Hello!
It seems you have installed Mobile theme plugin, then your pages will be overwritten by the plugin.
The Mobile Theme is a performance optimized theme included in the Newspaper main theme and it loads only for mobile devices. It comes with it’s own templates for page, post, category, etc so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout. For more details, please take a look here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
If you want to display the responsive version on your mobile exactly like on desktop design, then you need to uninstall Mobile Theme plugin.
Thank you!
Hi all 🙂 I need help to optimize the SEO of my site created with Newspaper.
Newspaper automatically integrates Hn titles (h2, h3, h4) on certain elements of the pages. But this is not always perfectly optimized unfortunately!
Example (https://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2020/51/2/1608028428-articles-bas-page-jpg.jpg), I use Cloud Templates editor for my posts template (single), and I use “Block 3” element to display similar posts, and each post title is “H3”, I don’t want to display it in H3, juste simple text (span ou p). The “Custom title” is H4, instead of span ou p.
Other problem with “Flex Block 1”, for “Title tag (SEO)” we have 4 choice : H1, H2, H3 or H4, I want p or span (see : https://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2020/51/2/1608028687-capture-d-ecran-2020-12-15-a-11-37-59.jpg) and all titles posts are H3, we can’t change that.
What I would like is to be able to keep the styles proposed by Newspaper for titles and subtitles, but keeping my hand on the Hn tags.
Thanks for help
Hi @patrick93
1. Yes, I am using Imagify on some of my and my client’s websites. It is very useful if you have multiple authors and publish multiple stories a day. If you have a single author and have a good knowledge of Photoshop, I recommend using Photoshop to optimize images and make them progressive before you upload them on your server.
2. Yes, if you have local traffic, then there is no need to use Cloudflare. I believe having a Cloudflare free plan in combination with a premium hosting provider is a bad idea.
7. Unfortunately, you can not overwrite mobile theme files using a child theme. You can find style.css file for mobile under /wp-content/plugins/td-composer/mobile/style.css
Tip: If you have the same modified CSS code for both mobile and desktop versions, you can add it to Live CSS. You will not lose this on every Newspaper theme’s update.
I hope you will find this helpful.
Hello,
I have optimized my website and seem to be getting problems with the following pages on mobile.
https://fightersvault.com/muay-thai-shin-guards/
https://fightersvault.com/ultimate-guide-pick-the-best-bjj-gi-for-beginners/
https://fightersvault.com/best-mma-gloves-for-beginners/
On mobile, the following pages will not load.
All of the above pages load quickly on desktop.
The bar at the top stays halfway and doesn’t move. It’s just these pages on my site.
Can you see what the issue is?
Many Thanks,
Gareth
Hello!
From what you describe it seems you have installed Mobile theme plugin. If you created the mobile pages with TagDiv Composer, then when you install Mobile Theme plugin, your pages will be overwritten by the plugin.
The Mobile Theme is a performance optimized theme included in the Newspaper main theme and it loads only for mobile devices. It comes with it’s own templates for page, post, category, etc so your current templates from the desktop theme will get converted to the mobile theme layout. Hi thoughtful, the Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) is a element from pages speed, what you can improve it is to optimize the website, for the moment we do not have a guide that can reduce these elements, but for the moment we know that using sticky sidebar and menu will increase the LCP and CLS, if you remove these you’ll improve the pages speed. Also there can be some extra plugins or code that can provide this problem.
Please check the answer from those topics:
-> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/to-high-cumulative-layout-shift-in-mobile-theme/
-> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/remove-cls-cumulative-layout-shift-from-html-element/
-> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/to-high-cumulative-layout-shift-in-mobile-theme/
Those are solutions that we tried to provide for Newspaper, it should work for Newsmag too.
Thank you!
Hi,
If you are using the mobile theme plugin, you must use the cache settings as in our guide from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/ also for Autoptimize I do not know the right settings that need to be made to not interfere with the other cache plugin.
Thank you!
Dear Tagdiv support,
hope you’re well and healthy!
Unfortunately, today, after autoupdating the WP version to 5.6, the following content disappeared at frontend:
1) all the images inside EVERY post
2) all the thumbnails of EVERY post (also videoposts).
3) the background image.
4) In addition, the main menu bar was not fixed anymore at the top while scrolling down.
After restoring the previous WP version 5.5.3, fortunately all the images re-appeared again (and the menu bar was fixed again).
Some info on the plugins installed:
a) almost every plugin updated, except for Newspaper theme 10.3.2 (instead of 10.3.9);
b) other plugins:
Auto Image Attributes From Filename With Bulk Updater – active at last version
Media File Renamer – deactivated but updated at last version
Regenerate Thumbnails Advanced – deactivated but updated at last version
ShortPixel Image Optimizer – deactivated but updated at last version
Please find a screenshot attached of how the thumbnails appeared.
Please, if you think it’s needed to update Newspaper to 10.3.9 to avoid this issue (Wodrpress will autoupdate in 48 hours) can you handle the Newspaper update?
Thanks and regards!
Angelo
I am currently using the TagDiv mobile theme plugin to produce a mobile version of my website. However, I’ve noticed that after a few hours the non-mobile version of the site is loaded on mobile devices. After I clear all caches, the mobile version is served again (as it should be).
Why is this the case and how can I prevent this from happening? I suspect that it may be related to the caching plugins that I am using (WP Super Cache and Autoptimize set up according to TagDiv specifications).
Is the TagDiv mobile theme plugin compatible with caching?
Thank you for your time.
Hi, the option you indicated in the screenshot in my menu is already disabled. I believe the problem lies elsewhere. Also, how to do the re-optimization? You say we need to re-optimize but I don’t know how to do it.
Thanks!
Hello, @gumball44
1.) Have you ever tested WP Fastest Cache? What is your experience with it? Especially compared to WP Super Cache.
I have never used WP fastest Cache plugin. I believe the fonts flash you are seeing is because of this plugin. I will suggest using WP Rocket plugin or WP Super cache plugin + Autoptimize Or Fast Velocity Minify.
For me WP Rocket working really well with these settings: https://www.infophilic.com/wp-rocket-settings-cloudflare/
2.) You say that Cloudflare can be used. Is the free version useful here too?
Yes, Cloudflare can be useful when you configure it correctly. For the blog site, free version is enough. But if you want more speed, then upgrading to PRO is a good choice.
3.) What is your experience with Gzip? Is it possible that Newspaper-Theme does not work with GZIP?
Yes, I am using GZIP with a Newspaper theme, and it works without any issue.
4.) By activating plugins my database has grown a lot. In my database there is a lot of data about plugins which I don’t use anymore. Does a large database damage the loading speed?
Definitely, having large options table in database affects site loading speed. You can consider using WP Sweep plugin to keep your site’s database clean. You can also reduce size of tables by removing Orphans options from tables.
5.) A question about the part “Removing Font Awesome”. With the code snippet only the essential icons are loaded. But which icons are essential? All the ones I select in the theme?
This is no more part of Newspaper theme optimization.
6.) You write that there is also a funcion.php for the mobile theme.
Is it possible to overwrite it with a child theme or do you have to add new entries after every update?
For example: Removing Emojis, Removing Font Awesome, or Preload Newspaper fonts.
Unfortunately, you can not overwrite mobile theme’s functions.php file using child theme. Hope, tagDiv team will fix this soon.
7.) There are several ways to add custom CSS. Where do you think it makes the most sense? In the Theme panel under Custom Code? Or rather under WordPress Design > Customizer?
Well, that is completely your choice. Adding CSS in theme panel or customizer will add it as inline CSS code on page. I prefer adding them to child theme’s style.css.
I hope you will find this helpful.
Hi Lacasito70, sorry that is take so long until you get a reply!
Usually the ” zoom effect” appears when you enable this option on cloud header -> https://i.imgur.com/FZa9dpa.png
Also you need to re-optimize the website for the actually changes that you’ve made when you changed the theme, in this way the new changes will be optimize.
Thank you!

Hi Robert Turner, this problem appear when google added the Largest Contentful Paint (LCP) and Cumulative Layout Shift(CLS), the problem is that if we are make now changes in standard post templates to prevent this problem then at he structure of standard post templates will change and all website that use a standard template will no longer work and will need to be rebuild, that is way our developers didn’t made any changes to the standard pack until now. using standard pack will be load more resources that is need.
That is way we recommend to use a pro demo, is no need to install a different demo, you can simple get the cloud templates from cloud library and set theme in theme panel.
Also the website performance is not only about the the standard pack or cloud template, is about content ads, external resources …
For the moment the only solution without changing the standard templates is to try to optimize your website as good as you can.

The CPU Time Ussage on my hosting plan is usually always over . . . and the Account Executions is double.
Is there something on newspaper theme that needs to be optimized to help with that?
I just deleted a bunch of unnecessary files on my cpanel, deleted about 5 un-needed plugins on the site backend.
Any other help is appreciated.
I purchased the Newsletter theme on Monday hoping that it would speed up my website, https://www.immunofrontiers.com, relative to my other, more outdated theme. However, my pages are now loading more slowly, and this is having an impact on my Google rankings. I would appreciate any insight regarding how I could speed up my website with the Newsletter theme.
Google Page Speed Insights shows “reduce initial server response time” to be slowing the website considerably. I have tried to correct this using a number of methods but am still showing the problem. Thank you for your time and insight.
Current methods used:
-CDN (cloudflare)
-Autoptimize (JS aggregated, CSS aggregated, image lazy load)
-Async JavaScript (async javascript active)
-WP Super Cache (set up according to TagDiv specifications)
-Hummingbird (asset optimization)
-GZIP compression
-expires headers
-images compressed before uploading to between 10 and 80 kB each
The TagDiv mobile theme is currently active on my site. I am not able to use AMP for external reasons.
Same issue here. I had the plugin Autoptimize installed, and by deactivating the plugin it works here with images.

Yes I agree, the server I described is, politely said, overpowered for running a site on it unless you’re loaded with visitors. In addition, all images are heavily optimized and compressed, no external content being loaded (we tested this during the load tests we did).
Do you have any guide to roll back? I just wanna make sure nothing gets destroyed when doing so, since that’d be obviously the worst case and something every webmaster needs to avoid.

Fkvs, You can put it on a rocketship, it isn’t going to make the slightest difference, trust me, we have tried pretty much everything. It’s a scripting issue that arose with 10.3.8 and they still haven’t resolved it. It simply kills the page load speed when the page is served and you can minify all you like, move things to the footer, it still sucks.
Some of our pages, the front page included are now taking between 5 and 9s to render, depending on how we optimize. It’s an issue Tagdiv needs to resolve and they’ll have to backtrack to see what they did in the November update that stuffed things up. A solution is possibly trying to roll back to release 10.3.7 but that also now has issues thanks to Woocommerce.
I am also experiencing a massive slow down site-wide since the November update. My site flipped overnight to all our pages failing on Google console, all thanks to the upgrade. This is clearly a development issue on your end guys, please fix it. It’s unfair to expect your customers to resolve this with workarounds and the new update hasn’t addressed it, in fact, it now seems worse.
We have a large site running on Newspaper and we are going to be seriously pissed if we have to take it down to change templates.
How long is this going to take to resolve as it is affecting our rankings on Google and I am sure many of your other customers are wasting time trying to resolve it. Clearly, it’s a known issue you should be advising customers about.
Sorry, but I am seriously pissed off at this point. We have wasted hours trying to optimize code to resolve this. Please let me know when you expect this to be fixed.
