Regarding the possibility of installing VC 4.3.5: I’ve read it’s not compatible with yoast SEO. Plus, are there some different short codes from 4.4.2 and 4.3.5?
Also, want to know, my website has a good traffic, but less than 1000 articles and only about 10 pages. I’ve used VC elements only on pages (homepage included). This reduces the possibility that I will face CPU problems?
From what I read, I can’t use shim version as I’ve custom CSS added to pages and several VC short codes.
Lucian,
Thank you very much for all the reading material. I spent the better portion of today deleting all old databases, wordpress and other CMS system directories, etc. just to tighten down the security of my server. There was a lot of house cleaning that needed to be done.
Once I cleaned everything up, I re-installed WP and the theme, and the ajax issues just went away.
I’ve also installed some extra security plug-ins, check the directory permissions, added stronger passwords to the accounts and am finishing up some other security audits. Thanks once again!
Just did a fresh install on my site, starting from scratch to avoid what may have been some security issues before. I’m making a concerted effort to secure and optimize the site before adding any content or doing any major customizations.
I’m using the guide here to try and improve page speed: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
Under section 4. Remove render blocking css/js – using the TagDiv Speed Boosterplugin (Advanced Users) I’m running into some issues.
1. I’ve installed the Speed Booster plug-in and activated it.
2. I’ve copied and pasted the suggested code into very bottom of NewsMag’s functions.php file (there’s another functions.php that the guide is talking about, is there?) and saved.
3. I’ve copy/pasted the output at the top of the page into a text file, which reads:

4. Deleted the code from step 2, then saved.
5. Re-ran the Google Test and it spat out the following results:
Remove render-blocking JavaScript:

http://madlymanly.com/wp-content/themes/Newsmag/style.css?ver=1.7.1
6. When I went back to output from what I did in step 3 above, I didn’t notice any corresponding file names for the issues that needed to be fixed. For instance, in the Google report, it suggests jquery files, but when you search the code section of step 3, I couldn’t find anything that said “jquery”. Same thing for css like “Roboto”.
I noticed in the code comments within the Booster plug-in that it looks like it is still being tested on NewsMag:
/**
* Move the style only on newspaper
* @todo move the style also on newsmag after we fix all the issues
*/
Thoughts? Thank you for the help!
Hi,
I’ve checked your site and found that the syntax error that appears in your site’s console is because this div which appears in your page source and which shouldn’t have to be there: http://screencast.com/t/lrNX1IJ0pn1
You should try to disable all plugins first, empty all caches, purge files if you use CDN host then check again. If it’s still there then you should try a fresh theme and WordPress install and see how it goers.
I’ve haven’t dealed with an similar situation before but as I’ve made some research on this I’ve found that this could mean that your site could be hacked, according to this tread form WordPress support and other statements I’ve found related to this: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/hidden-links-please-help-with-removal
You can try the resources offered there and the suggestions and introductions provided there.

Hi,
After you Install the Demo Data you can Import the Predefined Styles(stacks): http://screencast.com/t/Lc6Dho2jdh – http://screencast.com/t/pumXbxmy3u Please note that if you activate a stack, it will import only settings like fonts, colors…
You have to create an homepage and add elements from Visual Composer(something similar like tech homepage and choose page template) – http://screencast.com/t/ltu9s7WuUXlw go to the block settings and choose filter articles, sort order, pagination.. – http://screencast.com/t/4Lsdy5hlnD – http://screencast.com/t/1sMtJn7k71n8
Also I see that now you use blog…you have to change to a static frontpage from Settings – http://screencast.com/t/nU4WTpuLTPp
Please also check our documentation and let me know if you have issues related to the theme – https://forum.tagdiv.com/newspaper-documentation/
Thanks!
Hi,
I’m writing in to check on a conflict that surfaced when I installed both News SEO & BBPress plugins. Apparently the message “Warning: in_array() expects parameter 2 to be array, null given in /home/(url name)/public_html/wp-content/plugins/bbpress/includes/common/functions.php on line 1446” came out on the front and back end of the website. Can I check if the theme has any effect on it?
Thanks!
I don’t know a lot about Joomla but it doesn’t matter much which is superior, matters which one lets you make something superior. There’s more than the car, there’s also the driver and that’s why you are here trying to learn how to drive wordpress. I’m not defending wordpress over joomla, I just don’t want to say that something is worst when in reality I don’t even know it that well.
About images and thumbnails, yes they can get messy. If you don’t want image resizing (thumb generation) just go to options and set the sizes of thumbnails to 0x0 (zero), voilá, no more image generation. This has the downside of making your visitors download the original images all the time, even if all they are seeing is a thumbnail of them. Making thumbnails will create an image of 2KB to show a 100×65 thumbnail but people are free to serve a 70KB 700×357 image that will be displayed 100×65 anyway, downsized only pixel-wise and not KB-wise.
One thing though: You’ll see 3 thumbnail sizes in WP options but that doesn’t mean that your WP makes only 3 thumb regens, if some plugin or theme registers a new size, that new size will be created and you won’t see it in the options. Woocommerce “installs” 3 thumb sizes regenerations for example, and bam! suddenly you have 10000+ images in your media folder because every upload will be multiplied 6 or more times!
In that regard, this theme could get a bit of optimization. This theme is very beautiful but has lots of blocks, sliders, galleries and what not. So this theme registers a boatload of thumb sizes regens to fit all those blocks. After a while I figured out which blocks and sliders I prefer to use and those I don’t and so I commented out all those thumb regens I don’t use. This should be done, if possible, before running a plugin like thumbnail regeneration or all thumb sizes registered will be regenerated.
PS: support is always answering questions at the forum (during work time ofc, shown top right) but you can try e-mail, they are quick to respond, I wasn’t even their client yet and they answered pretty quick.

First of all, I have to give you the thanks, Chris. I installed the plugin Regenerate Thumbnails. It didn’t work, but I need to tell you that you are the first person that give me an advise about WordPress and I really appreciate that.
I come from the HTML hand code, Dreamweaver, graphic design and Joomla platforms and those are other worlds. All of this series of problems that I have with WordPress is solved by just one marvelous and free component in Joomla, which I repeat is far superior than WordPress. But I know that as this is the first time that I am trying to use this platform, I have a long way to run and to learn and people like you are a real blessing from God. Again, thanks so much for your answer. I’ve seen in this forum, which I started checking today because of this problem, and I saw that you have helped many people here. And you don’t do that because of you, but because the grace that God put into you. Be so much blessed you and your family.
My email is: info@lfstudio.com and my website is LFStudio.com I will try to continue looking for the solution to this situation.
Thanks, again.
You need to regenerate thumbnails for your site once theme is installed to generate all the various sizes for the blocks/modules. You should not use the demo data for a live or real website, only for testing or client demo (speaking as a 20 year webdev myself).
You can of course simply upload images via FTP if you don’t plan to use them as ‘featured’ images — for ‘featured’ images you generally need to upload those via the media manager or use a third party solution/plugin (e.g., bulk uploader to media manager).
Or combo of FTP upload with plugin to move to media manager, e.g.,
http://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/bulk-upload-files-to-wordpress-media-library-using-ftp/
For questions about how to use WORDPRESS — which is not part of the theme — you should of course check the millions of pages of help on the web via Google, and of course the WordPress CODEX .. often you can do searches like “image upload wordpress codex” to find help quickly.
You can change the default upload directory, and you can turn off the upload by /month/day/ options easily.
Obviously you should expect the TagDiv support folk to educate you on how the basics of WordPress actually works — only elements related to using the theme. Image uploading is part of WordPress and not a “theme” function, per se.
I don’t work here – so just some feedback while you wait for official reply 🙂
Hi TagDiv.
First of all, you have a very good theme.
It’s certainly true that WordPress powers the 21% of the websites of the whole Internet, and Joomla does the 10% of it. Despite of it, the level of organization, professionalism, freedom to do the things in a very correct and precise way that you have in Joomla, it does not exist or apply in WordPress, because it was created to be easy all the time. Anyway, in some way or another, I decided to create a blog using WordPress, so I bought your Newspaper theme, installed it, and started configuring the different elements.
My problems are these…
01- All the images in the homepage disappeared in the demo. If I click to any post (article) they show on that post.
02- Other thing, is there some way that I can have a special folder in which to handle ALL my media files in an organized way and not having to use the Upload button all the time? Also, I discovered another disgrace in WordPress and is the autogeneration of thumbnails. Professional designers prefer to have the control, not to have WordPress have it for you.
I think that there might be some ways in order to make it work in that way and get rid of the Upload Media. By the way, trying to solve that situation I already bought two other plugins which are WP Edit Pro (which is an editor) with a bonus called “WP Edit Pro File Manager” and WP Media Folder. They both are used to “fix” the damn problem that WordPress has about dealing with the images. Standard WordPress users don’t mind about organization, but professional web designers do.
Please, I need your help concerning this topic. How can I contact your direct support and not just the forum?
Hi!
It seemed that someone had been uploading lots of images and there were not enough web space ^^U
However, I made a clean install and regenerate thumbnails in order to clean up the mess with thousands (4815!) of useless images. Everything works perfectly since then.
I appreciate so much your help 🙂
Regards!
Lara.
I believe it’s something in your end, your installation of chrome. Chrome has a lot of bugs regarding font rendering, some bugs are still around since 2011.
Try enabling/disable DirectWrite
1. Open Google Chrome
2. Open a new tab and enter the following in the address bar: chrome://flags/#disable-direct-write
3. Click “enable” to enable this switch, disabling the use of Microsoft DirectWrite by Google Chrome.
4. Close and re-open Chrome.
Check if you have PT Sans installed, it might be trying to install it and failing. Chrome on win7 with office 2007 or 2010 has some font bugs appear in chrome, also in the Gill Sans font.
I’m also using the Gethub Envato plug-in and have set it up per the instructions Emil posted above. No problems so far, thanks for the tip! As for the Visual Composer plug-in update that comes inside of the package, it never automatically installs the latest version of plug-in, even if you’re using the Gethub solution, correct? Or is there a way to automatically have the updater also update the VC plugin at the same time it does the theme? Thanks!
Note: I apologize if this was posted in the wrong section, as I have the Newsmag theme installed, not the Newspaper (where this forum thread was started). Sorry for any confusion this may have caused!
Did you bother to do the optimizations for YOUR SITE which must be done — ?
No theme can optimize your web server, WordPress install, etc. It’s only designed to be optimized for what the theme does, but YOU still have to properly optimize your site.
a) note the sticky post top of the forum on how to optimize your site/server
>> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/tutorial-chriss-custom-optimizations-for-functions-php-etc/
b) note the theme docs (link right side of page) for how to speed up your site and what was done to make the demo so fast (e.g., caching, etc.).
WordPress is managed on your end as are all your server settings, htaccess settings, etc.
This is necessary regardless of the theme you use!
Hope that helped 🙂
(( I don’t work here just use the themes for our network, so pretty savvy! ))

UPDATE: Fixed.
Had to manually install the plugins (the ones supplied with the plugin) via FTP.
Cheers
after install version 2.10 the site become white page ..
any advice ?
Hello,
Mainly we bought this theme for the optimization and loading speed.
But after installing the result is very poor, PageSpeed shows 63/100 in mobiles, very different than what shows its demo 95/100.
Install the “demo data” and don’t show the images properly.
We are very disappointed with the purchase, any solution? or I can request a refund?
Hi,
I just purchased Newsmag and right after installing the theme, I get Error 503. I’m able to change themes via FTP and that brings back the site, but otherwise I’m not even able to access the back-end.
Any suggestions as to how I can fix this? Thanks in advance.
Hi
after install the theme ( 4 month ago ) i got this problem . but its got worse day after day .
any advice ?
That is probably a widget … so you have to add it to a ‘widget area’ or shortcode for that plugin.
So either create a widget area first, or add to a custom sidebar for home page (like I do for the weather widget). You add widgets to sidebars in appearance > widgets.
The plugin doesn’t add a Visual Composer “element.”

@gfran5
Be sure to update this also once you have 4.3.5 installed (I didn’t try that .. doh).
Curious how NM1.71 and VC435 work together. In fact, not sure anybody in this thread has actually tried that (not that you should worry it won’t work or anything).
-Chris
you need to Increase server memory to 64MB .. i get same problem first time install the theme.
Hi there
i want add this pools to homepage . but after install it i did not find it in the Visual Composer .?
How to add it there ?
