Thanks for that. Can’t believe I forgot about the block settings. However, I turned off the thumbnail for the size I wanted the full image to replace, then I regenerated the thumbnails, but the full size image still won’t appear in the thumbnail’s place–I get an image placeholder that reads “Enable thumb from Theme Panel –> Block Settings”. I also deleted the cache and nothing seems to work.
When I inspect the code, it looks like the site is still trying to pull the thumbnail instead of using the full image.
EDIT: So, when I switched back on the thumb on block setting, the full image appeared in place of the thumb. Because I’m certain I’ll be regenerating thumbnails frequently (still building the site), I went ahead and altered the size of that particular generated thumbnail in the td_config.php file. My question about that is this: I’m using a child theme, but edited the parent version of the td_config.php file–how should I go about setting it up so that my changes don’t get wiped out upon theme update? Should I place a copy of the td_config.php file in my Child theme folder? Thanks!

Hello jmwebguy,
Please notice that the each thumbnail display a featured image which is set for that post, right? So, if the featured image is not set, you will get the empty placeholder which looks like this -> http://screencast.com/t/WDdGJQSqg Please notice that all you can do is to change that empty placeholder with the desired image and it will appear every time when you do not have the feature image. If you want to change this empty placeholder with yours desired image you will have to replace all of these images with this -> http://screencast.com/t/a697JG3cTc
If you refer to something else, please provide more details so I will be able to provide a more accurate response.
Thanks for your understanding!

No way … I can’t see any photos..
HELLLPPPP!!!
“when a post doesn’t have a featured image set, the theme will load a placeholder image”
NO WORK!
Hi there,
On the search results page, there seems to be an error displaying pages without an image or thumbnail assigned: http://bestforcats.co.uk/?s=Newsletter
The placeholder image appears, but the error seems to interfere with this. Is there any way around this?
Thanks!
How about this, the ad company believes they located the ad code im looking for in the Block1 section of our website. Now, when I go to the top of our main and click the “edit page” option ..I found both block 2 and block 3 areas but not block 1… Where typically would you find block1 in the newspaper theme?
Also sorry for any confusion, but I also am very confused… What I meant in my previous post the other day was, when I go to the WordPress Theme Panel > Ads > Custom ad 3, the code seen below is whats currently in that area.
<!– Ezoic – Sidebar 3 – sidebar –><div id=”ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-104″>
<script async src=”//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js”></script>
<!– below all/ tna/wwe news –>
<ins class=”adsbygoogle”
style=”display:block”
data-ad-client=”ca-pub-4793404262316174″
data-ad-slot=”3674627237″
data-ad-format=”auto”></ins>
<script>
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
</script>
</div>
<!– End Ezoic – Sidebar 3 – sidebar –>
Now, why wouldn’t the code seen above here ^^^ that’s currently in our Theme Panel > Ads > Custom ad 3 also match this code seen below in the imgur image? My guess is that the following code (<script async src=”//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js”></script>) been inserted somewhere else in our website (same google code though) and thats why Theme Panel > Ads > Custom ad 3 does not match the code seen below.
This ad company keeps telling me it’s not the same ad.. because when I edit the “custom area 3” section of our themepanel, I am told I was unsuccessful in wrapping the Ezoic ad code around that existing ad.
Furthermore if these ad codes were the same then the code seen below in the imgur image would look the same as the one I pasted below (found currently in the custom area 3 themepanel section)
This ad below is the code I’m searching for:
The code you’re referring to in our custom three are of the themepanel > ad area is the following:
<!– Ezoic – Sidebar 3 – sidebar –><div id=”ezoic-pub-ad-placeholder-104″>
<script async src=”//pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/js/adsbygoogle.js”></script>
<!– below all/ tna/wwe news –>
<ins class=”adsbygoogle”
style=”display:block”
data-ad-client=”ca-pub-4793404262316174″
data-ad-slot=”3674627237″
data-ad-format=”auto”></ins>
<script>
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});
</script>
</div>
<!– End Ezoic – Sidebar 3 – sidebar –>
I believe the ad theyre trying to target is possibly a mobile ad, and I dont know where to locate it.
Hi,
Yes, you are right, the first one is set as featured but it’s strange that on your homepage the theme does not have a featured image to show and it’s displaying the placeholder instead. That is why the error shows on that particular module. When there is no featured image to show. Maybe your plugins interfere with the creation of featured images from video posts. Try to create a new video post and see if there is a featured image grabbed from the video.
Thank you!
Hello,
The missing images on your site are because the browser cannot find the specific image in it;s path. Please make sure you did not delete any theme files. The placeholders cannot be found. If you do not want to have a placeholder image on your homepage, please make sure you assign a featured image to every post
Thanks.
IMO, the error is somewhat related to the theme since the theme generates a LOT of different image resizes.
The HTTP error is a 500 error and happens after only a few seconds in my case. Testing with a 10×10 image I am able to upload, so it appears that the issue is a timeout or overrunning the memory allocation from host.
On a failure, some, but not all, image resizes are generated (can view in file system). The image will be listed in the WP media library, but the thumbnail size for the library hasn’t been generated so just a default file placeholder is shown. Various sizes are accessible via direct http access.
Unfortunately I don’t have access to error log in this case to provide more detail.
Note that previously I have uploaded images successfully.
Hi,
If you want to replace a placeholder image, you can find it here: http://screencast.com/t/808LI6Ktf
Please make sure you keep the name of the file intact after you modify it,
Thanks.
Where does the Theme grab the “Placeholder Image” From? We want to use a specific placeholder image but can’t find in the Documentation where to upload it to?
Thank you!
Update: I found some settings in Theme Panel > Post Settings > Featured Images.
When I turn off both options (Show Featured Image and Featured Image Placeholder) it still leaves room on the page where the featured image would go, rather than pushing the text over to fill this space.
Is there anything I can do to fi that? Thanks!!
OK.
I have found the page with the issue. Are you sure you have a featured image set to those posts? as the placeholder seems to display instead. If you do have featured images set, please try to disable all your plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. If the problem is still there afterwards, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin so we can take a look. Also include a link to this topic so we can identify you.
thanks.
Thanks Chris – it’s these two occurrences of this ‘text/javascript’ script – appears to come from Cloudflare? I’d seen on .org the CF page rules and made those – will try with it off (damn got a great page speed with it on) or research other page rules etc – Thanks so much for guidance – Pat

In addition to the last post, I have tried to change to smart list 5, but it already inserts a top image on post. I don´t know exactly the reason. I could insert a featured image previously but now it doesn´t work.
– If I don´t insert any featured picture, I can see that any picture is displayed on blocks. In theme panel, I have activated placeholder image and it shows a gray space without image, and if I deactivate this option, a blank space is shown.
– Is it possible to display a normal post image on blocks? (Without any featured image)
Thanks
Most often due to using the Photon plugin with Jetpack.
Better to use the built-in thumbnails, and change the default compression setting in wp-config.php to something like ’70’ (default is 90). We use ’45’ for best page speed for small thumbs as they are intended only as placeholders.
Also note any images with a lot of RED will never resave and look as good due to the inherent inability of JPEG compression to handle REDS at high compression (small file size) settings using *any* compression method for speed.
Hello Bogdan,
Thanks for responding back to me. I had actually done all those and it hadn’t worked. I went back again to make sure I followed the steps and I did. I had the video on feature and add the link on the featured video. It renders an image on the editing page but not on the site. I had to take it off feature because it will come up blank on the slide.
I used the video format and post style. I checked and the placeholder is turned on. Not sure what else is left to check.
Thanks,
Hello,
I assume you are referring to the homepage and the video post images. It has to do with your settings, it’s not a bug and nothing went wrong. Your site actually works fine and there are no errors. Please first of all activate the placeholder image in the theme panel: http://screencast.com/t/q1cg5u4qFDQO so there will be a replacement image for situations like this. And to “fix” the video posts, please use a video post style and format: http://screencast.com/t/X7SEqC5pv and this is the most important step: add the video as a featured video:
http://screencast.com/t/5cYRGajkF4Ku
You can read more about featured videos here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image-or-video/
Hope this helps.
Thank you!
I am using Smart List 1 for one of my posts to see if it will work for my site. When the posts loads, the smart list loads properly, then jumps to the last image in the post.
The post is at: http://suburbanmen.com/our-favorite-women-this-week-20160320/544470
Here is a few lines of my post code:
<h3>Our Favorite Women This Week</h3>
img link
<h3>Our Favorite Women This Week</h3>
img link
<h3>Our Favorite Women This Week</h3>
img link
I changed the actual image URL to a placeholder as the images were showing in this post.
Hi Catalin,
I don’t use any smart list as you can see on the screenshot. https://www.uploady.com/#!/download/Fuw1rzqkPur/RZCU7qXsOKFZn5SM
Maybe i’ll use in the future because I must first learn to use this option.
Please tell me please how to solve this problem for me.
When I purchased the theme, i regenerated all images but the images are missing. Now, I just enable option “FEATURED IMAGE PLACEHOLDER” but the result is: https://www.uploady.com/#!/download/b6f~aWsSuk7/yyYg8ginFZRCXY2b
AND ALL CATEGORIES PAGES LIKE THIS https://www.uploady.com/#!/download/2CgnZ5axZUC/mGXHFIKDCfOuj84L
The images on my site are 5.000. Is very difficult for as to set 1 by 1
Many thanks
Ok Catalin,
The first question is ok. 2) For Ads i will try to disable the plugin. Thankyou. For the images I’d forgot to set feutured images in the post. Howewer i set “on” Placeholder.
Just 2 other question on feutured images.
1) If I set on > SHOW FEATURED IMAGE in the Theme panel and set feature image in the post as in all posts, the result in the article is this screenshot (Photo are duplicate). https://www.uploady.com/#!/download/ZKNlCb3WqX0/V~z6yuwbHdAfPyxl I disabled it now
2) When I purchased the theme, i regenerated all images but the images are missing. Now, I just enable option “FEATURED IMAGE PLACEHOLDER” but the result is: https://www.uploady.com/#!/download/b6f~aWsSuk7/yyYg8ginFZRCXY2b
Thank you
Hello eddycom,
1)I have checked your website and saw the problem with your Big Slide 1. This kind of behaviour appears when your posts have not set the feature image and the placeholder it not activated. Please try to activate this option and make sure that your posts have featured image activated -> http://screencast.com/t/s7nLeqQ6
For more information about these settings, please consult our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/ Also, as a hint, you can try to find some plugins to get the first image on your post to be featured image. Most of our customers use Auto Post Thumbnail Pro in this case but please notice that is not a tested plugin and we cannot provide support for this type of plugin.
2)Unfortunately, I cannot inspect your banner ad because I cannot find it on your website. So, please ensure that you have entered the right code in each field from our theme. I have tested on my side with another Ads and it display as expected. Also, please ensure that your code supports 728*90 size in order to achieve best results. For more information about Ads implementation, please consult our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/header-ad/ Also, I saw that you are using some untested plugins which could create some interferences in our theme and could cause some errors in it. Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins.
Thank you for the message!
Make sure your thumbnails are all as compressed as possible; change default compression level in wp-config.php or use a plugin. All the little images on home page should be very compressed as they are just visual placeholders. Make sure things like logo is very compressed also (e.g., if it’s only 4 colors, use .png vs .jpg, etc.).
Make sure you have gzip/deflate running as this compresses page for web browser automatically.
ADVANCED:
For advanced uses, consider server side compression like mod_pagespeed, or a caching plugin that might also remove blank spaces, comments, to reduce the file size of the HTML. For super advanced use, consider web host that runs both http/2 and mod_pagespeed (MPS can remove all comments, double spaces, tabs/indents, comments, and other elements that pad the page on the fly, then cache it via server side caching like opcache).
Hello,
@mlgallant Well if the option does not stay selected, that is the reason you do not see featured images. Please try to clear your cache after you change the setting and make use you increase the system status parameters according to this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/ If you still cannot get the option to stay selected, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin so we can inspect it. (also include a link to this topic so we can identify you)
@Olak,
Please re upload your images in the media library. edit a post and remove the featured image that does not show up and upload it again. Do the same for the logo and your ad in the header. http://screencast.com/t/WwLgJ0UB55j
Most of your posts do not have a featured image set so you can only see the placeholder image on your homepage.
Hope this helps.
Thank you!
hello,
this is probably an easy question – maybe I’ve simply overlooked something (?)
in those blocks that show my last posts (of certain categories) I don’t want to show posts that don’t have an image (or featured image) at all, I know I can choose not to have a placeholder for images without featured images, but that doesn’t make the display of posts without images in blocks any nicer.
How can I hide posts without image from blocks?
