117;FBBV/143754374;FBDV/iPhone8,4;FBMD/iPhone;FBSN/iOS;FBSV/11.4.1;FBSS/2;FBCR/I WIND;FBID/phone;FBLC/it_IT;FBOP/5;FBRV/144490433]”
151.49.222.162 – – [05/Mar/2019:14:12:57 -0600] “GET /wp-content/images/2019/03/carnevale-muggia-serenabobbo-2019-D55A1897-75x50_c.jpg

These missing thumbnails creates big problems: when the image is not found, WordPress fires up “Error 404” generating its error page. When many of the thumbnails are requested possibly in a multi-threaded way, lot of “404” sums up to the parser and since the host limits the CPU resources, it peaks up for a moment and the server restarts, kicking out users, exampe below (but we have a very long list of calls):

root 17090 0.0 0.0 4136 1496 ? S 14:27 0:00 | \_ /usr/local/1h/sbin/hive_exec 506 503 index.php
triestea 17091 38.5 1.3 396752 116020 ? R 14:27 0:00 | \_ /usr/local/php72/bin/php index.php
root 17036 0.0 0.0 4136 1280 ? S 14:26 0:00 | \_ /usr/local/1h/sbin/hive_exec 506 503 index.php
triestea 17037 8.4 1.4 370296 120632 ? R 14:26 0:00 | \_ /usr/local/php71/bin/php index.php
root 17126 0.0 0.0 4136 1492 ? S 14:27 0:00 | \_ /usr/local/1h/sbin/hive_exec 506 503 index.php
triestea 17127 22.0 1.2 381420 103916 ? R 14:27 0:00 | \_ /usr/local/php72/bin/php index.php
root 17129 0.0 0.0 4136 1500 ? S 14:27 0:00 | \_ /usr/local/1h/sbin/hive_exec 506 503 index.php

How can this urgent problem be solved? We have the ‘regenerate thumbnails’ plugin but doesn’t fix it since the requested size 75×50 is not in the list of the available thumbnail sizes.

Dear Sir,

I checked in media and see that the image were created to some sizes, which I can not find in block setting: https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/

Ex: size 436×300, 648×470, 648×377…

you can see the snapshot:

http://prntscr.com/mstv08
http://prntscr.com/mstv5n

Could I know these sizes will be used for what ?

My site: tuhocmmo.com

If they are not required, please help me to disable theme.

Thank

Hi,

I made a single post template with the tagdiv composer and I noticed the related articles block loads the thumbnails in full size, regardless of image size selected in the dropdown menu (see screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/NXp92s9). I would like to add a smaller size to be loaded here.

I cannot find the related posts block settings in td_config.php. Where can I add this custom image size to the dropdown menu? Or what other file do I need to edit to make this block load other thumbnail sizes?

I disable the lazy load from theme panel, all images are presented correctly, but all drop menus and text sizes are changed. Do I need to create them again ? What do you think ?? Thanks for the great support btw!! <3

Hi, Both screenshots show the issue http://www.westislandblog.com/newspapertheme/wp-content/uploads/2019/02/responsiveness.jpg one of the posts is cut off.

the client has a variety of sizes, some of the blocks seem to do fine with smaller images, some blocks. The block on the home page stretch them to fill the space, but somehow the blocks on the category pages do not?

HD images would be enough, for example in the imported demos we use mostly images of this size
http://prntscr.com/mnnr29
https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/
This would be enough to create the needed thumbnail sizes. You can use larger images, that will not be a problem.
