I have just made a new install of the version 6 and I have a suggestion for a next update. I will leave more suggestions as a comment to this post if I find more.
When the Swedish translation is loaded: “REVIEW OVERVIEW –> ÖVERSYN ÖVERSIKT”. This means “Vie View (as in seeing from above and view when standing in a high place). It should be instead “RECENSERA ÖVERSIKT”.
Hope you include this adjust in the next update 🙂

After the update run the script included in the Welcome panel – http://screencast.com/t/eZxxuqvsTir running the script it will import old settings, change the shortcode like you can see in the documentation. The theme has more features(example- big grid on categories, smartsidebar) so you will have to set those mannually. Also the custom css may not work at this it should be regarded as a new theme(changed classes, ids).

First of all, im very happy whit V6, i made a clean install and set Video style for my site. Everything works like a charm. But now Webmaster tools its showing errors on Structured data.
What can i do? i dont like errors on webmaster tools 🙁
The best way its make a clean install and configure again your site. This is the only thing you can do to avoid problems

this is nonsense. Also major version updates have to work without changing the whole site manually. You might not
benefit from new features without changing something, but the site must not be broken!
Also, there must be no obligation to delete and install something in a specific order, in order to get things working.
And it must not be necessary to switch the theme to the default one in order to upgrade the VC settings which otherwise are producing an error.
Sorry, but the code just has to take care of that stuff. In good programming.

I love this theme, one of the best I have used in 10 years publishing WordPress sites. However, it is unusable on mobile – it take minutes to load – as much as 5 minutes.
I am at a loss to understand why. It loads on desktops and tablets fast, but mobile is useless. My only option is to figure out why or abandon the theme in favor of a better designed responsive theme.

Hi!
Just downloaded the new update. I made a new database and installed it on a new local server address (XAMPP). After I installed the theme and imported the theme settings from an existing Newspaper 4 website (also running on XAMPP) a lot of things worked bad.
The WP admin panel has a broken design and I have two errors:
“Please update your [tagDiv social counter] Plugin!”
“Hi! Would you like to activate your version of Revolution Slider to receive automatic updates & get premium support? This is optional and not needed if the slider came bundled with a theme.”
Not only I cannot get rid of these but as well there are no more updates available. Also, the Revolutions Slider is already activated!
I also get the following error on when viewing the website:
“wp booster error:
Please update your [tagDiv social counter] Plugin!” – I already did this.
So, what to do? I seriously love the Newspaper 4, wonder if it is really worth the trouble of upgrading? Can someone help me out with a solution for all these issues?

probably it’s right…it is not mature. also with a clear installation from zero is not working.
no way. tried everything but all pages are simply empty. Deleted old theme and installed new one….just update…via ftp…via wordpress…always the same result.
why this problem? anyone else? do i need to revert back to old version 4 and forget 6?

Hi,
I have just installed my newspaper template and added a page to a menu. When I thereafter click on the menu I receive the following error, se below. Any body who have had the same problem?

Unless you had a very customized site using V4, I do not understand what is so bad about the new version.
All I had to do was to enable maintenance mode on my site (you can use a plugin), activate another theme so you can delete v4. Then upload and activate the new v6. I received an error about Social Media counter being out of date so I uninstalled the old version and installed the new one provided by the theme. Then, I customized the home page and the sidebar. It was pretty easy to me since I do not have a lot of modifications going on. It took me a long time to customize the font size since text is very small be default.

in the meantime, we found out what is the problem – mixed content. We have SSL implemented, and driving HTTPS at our site, but, this mentioned external JS is HTTP. In these days, usually blocked by browser by default. So, we have another problem. We are using plugin WP Force SSL (Version 1.2.1 | By Kostas Vrouvas) for HTTPS redirection. Also, we are using plugin WP Insert Code (Version 1.0 | By AntonAKH) just to insert this specific external JS into footer. We tried to install SSL Insecure Content Fixer plugin or similar, but, still we have the same message in browsers and mixed content is blocked by default…

But the slider of the first page is too small (I think that the theme is bigger than before).

I sometimes answer sardonically ahead of the official answer, which might be the same but worded differently (as was this case!).
Sadly there is no ‘one way’ to optimize anything with WordPress — as the theme itself needs a little tweaking as with ALL themes (seriously, want to hear about my fun with Canvas or MyThemeShop, ThemeFuse, etc.?).
Most of MY particular tweaks have to do with “baseline” things needed for ANY website/wordpress install -regardless of theme (I am working on an ebook on this topic in my hahahahahah spare time… no really…. someday….).
Theme tweaks are really just setting up site how you want it; and then more recently the pesky Visual Composer stuff (hence the shim of doom, er … solution).
Technically theme doesn’t need any special optimization vs any other site of comparable complexity, but your mileage may vary as I am wont to say.
I will post the cheat sheet on how to load Google Fonts more better good too one of these blue moons. The old method for Newspaper 2 I posted a bazillion years ago sure won’t work now !

Yeah I have been seeing all the issues. Luckily I haven’t had the theme on my main site yet. I’ve been playing with v4 on my test site. It seems most of the issues are due to people upgrading from v4 to v6 and not from clean install.
I’ll possibly test v6 on a clean install test site and see how it does
I’ve just uploaded the new Newspaper 6. Seems to offer a lot of new possibilities but also changes seem sommetimes not to be automatically adapted to newspaper 4
How can I uninstall the v2.0 – Old version of speed booster ? Is there automatically a new on installed or needed to be install?
