Hi,
You can create you page using any of the big grids with different styles available – https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/big-grid-1/ and the same for the blocks – https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/block-1/ Please notice that the big grids and blocks use different thumb sizes, and you could choose the ones with smaller images if that is what you want. Here is more information about the theme thumbs and modules used on blocks – https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
Thanks
Thank you for your replay. I am able to make image sizes smaller with some software. But my main purpose is that i want those images to take up less spaces on homepage. I am changing row and column settings for this purpose. however, when I do so, not only image area is shrinking, also excerpt area is getting smaller too. I want to keep the area balanced according to my view.
Thanks again…
I`m testing the Newspaper-Theme within a localhost-installation and will go online at the end of the week. I was able to configure most of the things and I am happy with the theme. But there is a question about the thumbsize of Big Grid 1 elements.
I`ve managed to edit the thumbsize (height) of Block 5 elements from 324×235 to 324×324 and it worked.
–> td_config.php:
td_api_thumb::add(‘td_324x235’,
array(
‘name’ => ‘td_324x235’,
‘width’ => 324,
‘height’ => 324,
‘crop’ => array(‘center’, ‘top’),
‘post_format_icon_size’ => ‘normal’,
‘used_on’ => array(
‘Module 3, 4, 5, 11, MX3’, ‘Block 1, 5, 6, 13, 17, 20’
),
‘no_image_path’ => td_global::$get_template_directory_uri,
)
);
Then I restarted Apache/MySQL-Services in XAMPP Control Center –> Regenerated Thumbnails with a Plugin. Block 5 elements now appear as a square on my homepage as they should.
I did the same for Big Grid 1 elements and changed them in td_config.php to 265×265 (4 small items right) and 534×534 (1 big item left).
td_api_thumb::add(‘td_265x198’,
array(
‘name’ => ‘td_265x198’,
‘width’ => 265,
‘height’ => 265,
‘crop’ => array(‘center’, ‘top’),
‘post_format_icon_size’ => ‘normal’,
‘used_on’ => array(
‘Big grid 1, 3, 7’
),
‘no_image_path’ => td_global::$get_template_directory_uri,
)
);
td_api_thumb::add(‘td_534x462’,
array(
‘name’ => ‘td_534x462’,
‘width’ => 534,
‘height’ => 534,
‘crop’ => array(‘center’, ‘top’),
‘post_format_icon_size’ => ‘normal’,
‘used_on’ => array(
‘Module 19, Module MX5, MX17’, ‘Big grid 1, 3, 4, 6, 10, 12’
),
‘no_image_path’ => td_global::$get_template_directory_uri,
)
);
Then I regenerated the thumbnails again but nothing changed in my Big Grid 1 on the homepage. The elements still have the default sizes (534×462 and 265×198).
Do I have to take further steps to change the Big Grid 1 Thumbsizes successfully?
Thanks
Hello,
I have a question about block’s image sizes. As you know that to make website speed faster, block’s image sizes on homepage should be smaller. For example, block 11 ‘s image size 218 x 150 (I wanna make it 200 x 100) block 3’s 324 x 160 ( I wanna make it 270 x 130), Big grids’ image sizes are also really large and i wanna shrink them too. Could you pls explain how to make block’s image sizes smaller on homepage? (I have no coding knowledge but i can try if it is possible to shrink images by coding easily)
Thanks !
Dears,
I would have several questions regarding the main menu of my website (www.traveleaters.com) and more specifically the logo inclusion in it.
I chose to have my logo displayed on the left part of my menu, using header style template n°7 provided in the newspaper theme, however I happen to have several issue regarding the display of the logo.
1. When on the top of the page, I can’t find a way for my logo to be larger (i.e.. be larger in pixels).I tried to upload different sizes for my image but nothing changes. If I understand it right, the space occupied by the logo on the template is defined in number of pixels. -> Do I have any ways to make my logo take more space on the page ?
2. I would like the logo of main menu to change when user scroll down on the page. For exemple instead of simply showing my logo in smaller, show only the green globe image of my logo.
Thank you in advance very much for your help,
Hello Serd,
Please check this section here -> http://screencast.com/t/p0wVxyhO4UW from your Theme panel because there you will found the sizes for our thumbs which are used in our theme. Also, please notice that if you want to bring best results in our theme you should use HD images because the theme will cut depending on your thumb used. For more information about theme thumbs, please consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
Thanks for your understanding!
Thanks as I adjusted the photo sizes accordingly.
I have a problem as I am testing putting posts as I intend to place many reviews of rehab locations. However, I inserted my first post and it automatically placed the post at the top of my rev slider and set the image as the background; thus causing the shape of the site to change.
I only want these review posts to be placed below the RehabKey Review post on the bottom of the site
Here’s a screenshot showing the images wrong sizes :http://prnt.sc/e3blg9
hi have use this theme for image site but facing problem with page speed. when i check google page speed test it shows me to optimize all my images. but my images are in medium sizes. check this http://bit.ly/2jKxZuZ .. i have an issue with all image sizes. i want to set all in same size.. on related posts it shows different sizes how can i fix that? you may check my post here http://bit.ly/2kHn4Cq i have regenerate images but can’t work for it.. and i have used in function php this code add_filter( ‘jpeg_quality’, create_function(’’, ‘return 50;’ ) ); but page speed still mess
Featured Images sizes are not correct. How do we adjust?
Thanks
Michael
New to this forum and theme, having some real initial problems with images on the store side. My images are being enlarged and look awful: http://www.ztrackmagazine.com/shop/january-february-2016-volume-22-1/
In addition, on the bottom of the page in the Related Products, I’m getting odd spacing between products.
Not having a great start here, any thoughts on these two problems I’m having?
Thanks
I have a page on my website https://goo.gl/pwpuK3 and I have added the ”Tabbed Content” with Visual Composer.
Then I made a row with 2 pieces as you can see on the page. On the left the ”single image” and on the right a text box.
My problem now is that I use logo’s of other companies and sometimes they are too small and sometimes too big. I use the image size ”thumbnail” and as you can see that looks just perfect. The problem is that I sometime upload pictures and they are too big and then it just cuts my logo that I upload to fit to the size of the thumbnail. Instead of that I would like to photoshop my own logos so it fits the sizes of a ”thumbnail”
Can somebody thus help me and tell me what sizes there thumbnails are? That way I just photoshop my images so it fits those sizes.
I took a look…
My initial thoughts… Damn! That is a big website! and I really don’t want to f it up… It’s a very good looking site and interesting too…
It appears what is slowing down your site the most is the images. About 30% of the page/post sizes is the logo which is 500kb… appearing on all your posts and pages.
After running your website at google pagespeed insights you will see a link for optimized resources for your site at the bottom. I downloaded them and the optimized logo from Google is only 10 kb. And the logo looks to be the same quality and clarity as the large size one on the site.
As you likely know bigger pages equals longer load times.
For the rest of your images, it would be good to optimize them using an image optimizer plugin such as ewww image optimizer. After that you would need to regenerate the thumbnails using regenerate thumbnails plugin for the images to display correctly. I am a bit wary in this advice though as you have many images and it will take very long.
At gtmetrix.com the site scores very low for “remove query strings from static resources”
The code I am using on my site to score 100 for this adding the code below to functions.php
function _remove_script_version( $src ){
$parts = explode( ‘?ver’, $src );
return $parts[0];
}
add_filter( ‘script_loader_src’, ‘_remove_script_version’, 15, 1 );
add_filter( ‘style_loader_src’, ‘_remove_script_version’, 15, 1 );
Your site generates a lot of requests to load… (109)
I think many of those requests are due to your site calling youtube for the thumbnails used on the videos. You should look to have the thumbnails on your website for the videos, then your site won’t have to wait for youtube to send them. I am using ARVE plugin on my site to do this, BJ Lazy Load also does this but ARVE looks better.
I highly reccommend you get a second opinion on my suggestions incase something goes wrong. How long does it take to backup such a big site?
Hope it goes well… That sandbox sounds good… If all else fail give autoptimize plugin a shot. Be advised when it works it does wonders, when it doesn’t it can cause a lot of headaches.
Good luck 🙂
In order to see any image dimension in our theme you can take a look in the thumbnail section of the theme panel:
https://www.screencast.com/t/BeOUsMiye
You can also use the browser inspector to see the sizes: https://www.screencast.com/t/jp5mTVb4JiE
Thank you!
I edited image sizes (thumbnail, medium and large size) in the media menu of WordPress.
Large size is now 990×990 since I don’t want to use any sidebar.
When I try to add a new image, in “ATTACHMENT DISPLAY SETTINGS” the large size displays the wrong size (640x ?).
How can I fix it ?
It seems to be something specific to your theme since the large image-size is correct with other themes.
Thank for your help
Is there some documentation that you can direct me to, or tutorial, that explains how to efficiently crop one image in media library so that it looks good in the different crop configurations that the Big Grids generate? For instance, If I set a featured image in a post that happens to be, say, 1200 × 1199, which I would probably not do generally, but I did . . . the different templates generates several sizes automatically. Those sizes (crop ratios) are fine, but I need to be able to control the crop so that I can make sure the image contains the proper subjects.
1. can I access these generated images somewhere (they aren’t in the media library)
2. is there a way to control the cropping for these resized images so that I can make sure key content appears for each shape of the image
3. or do I need to manually upload different sizes of images and then manually change the code?
thanks. I am new to WordPress, so maybe there is a simple solution.
Hello, dear Developers Team!
A wish for future versions of the Theme.
Sorry for my bad English but I will try to explain.
Make please option for “Generating thumbnails featured images only”.
A small example: for uploaded images only to one post of a total size of 1.5 Mbytes generated images total size of 10 megabytes.
Why generate so many thumbs with different sizes for the inner images that more will not be used anywhere?
For internal images, as I understand it, it is enough to generate a few thumbs, for example, to display the gallery.
Over 2 years of using this Great Theme preview the junk accumulated on hosting more than 3 gigabytes.
Thank you for understanding!
With respect to your work
Edward
Hi,
I have tried everything, used plugins, but the issue with image size and one article posting more than once still persist, One of the developers sent me this email.
Umm i examine to your site. You use “newspaper theme”. The Newspaper theme has some problems about image sizes.
This theme default css is that: if image bigger than layout > cover, if image smaller than layout > don’t anything.
You need custom css edit. Our plugin work greatly. But Your problem about is CSS.
The English might not be good, but you can understand what he is trying to say, let me know how we can solve this problem, I need to launch the site, but can’t due to all this little problems
Thanks
I have tried making the images in the post just a LITTLE BIT smaller and now it is back normal, but I stil don’t understand what you are saying. Can I just ask some things I don’t understand so in the future I don’t have to bother anyone with this problem. If I understand what the problem was it would be great.
So what you are saying is that the images are blurred because ”the source images size is too small”. But all the 4 images have around 718×1280 as original size so I don’t understand why the first is okay and the other 3 were blurred?
You also say to ”Make sure that the image uploaded in the Media library is of the required size”. What are the required sizes to upload a picture without being blurred then?
And as last you said”Then be sure to select the image size you want in the insert media into post” IS it bad if I just customly make the width and heigt of the pictures. Sometimes I want big and sometimes I want small so the small and medium option when I upload it is useless to me.
I did see now that making the picture a little bit higher made it HD. SO there is a minimum of width and height I have to deal with each time adding media to a post?
Hello olivervossmann,
I have inspected your website and I saw that you are using some untested plugins which can interact with the theme core files and cause a lot of unknown issues. Also, I shrink the browser and I have noticed that the image change the sizes as you can see here -> http://screencast.com/t/oirEY30rD Try to make a new clean install from scratch via FTP, without any untested plugins, clear all your caches and check the results. For more information about FTP method, please consult here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Thanks for the message!
Hi, I’m looking for a few image sizes:
a) Using full width header logo (style 9,10,11) – how many pixels are “full width”? And what height is recommended for such a logo?
b) What’s the maximum image width in a post situated in a page with sidebar? And without a sidebar?
c) What’s the maximum width of a image in a sidebar?
d) What size of a background image is preferred?
Thanks!

Hi,
I have already limited my options from here. I’ve activated only 3 thumbnail sizes from the ‘Block Settings, ‘ but it creates those sizes for all the images in a post. However, it should create those 3 sizes for the feature image that are to be used in various modules. It should not create variants of any additional image/images that I upload in the post other than feature image.
For example if i upload 4 additional images other than feature image it will create useless variants of 4 images too i.e 4 (images) x 3 (thumbs) = 12 (images). This will keep increasing the folder size in an undesired way. What is the way to stop it? I hope i am a little better in explaining this time…
I’m using ‘Easy Digital Downloads’ which has a download page. What I find are the image hight is too short which I believe is the 300 x 160 ratio How do I set a default e.g. 300 x 194 as this downloads page does not use blocks?
http://www.top10px.com/downloads/category/animals/
As you can see the images are cropped from the bottom.
Regards
Toni

Hello,
I have attempted today to try retina image generation on my theme. Unfortunately, it is not working, as in the images appear no different and seem to be using the same non-retina sizes on a clearly retina screen (rMBP 2015).
I have enabled it correctly and I have used the Regenerate Thumbnails plugin, but that didn’t help.
The size in question is a custom size that I added, 1068×600, that is going to be used on the home page (the site is not yet live). The non-retina version displays and generates correctly.
Looking at the theme’s media folder, there doesn’t appear to be any new images being created when I enable it.
Do you have any ideas for what may be the problem? Does the plugin support the retina generation?
