Hi,

If you want to remove the ads from a certain post you can us a single post template from tagDiv Cloud Library and do not set any ads in that template, after that set the template on the post you do not want to have ads.

The ads on pages can be set using tagDiv Composer and set ad box where you want to have ads ( but in this can you need to check the ads from header and footer ).

Thank you!

For posts, I have set the site to show related articles by tag, which works fine. But how do I remove the category label that automatically shows at the bottom corners of images?

Hi there at TagDiv,

Hope not to make it to complicated, but I have two questions that are both related to implementing Adsense code in NewsPaper Theme (latest version 9.7). Been using the theme for two and a half years now andour newssite is growing rapidly thanks to your great theme for one. So great job.

That said: I use Automatic ads from Adsense and had pasted the code in between the <head> tags of header.php of the theme. Needless to say the when updated I had to implement that code again. Before v9.7 I implemented the code directly on different places on my pages through RAW HTML and that worked great. But since the last version this makes tagDiv Composer behave strange. I get my page in a kind of top bar of a few inches and have to scroll down. Normaly the page is screenwide, but not anymore.

What did I do?

1. removed all raw html code trough the classic editor from all pages. Now tagDiv Composer works great again
2. Added my Adsense code for automatic Ads in Theme Panel – Ads – Header Ads and all Article and Post Ads
3. Saved these settings
4. Worked on my articles and revisited my Themepanel
5. All AdSense codes in the Ads section where gone

Any idea how to fix this so I can get my revenue from Adsense up again? Do I need to remove the Adsense code out of the header.php?

Thanks in advance for your time and tips!

Kind regards

I understand now, but it is not easy. On one hand AMP specifies that the main logo should be 60px in height, as it is now – http://prntscr.com/o1ublohttp://prntscr.com/o1uds1
You would have to remove this code in order for the logo to be bigger
http://prntscr.com/o1udbm
Then it will look like this – http://prntscr.com/o1udjw so it will require some CSS to change the design, and CSS in the old AMP plugin can only be entered like mentioned here
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/amp-page-formatting-questions/
Not to mention the modification it would require to center the logo. To center it maybe try and remove this margin here – http://prntscr.com/o1ui6k

The old AMP plugin looks like this – https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_crypto/td-post-ripple-ceo-and-ethereum-co-founder-bash-ico-industry/amp/
It doesn’t have any settings to change the logo size or center it. This plugin is a simple plugin with the design based on the Yoast website
https://yoast.com/meta-descriptions/amp/

Now the solution is the mobile theme and official AMP plugin, for which there will be more and more options added in coming updates – https://tagdiv.com/amp-newspaper-theme/

Hi,

From what I can see the HTML container structure is not right in the post pages. Is the issue solved if you remove the sidebar? because I see that there is an unclosed div container in the ad from the sidebar – http://prntscr.com/o1b5bm

I suggest that you check in the theme panel sidebar ad spot and if the closing div is indeed missing, add it – http://prntscr.com/o1b71q
Without proper HTML there could be damages to the page – https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-other-ads-non-adsense-ads/

Hi,

That looks like the black demo. This demo has CSS customizations in order to display like that. As long as the demo is installed the CSS should apply.

I have logged in, I see it is installed. But the specific body class is missing, I have added it – http://prntscr.com/o0ulhc
Now the design can load – http://prntscr.com/o0ulkq
If you have more questions let me know.

Hi,

It happened for me as well, I scrolled to the end a few times before it happened. Seems the automatic height of some iframes in which the posts are loaded, is very small for some reason
http://prntscr.com/o0rbyn
Haven’t seen this being reported before, maybe there are special cases when it happens. So if you remove the adsense ads the problem is solved? We could take a look, send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login. Include a link to this topic in the email.

Hi,

You can do this using some single post template from tagDiv Cloud Library and edit them with tagDiv Composer and set/remove date, in this way You’ll set the single post template on the News category with date and for the rest of post you can set the other single post template.

Thank you!

So the theme does not function correctly. I have logged in, seems the wp-memory (and some other parameters is quite low) – http://prntscr.com/nzwoap having low wp-memory can cause various problems. While the theme and theme plugins should work with 40M, installing more plugins will exhaust the memory. We recommend 256M if possible.

Please check this requirements guide carefully, it mentions how the memory can be increased – https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-requirements/ if needed you could contact the hosting provider and ask them to do it for you.

Regarding this code you mention, what exactly should it do? You can use any of the available composer elements in pages – http://prntscr.com/nzwrk4 there are text, image, HTML elements etc. Let me know.

As a note, please don’t post admin login in the forum, the topics are public to all forum users. When we require admin login, send the details by email at contact@tagdiv.com. I will remove them from the topic.

Hi,

Seems that there is still a demo image set somewhere in the theme panel, that was not changed. This image causes a mixed content warning – http://prntscr.com/nyqslz
Try looking for it here – http://prntscr.com/nyqsyt remove it or change it with one of your images.

I checked the website on mobile, looks fine. That is how the mobile theme looks. If you don’t want the mobile theme, you can deactivate it as it is an optional plugin. Then the same content from desktop will appear on mobile.

The latest articles section will appear at the bottom of the page, if the required template is selected for the respective page – https://forum.tagdiv.com/page-templates-2/
To remove it select a different template, like the default page template for example.

I believe you are using the code for changing the review star color from here
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/i-cant-make-use-of-your-theme-yet/
I made it so that it applies only in posts, but I can modify it to apply everywhere.
http://prntscr.com/nyqy5h here it is – https://pastebin.com/bUBrVBKB
Remove the previous code and enter this one.

If you have more questions let me know.

”Dear expert friend,

When I share a link on facebook page from my site -https://bdhealth.news the post photo is not appearing recently. What should I do to fetch the photo as like as before?

Thanks for your help in this regard
Abu”

I got the following reply on wordpress forum:

”Hi Abu,

I’m glad you’re still around ?

There’s a duplicated og:image tag outputted in the header. The theme probably outputs this, and it causes Facebook not to use its cache–as no og:image:width (and height) is directly attached.

So, although the second share should work, you may wish to look into removing the extraneous meta tag.”

It’s hard to see from where the tag is coming. So, first, you’d want to check the theme options.

If you can’t find anything in there, check out the theme’s header.php file. You may see a tag in there that looks like this:

<meta property=”og:image” content=”
You may wish to reach out to a developer to safely remove or override it. Or, contact your theme’s developer, and ask if there are options (soon) available to remove it.

Finally, if it’s not in there, see if there are other social plugins. I believe it may have something to do with “social icons”.

I hope this paves the right path, best of luck!”

Please give me appropriate suggestion based on the above explanation

Thanks
Abu

Hi,

It looks like that because of the background image. If there is a background color or image set in the theme panel the website will be boxed (limited width)
https://forum.tagdiv.com/background-introduction/
If you should remove the background image, the post template will again be full width. Let me know if you have more questions.

Thanks

I always think it’s a bit stupid that everything is shifted to the user right away, even though one has already written that everything was great before and since update these errors exist, so it can’t really be due to a plugin error. I don’t want to sound ungrateful now, but there seem to be other customers who have reported the same problem. So is it possible to do more research about this and not unpack the “You’re to blame, we’re not” club right away? So far the updates have been quite problem-free, except for a few little things here and there, but lately the problems increase when I install an update. Maybe it’s me, but I just can’t find a problem. As a developer you can even be glad that people report bugs as actively as possible.

As I wrote before, the gallery (WordPress gallery (normal), tested in the Gutenberg editor with the Classic block and the normal Gutenberg gallery, tagdiv gallery works fine) works neither in the main theme (so not child) nor in the child, so I don’t know another solution, the media file is linked. The default Post Template in the settings can be set, but is also displayed correctly in the main theme (not Child), but as soon as you switch to the Child theme, the default template is always displayed. The sidebar is displayed properly, but before that the update reset or removed my widgets, so I had to redefine them. The rest of the page actually works fine, except for the problems, there is none left, until the auto-optimization may load the page a bit strange when script merge is activated. I disabled this option for the time being. And yes already tested whether it is also related to the other problems, unfortunately no change, sorry.

I’d like to switch back to 9.7.2, because I’m a little tired of testing, wasting my time and not finding a solution. Stupid that I don’t have the version anymore, I make really meticulous backups now before I decide to install a newspaper update.

Thanks for your efforts and I hope the matter clears up as soon as possible.

Hi,

You have more possibilities, you can import some demos and edit theme, but be carefully, if you edit one demo page and you’ll install other demo, or you’ll uninstall the demo, that page will be remove, so will be good to make a new page and set the content in it.
Please check our documentation from here -> https://tagdiv.com/?s=composer

Also you can import pages/sections and templates from tagDiv Cloud Library -> https://tagdiv.com/what-is-the-cloud-library/

The simplest way to achieve a full width is to use a template from tagDiv Cloud Library. There is no one single button push. You have to import a post style and set it as the default post template in the theme panel post settings, then you need to import a category template that is full width and set that one as the default category template. The same for tags, author pages etc:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-cloud-library-plugin/ also for pages (stretch row and content ) https://www.screencast.com/t/i8SQ5eS4 .
Please read similar topics:
-> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/force-full-width-on-categories-post-grid/
-> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/homepage-full-width-content/
-> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/homepage-full-width-content/

Also from what I can see your header and footer is stretch to full width -> https://www.screencast.com/t/8dv4sZzdVu3o -> https://www.screencast.com/t/1nXlJduH7

Cloud post templates are templates that can be created with the tagDiv composer, here are some templates designed by us – https://cloud.tagdiv.com/#/load/Single
You can also design your own. These will be available when the cloud library plugin is installed and active
https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-cloud-library-plugin/

If you however want to remove the datepublished meta from the theme, this can only be done if you remove it from the code – http://prntscr.com/nrcl7i

Hi,

The menu or the whole header? The whole header is possible when you edit the page with the composer – http://prntscr.com/nprim1
Just the menu it would be possible if you use a cloud header template
https://cloud.tagdiv.com/#/load/Headers
These can be modified/created with the tagDiv composer. So for example while the rest of the website uses a header template, in the page you want you can use a cloud header template without a menu in it. If you import one, remove the menu element from it
http://prntscr.com/nprlej
If you decide to build one from blank, simply don’t place a header menu element in it
http://prntscr.com/nprme8http://prntscr.com/nprmjb

In case you don’t want to use a cloud header template, and only wish to simply remove the menu from a specific page, it could be done with CSS. Post a link to this page and I will create a code for it.

Let me know.
Thanks

In case anyone stumbles onto this… There is no way to customize without risking changes being overwritten when TD pushes updates.

Hi,

Most of the theme files were moved into the tagDiv Composer plugin as per the requirements of Envato: https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements, as we wrote an article on that subject. In the future, if you need to make some changes over those core files, you need to check the files from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/Pu345nqP If you need more assistance in this case, please open a new topic at our support forum from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/forum/newspaper/

So does this mean that you have to edit the core plugin files directly!? I have made changes to the footer and various part of site through child theme template customizations, how are these suppose to be added now without editing the core plugin files?

Example. I have a child theme and have

childtheme/parts/footer/td_footer_template_14.php

I have added an above footer widget area to this file, and now this is gone. How would I re-add this functionality?

Hi,

We wrote an article on the subject here: https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
Moving forward with such requirements, a child theme will only work with functions.php, and style.css, as there are very few files left in the main theme as Envato, requires all functionality to be added through plugins. From now on, if you want to make some changes over the footer theme templates, you need to edit the code from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/RqUdpKc8 Also, if you need more assistance in this case, please open a new topic at our support forum from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/forum/newspaper/

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding!

That does not help at all. What happens when you update the TD Composer plugin? All of the updates that were done to those would be replaced.

This is NOT going to work for continuous development using the Newspaper theme.

There are ways to incorporate locate_template() within a plugin so that you can still maintain the functionality of overriding core templates.

This is not an inconvenience this is a DEAL BREAKER for utilizing this theme going forward with new clients, the flexibility and customization of this theme just went from 90% down to 0%.

Catalin L.Catalin L. May 14, 2019 at 7:53 am
Hi,

The Newspaper theme update brings a change for the customers that use WP Bakery Page Builder with our Theme: when you’ll be updating to the Newspaper 9.7.2 version, you’ll need to activate the tagDiv Composer to keep the Newspaper theme functionality you’ve previously used. Otherwise, you will have basic WordPress functionality, complying with Envato WordPress Requirements – https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements.
Please note that activating the tagDiv Composer doesn’t mean that you are required to use our custom page builder on your website. You can use the WP Bakery page builder as you did before the update. We recommended you to do not use the tagDiv Composer and WP Bakery page builders on the same page though, because you cannot edit with WP Baker blocks and shortcodes created with tagDiv Composer or vice-versa. Regarding your customizations, if you have made and have affected some of the theme core files when you will make the theme update, all of these files will be overwritten. You need to make a full backup and then, all these customizations should have to be implemented again to the core files.

Thank you!

AvatarMatt Pramschufer May 14, 2019 at 9:19 pm
Catalin,
Your response has nothing to do with the issue I proposed. I did not say anything about WP Bakery.

The theme has no hooks at all to implement customizations on a plugin level, and now the functionality of customizing page/post templates has been removed without introducing a new method to make those customizations.

Your answer of just “hack the core files” is absurd. You can not really believe that your customers are going to think this “cowboy coding” way is going to fly in 2019?

Is there someone on your development team or someone higher up that you could connect me to?

I have built out over 20 media publications using the Newspaper theme, all of which have customizations. If I make changes to the TD Composer plugin and you push out an update, it is only a matter of time before all of those customizations are lost.

Catalin L.Catalin L. May 15, 2019 at 8:12 am
Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience! In your case, if this update will affect your websites, the best solution is to keep the old theme version (9.1) for them. This can be downloaded from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/important-new-update-newspaper-9-7/ Please notice that we try doing our best and where we find a way for this case, we will make an update with this, sorry! At the moment, there is no such thing, sorry!

Hi,

So you want just the menu to be hidden, but the rest of the top bar should be visible? you could build or import a cloud header template and remove/not use a menu element
https://cloud.tagdiv.com/#/load/Headers
Or you could use CSS to remove it, something like this should work

.td-header-wrap .td-header-menu-wrap {
display: none;
}

If it doesn’t work, please post a link to the website and I will modify it accordingly. Or specify what header style you use. Let me know.

Thanks

Hi,

From what I know from searching online something must have changed on Facebook’s side, pasting the link to a Facebook video in the post content will not work anymore
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/facebook-videos-dont-show-on-the-classic-editor/
https://stackoverflow.com/questions/56143270/facebook-video-url-not-working-in-wordpress-sie

I get this – http://prntscr.com/nou6j8http://prntscr.com/nou6op
Using the embed code seems to still work – http://prntscr.com/nou70k
http://prntscr.com/nou73w
This works in the mobile theme and AMP is active as well – http://prntscr.com/nou7hu
So if you embedded thee videos as mentioned they will work in the mobile theme + AMP version.

But the modal you are referring to when images are clicked (mobile theme active) will not work. That will work only for desktop. The mobile theme is kept as simple as possible, for increased speed. Some users asked for a solution to remove any interaction with the images, that could be done with CSS – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/disable-click-on-photo-in-the-mobile-theme/

Hi,

1)Unfortunately, I do not see the problem with the author’s box and white space, sorry! I see this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/ud9DPpllk2pv Provide more details and some useful screenshots with the issue so I can identify it closer.
2)I have made some tests on my website and the Post page Title are correctly displayed depending on what page you are, sorry! It seems that problems come from your website configuration. After some deeper investigations at your website, I saw that your URL is not correctly displayed when you are on Infinite Scroll template, which is not right. Also, I saw that you are using the Jetpack plugin which might break this functionality. Please remove all of the untested plugins and leave just to active only the theme and required plugins to active, clear all the caches and check the results.
3)I suppose that you have set up the previous post and that’s why you bring old posts when you scroll down. You need to set up by next posts from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/4PF1H9fgEdu
4)If you are using the Mobile Theme, this functionality will do not work, sorry! Keep the General Responsive Mobile version and the Infinite Scroll would work as expected on the mobile.
5)Please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/date-time-in-the-top-bar/

Also, I have checked your license status and your support it seems to be expired. In the future, if you want to receive any support, you will need to extend it. Check here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/EpnBPyO5lXx

Hope this helps!
