If you just need to setup the homepage, use the codes and guidance Alin given you on the forum and build the page using the page builder of the Visual Composer plugin. If you’re still not familiar with the theme and how to sue it I suggest you setup a testing wp install then import theme’s demo and using theme’s docs go trough its settings. Would help you in your site’s development. Sorry for delay! We answer to the most oldest topics so if you add new replies we get later to your topic.
The theme comes with some plugins that you can use if you want(you can find them in the /plugins folder from package that you downaload from themeforest), but only the Visual Composer plugin is required for the theme, the rest of them are optional. So please make sure that you install and activate Visual Composer from here – http://screencast.com/t/kndfWQPa so it must solve your code issue on front-end.
If you install the demo with content, it has some predefined articles, pages, menus to help user to make an idea about what they can achieve with the theme and how it works.

Hi I bought the theme Newsmag and I failed to see the ads created in my adsense account. put the code that gives me google but the header and sidebar even in the post only look blanks. Hi, I had a look at the new version of Newsmag v2.2, I read that there are some new features for less_files. I installed the new version is I tried to change a less_files to see if it really worked, but I realized that nothing happens, then I realized that less_files are still disabled right?
I would like to know when less_files will actually work, because my site has many changes in style css, then you should redo any changes in less_files, I worked in theme with less_files so this for me is not a problem, just let me know when I should do this “big job” to better plan everything with my team

I installed wordpress into another directory doing a clean install and uploaded 6.4 template, then installed the travel demo settings and voila it worked perfectly. No issues with wp-config, htaccess etc etc.. No server issues whatsoever..
Turns out the problem is with the script to update template from 4.3 to 6.4. Old settings in the DB?
wp options ID 41,42 (template, stylesheet) shows value of Newspaper, yet in the new DB with clean install it shows Newspaper 6.4, if I edit the old name to Newspaper 6.4 the theme breaks.
So how do we fix this? I am not skilled enough to prune out old template code…. What table, field in the DB could use a clean up?
Also..With the clean install, the WP Site URL and Home URL are a match. Currently it is not a match in the site that I’m trying to fix. https, and http are the values… although in the DB the values are both http, so where is that bogus code hiding?

This may not help, but for https be sure to add the explicit URL for your site to your wp-config.php file as it does help with a whole bunch of weirdo stuff. May have no impact on this issue, but I found it helped with our local installs.

Also double check your .htaccess file in case some legacy data there had http vs https used for redirects or whatever.
Installation of Newspaper theme on existing and working web site caused to trouble:
Photos and pictures on my site http://awd.ru are no show!
However basically I installed this topic on my test-web site http://awd.is and it worked properly in all browsers.
I just copied settings from theme’s setting pannel from test web site awd.is and just added them to my living web site http://awd.ru
No images in Google chrome, Mac
Safari – Ok
PC (Windows, Firefox, IE) – Ok

@gfran5: Unfortunately the only thing you can do is compare your modified css to the new version of the css file so you can see the difference. It doesn’t work like you suggest, with a small css file that contains just the modifications. Sometimes entire classes are changed not just code added to the file.

I just purchased the them yesterday and did the install according to the instructions. For some reason the required plugins continue to fail no matter what I’ve tried.

I tried deleting the old theme and installing the new theme (through the WordPress interface), then reactivating the child theme, but that resulted in a white (blank) site. How do I upgrade to Newspaper 6 when using a child theme with Newspaper 4?

Hi I have managed to download the tool box and it has allowed me to upgrade to version 6.4.
But it has not installed the update for the Revolution slider as it suggests should happen in the documentation.
So how do I do it?

I have re-installed the plulgin. It doesn’t work.
I also try to add different id (fb: tagdiv, twitter: envato), still doesn’t work.
I try without any plugin active except of Visual Composer and Social Counter, and clear cache, nothing happen.

Yea unfortunately that seems what I need to do.
By removing the old theme, that won’t delete my homepage block settings and stuff right? All that is saved via DB correct?
Really sucks all these wicked themes come injected with so much extra code to make it more appealing to the general audience. I understand it increases more sales, but really burdens those who only need the theme for blog site, not ecommerce, buddypress and so on.
I appreciate your support, and the great theme. I will try again this weekend with total reinstall and by adding all my edits in. Which shouldnt be that bad, we only use 2 of the post templates and the css done by you guys was so stellar that getting the look back on the site would be a breeze.
If epic fail again then looks like I need to get in touch with someone to make us a custom theme geared towards our site.

Unfortunately we’re not available for theme setup/update and other customization services, sorry!
Your update has failed as you have updated just those theme files that have not been modified by you leaving the rest as they were. It doesn’t work that way, you have to update all theme files then add your customization so you have to make sure you take note of your customizations/changes or backup the whole current theme installation as well as the database and wp install: https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups then update the theme according to our theme update guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-theme/ then add your customization back.
